[B][Budget]As low as it can get by referring the details ill give

[Purpose]Mainly CSGO/Dota 2

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Laptop msata SSD, Mouse, Keyboard

[Monitor resolution]1080p 144Hz

[Games & softwares that use frequently]CSGO/Dota 2

[Personal preferences]
By referring to this youtube video, the guy uses i3 4150/750 ti and getting an average 200 FPS @ 900p with CPU/GPU usage of 80-90% playing CSGO. I want a build around this that gives the same performance, with a little bit more room to breath for the CPU/GPU.
Other preference:
USB 3.0 Mobo
Mobo that support mSata SSD (or buy adapter?)
Recommend me the monitor too!

guys,

moved out of my home to work but I really need gaming in my life lollll
budget problem can't afford to get a laptop right now.

currently using itx mobo on air 240 (please don't judge me hahaha)

am looking for an itx casing which I can bring along conveniently... any recommendation?

current PSU is Corsair RM650 and graphic card is a zotac GTX960 amp!
as long as can hand carry then it's fine...

Thanks!
*
CM Elite 130 should be the cheapest option (less than RM 200) for you but it might be a little bit too big for you to hand carry it.

Other small mITX casing is also available like FD Node 202/Silverstone Milo series but you will need to change your PSU to SFF PSU (sell off your RM650 and use the money to get a SFF PSU, price starts from RM 400+).

I'm looking to do a core upgrade on my rig. GPU has KO-ed. Bottleneck activity will be gaming (don't do video processing etc.)

Budget of RM3k, but open for more if bang for buck.

Intel Core i5 760 (upgraded Heatsink, I think is CM Hyper 212)
Asus P7H55
Kingston 8 GB ram
Gigabyte GTX460
Samsung HDDs
Lite On DVDRW
Silverstone ST50F-ES 500W PSU
CM Elite 430
Dell IPS 23inch monitor

1) Looking to upgrade CPU, GPU and mobo. Seems unlikely I can reuse anything, but open to advice.
CPU - Looking at i5, no need K series.
GPU - Currently playing at 1080p, but open up to multiple monitors setup or moving towards 1440p and above. Therefore looking at GTX 1060 OR GTX 1070.
Mobo - Open to recommendations.
2) Is my DDR3 ram still usable in new mobo these days? Or this is a given that I have to change as well if i change mobo.
3) Recommendations on SSDs?
4) Would my current PSU be sufficient for whatever recommendations above?
5) Would my casing be able to fit whatever recommendations above?

Thanks in advance!

[Budget] MYR1~2k

[Purpose] gaming on ultra - ultra high(AAA games)

[Hardwares that will be re-use] i5 Sandy Bridge 2400, 1tb green HDD, 4gb ddr3 ram(if viable). KB & mouse, headset.

[Monitor resolution] will buy a 1080P IPS display monitor <24"

[Games & softwares that use frequently] : Dying Light, DB Xenoverse, Path of Exile, Paladins, Dirt series, common upcoming AAA games like Dishonored 2.

[Personal preferences] need small factor pc, prefer Mini-atx mobo bcuz i may move the PC around the house(travel together in flight if possible as well when going back hometown). Going to get gtx1070, 128gb ssd as minimum requirements.
*
Well the cheapest GTX1070 costs nearly 1.8k already, so you left RM 200 for the rest of the items, I don't think it is possible to get all of them at once for now.

QUOTE(skty @ Dec 30 2016, 01:30 AM)
Hi to all the Sifus, I need to ask for your opinion/guidance on the following:

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k or 5820k or 6800k? (what CPU cooler is good?)

GPU: Still considering either GTX1060 3GB or GTX1070, but really confused with so many aftermarket cards, their pro and cons. I don't really care about RGB and appearance. Currently considering Palit Jetstream / Super Jetstream but hold back by their 2.5 slot size. Can I overclock Jetstream to Super Jetstream boost clock easily so I can save on the price difference?

Thousand thanks in advanced!
*
It depends on your usage, 6800K packs with lower core clock speed but with 2 extra physical cores compared to 6700K, for single core performance on stock speed, 6700K is faster due to higher core clock speed. If you use it for gaming only then 6700K is a better choice, save the hassle to overclock and fine tune the 6800K to match the speed of 6700K (5820K is obsoleted and I am going to skip it). What's your budget for the CPU cooler? If you are going to apply some mild overclocking then mid end air CPU cooler is enough (around RM 200), if you are going "all-in" mode then you can consider high end AIO liquid CPU cooler (RM 500+).

