Hello Illegear folks,

I've purchased a Laguna recently (i7-8750H, gtx1070 config), I'm just a little concerned with the thermals I've been observing over the first two weeks. My CPU idles at around the low 50s to low 60s and while running games such as Dota2 and CSGO, they tend to fluctuate between the 70s to high 80s region. And for AAA title games such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, GTA 5 and Witcher 3, at CPU intensive parts (for instance in GTA 5, population variation rendering and etc) I'm observing CPU temps as high as 95.

Thermals for GPU on the other hand is sitting comfortably at 70+ degrees, which I have no problem about it.

I have established some kind of expectations on CPU thermals because I previously owns a z7 (i7-7700hq, gtx1050ti config) and even at max loads, I've never seen anything going more than 90 Celsius degrees (idles at high 30s and sits at around 70+ during gaming). So I'm just curious if what I'm experiencing is consistent with your temperature benchmark for the new Laguna and should be consider as something normal across all 8th gen Laguna (and perhaps all 8th gen laptops out there)? Or is there just something unusual for my particular unit?

Even though, I've tried some undervolting and they're in fact achieving great results in terms of minimal performance trade off for better thermals, but given that this is a new machine, I think the last thing I would like to do is to be relying on 3rd party utilities just to keep my CPU thermals cool.

8750H runs really hot (much hotter than 7700HQ), not many models can handle it.

Anyway, the idle temps seem a bit high. You MUST do undervolting for CFL-H laptops. Can do a repaste if you want

Thanks for the valuable input there! So based on what you're saying, seems like higher temps are to be expected for all 8750H regardless, that might actually cross out one of my worries about my device being the faulty one. If that's the case, I guess I'll stick with my undervolting practice and then see if a repaste is really necessary - as a matter of fact, I opted for the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut upgrade and to be repasting on top of that 2 weeks after I gotten my new laptop sounds abit ridiculous.

On the other hand, I have to admit that liquid metal sounds really really tempting but I would think is rather risky for a new laptop as mine. Let's see if the other Illegear folks do come back with any sort of temperature benchmark for their latest Laguna model on coffee lake so that I've a better idea as of how to manage my expectations here! smile.gif

Please bekful on the top part of ur power button. Mine rust like this and according to illegear team, it will be costly just to change this sound cover as the whole thing is attached to the keyboard. Worst thing is I just got this laptop on feb 2018....only half a year and now it look so bad. Haix.

Hi holymushroom

This is chip off of the black paint, not a rust. Did you knock something on it before?

Hi nope, cant be something knock on that area as it is so close to tbe screen. If u zoom in bigger u can see that the paint beside the area is starting to have some bubble and I think it will also come out soon.
If I knock on it the paint would have come out immediately without those bubble right? I will show some cleaner picture when I get home. The black paint is like floating on top of the cover.

Hi Illegear team

Is there any update for the Raven Gaming Center app?

Because i noticed some performance drop on my laptop, and i found out on heavy usage, the gaming center would use tons of RAM and never releases it even after all the app is closed. Any reason why the app would even want to use so much ram in the first place?

ps: looks like a memory leak.

I noticed Illegear Raven has "None" selected in their Operating System? Does it mean it does not come with any OS?? I see you need to RM289 just for a Win10 Home edition... while all the other models have Win10 included in their price...

It comes with the OS as they need to setup and check the item, just without the OEM key. Trial. Not activated. biggrin.gif

I believe all their models, you can actually opt out from the OS

You can check in their online store, every model you can set the OS to None during customization

By default it is NONE, so no OS installed.
But they do provide you an option to select for Windows 10 Free Trial (No license key).

Well actually I wonder why most ppl prefer Onyx than Raven Elite (both 1060) tho, can share?

I bought an Acer Predator Helios 300 1060 16gb Ram last Sunday because Illegear was not opened on Sunday and now I freaking regret it. Wanna sell it off and buy Raven Elite asap.

Any owner of Raven Elite 1060 care to share experience? Thank you in advance.
