The Illegear U3 is only come with a I7 7500u, which i think there is bottleneck when compare to the HQ series processor, due to lower core and "U" series is energy efficient processor. some review benchmark is 10-20+fps different.

It will be good, in future, if there is slim + HQ series or Desktop series + TB 3.

Hi there

The difference between connecting GPU via Thunderbolt 3 and PCI Express is 5 to 15%, it can be lowered down to 5% if you connect external monitors.

The bottleneck is caused by the Thunderbolt transfer rate, no the CPU as per our test.

So is there any video or review on the use of this External Graphics Card Enclosure from Illegear? I'm quite interested in it since I guess the GPU upgrade option isn't available anymore.

Which laptop model are you using?

We are planning to run a few game benchmark tests with the eGPU + GTX1080Ti.

I have the RS-15. Btw, Illegear might as well do benchmark tests with all of the graphics card options on the website. More comprehensive for the (potential) customers, don't you think?