And for GPU, you will need to compare the full specs 6GB GTX1060 with GTX1070 8GB instead of the 3GB variant, performance difference is roughly 40% (GTX1070 leads).

1080p60? GTX1060 6GB
1080p144? GTX1070 8GB
1440p and above? GTX1070 8GB or GTX1080 8GB

Yes you can overclock the card to match the speed of other cards manually (hopefully you are not lazy to do the overclock tongue.gif).

Sorry I meant to buy gtx1060, the low cost variant (rm900-1k). Excluding GPU, rm1k-2K is for other stuff
*
Alright if you plan to reuse your processor, you might need to look for used mITX LGA1155 mobo because new one is nowhere to be found now. A full CPU platform revamp with Skylake i5 + H110/B150 mITX + 8GB DDR4 RAM will cost nearly 1.5k.

Since my Sandy Bridge i5 processor will most likely unable to fit onto a mini atx pc cases, I revamped my requirement as below, please suggest accordingly thanks

[Budget] RM2k-Rm3k

[Purpose] gaming on ultra - ultra high(AAA games) 1080P only

[Hardwares that will be re-use] i5 Sandy Bridge 2400 & 4GB ddr3 ram(not compulsory), 1tb green HDD, KB & mouse, headset.

[Monitor resolution]
- 1080P IPS display monitor 21.5"-24" anti-eyestrain whatever like that.

[Games & softwares that use frequently] : Mafia 3, Assassins Creed Series, Dying Light, Dark Souls 3, The Witcher 1-3, Dirt series, common upcoming AAA games like Dishonored 2.
*
Ultra or ultra high on 1080p with a max budget of 3k is quite ambitious, though it is still possible if the game is well optimized for mid end hardware.

Intel Core i5 6402P - RM 774
ASRock H110M-ITX - RM 283
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 229
Palit GTX1060 3GB GDDR5 StormX - RM 889 <Get 6GB variant for full core/specs of GTX1060>
HDD reuse
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
CM Elite 130 - RM 178 <Not too small nor too big but might be a little bit uncomfortable to carry around for some people>

Hi bro, thanks for your suggestion and feedback.

Not going to consider GTX1060 6GB because not much game utilize more than 3GB of RAM. GTX1060 3GB is a wiser choice if going for GTX1060 series.
But what aftermarket card model is good?
*
Nope, 6GB is indeed a much better choice if you aren't being restricted by your budget, more and more triple A titles use more than 4GB VRAM now even on 1080p resolution only. And 3GB VRAM model is not running the full GP106 specs (only around 90% raw power of full specs GTX1060 6GB GP106-400).

Which aftermarket card is good? Hmm, if budget doesn't matter, then those high end models like Asus Strix, Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming, Zotac AMP Extreme (and much more) are pretty nice, but it could cost you extra few hundred in return for no performance improvement though (just few FPS ahead) sweat.gif

Possible to build a PC with i7 and a gtx 1070

For around 6/7k?

I use this for video editing, Photoshop, illustrator
Casual gaming like GTA V

Not included monitor since I have that already
*
Yes possible, it can be either with locked i7 6700 or overclockable i7 6700K. Lowest end hexa core Broadwell-E is also possible.

Hi bro, I saw you recommend Palit GPU alot which is nice because it's cheap and powerful.

My concern is, Palit has no customer service in Malaysia. If anything wrong with the hardware, do you know how can we claim warranty?
*
Always refer back to the seller (that's why always pick a reputable seller just in case), most of the local distributors don't deal with end customers directly and they will ask you to RMA the item via the seller or retailers instead.

sorry bro, I forget to put in respective clock speed.

Palit GTX 1070 Super JetStream (1835Mhz) vs Palit GTX 1070 JetStream (1683MHz, RM100 cheaper) vs Gigabyte GTX 1070 Windforce OC (1771MHz, RM30 cheaper)

still the cheapest win?
*
Gigabyte Windforce OC seems to be the most worth buying card for me in this comparison, I wouldn't be paying extra RM 100 just for the extra factory pre-overclocked speed which I can manually overclock myself and save me RM 100 for other parts, and the appearance between the Super Jetstream and Jetstream model looks almost identical to me (well I expect to get something different in terms of its external appearance when I pay more laugh.gif )

If you are looking for 1ms panel, then you can consider Dell SE2417HG (1080p TN). As for IPS then you got few options like Dell S2316H, ViewSonic VX2363MHL, Acer R221Q etc.

Yes it is very difficult to build from scratch with your available budget, both of the rigs above aren't worth to invest anymore now, some of them are very old already (like the Core 2 Duo, 10 years anniversary biggrin.gif ) and you might face even more issues running the latest games (and upcoming one) with those specs, I recommend you to get a Skylake i3 build (without dedicated GPU) first and use the iGPU of the CPU (HD 530) to play games for the time being, add a dedicated GPU later when you have more funds, this is a more feasible solution to me.

I7 6700k
MB:Z170 (recomment)
RAM: 16GB DDR4
VGA:GTX 1060 6GB OC
SSD: 500GB
Power: 650watt 80Plus
Case Prohero
Just asking, I wanna get this build. Was quoted RM5100
Worth the price? Sorry I'm really newbie on building rig. Just started wanna experience gaming
*
Cannot comment too much without listing out the exact brand name and model because the price difference between all the models and brands is pretty large in Malaysia sweat.gif

If gaming only then you can save a bit more by getting the locked i7 6700 and normal H110/B150/H170 instead of i7 6700K + Z170 (expensive). And CPU cooler is missing in the build list, you need to buy one for the CPU to work because K series CPU doesn't come with stock cooler anymore starting from Skylake.

Yes for gaming only but i also wish to mod processor and GPU in the future. I am newbie in this particular building, not really familiar.
What would you recommend if let say i have a budget of RM5500 for my rig alone excluding monitor etc.
*
The better word for "mod" is "overclock", mod involves changing the appearance of the part which is not possible without voiding the warranty (or spoiling the item), FYI, overclocking doesn't bring a lot of performance improvement in gaming, it could be none at all if the game you play doesn't benefit from high speed CPU, spend the money in other parts (like getting a better GPU) is a much better choice.

Intel Core i7 6700K - RM 1582
ASRock Z170 FATAL1TY Gaming K4 - RM 609

thanks for the suggestion, about psu which one is better for 200 price range

Corsair VS550, FXP HEXA+ 550, SilverStone Strider Essential 500W 80+ ST50F-ES230 v2

SanDisk SSD PLUS 120gb is it good? its more cheap.

after a year maybe i will upgrade the graphic card to gtx 1060 or 1070
*
Corsair VS and Silverstone Strider Essential are under same tier (tier 6) while FSP Hexa is under tier 7, they are super low end PSU and you can try to get the Corsair or Silverstone if you want a slightly higher rating PSU than the FSP (tier 6 vs tier 7).

And the SSD, yes you can change to SanDisk, the difference between SATA based SSD is not huge so you won't miss out a lot in terms of the I/O performance.

tq for suggesting,

i opt for the normal 2GB 1050 and 20" monitor
and add a pcie wifi card.  n makes the budget to 2.2k
*
The price difference between 20" and 22" FHD monitor is very small (less than few bucks), 20" monitor usually comes with a very bad contrast ratio which you might find it difficult to adjust the contrast and brightness to your comfort zone when you are in a dark room. Nevertheless, here is an updated build, I have to downgrade the CPU, GPU and casing to fit everything in your new budget.

Asus H110M-K - RM 253
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 229

Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 169
TP-LINK TL-WN881ND PCIe WiFi - RM 65
Armageddon Vulcan V1x - RM 79
BenQ GW2270 - RM 350

is it possible if add the ssd later and get a better gpu? do u think that will be a good idea? anyways thanks for the quick response.  rclxms.gif

Yes you can, most likely can fit a GTX1060 3GB (6GB might still possible with some top up), I saw the games you listed in frequently played games list weren't that GPU intensive so I went ahead and included a SSD in the build list instead initially, it is completely fine to drop the SSD and opt for a better GPU in this case.

I have few questions:

1) what is your suggestion for a good budget 1060 card?

2) does downgrading to i5 6400 or 6402p from 6500 will have a huge effect on the rig especially while using autocad? bc i might get a ssd if the difference in performance from downgrading the cpu is not significant enough bc the price gap between the cpu is about 180 to 200 ish.
*
Look for Palit/Zotac branded GTX1060 for budget card.

6500's single core clock speed is higher than 6400 and 6402P by quite a large margin, apps which rely heavily on single core (or single threaded operation) will benefit from the higher clock speed of 6500, so in general, it will only affect the time needed to finish a render (slightly longer time, but not much) in AutoCAD and lower frame rates in Cities: Skylines (this game is very CPU demanding).
