What type of running program are you looking for ?
there are many free running clinic conducted by garmin, nike, NBRC, etc..
These should start again next year.

did half marathon before?

just find a weekend do a 35km long slow distance to let your leg muscles get used of it.
daily run around 6km to 8km if possible.

I'm having the same intention too, what's the best pace to run? Is 8 minutes per km ok?

depends on your fitness, age, health condition.

lsd take around pace 730 to 8.

the key is to be consistence, dont rush your stamina in the beginning.

i know its feeling good to run fast in early stage, but you have to keep the pace in order to finish the race WITHOUT ANY INJURIES.

just remember at least do a 35km lsd before the race, doesn't matter if its fast or slow, just do it.

Hi,
You are looking for free or paid program? Or looking for a running club?

You can join the NB, garmin, merrell, north face, etc, they organize weekend runs, running clubs at their facebook. Some are free.

Or you can go checkout Jeff Galloway, Hal Higdon, Jack Daniel, Hanson Marathon Method (HMM), if you are looking for a structured program. Some have a book that you can buy.

Hi,

What is the most consistent timing for a regular distance run you did?

Say a 5k distance, your most recent timing is 30 mins, go find a racing predictor, and plug the figure into calculator it will predict your marathon finishing time... with 30 mins for 5k, most people will tell you about 4 hours to 5 hours with proper training.

How do you know if the pace 8 min/km is the right marathon pace for you? Depend on fitness level, and generally your HR will tell you. For some, 8 min/km is a good pace, others it may be too easy while for most people, it may be a challenge. A good marathon pace is a pace where HR is at zone 3 and you can have a proper conversation.

All the best.

Wow, 7:30 to 8. My best average pace is 8, others around 8 to 9 sweat.gif

Btw what's lsd? Really noob here. I agree with not starting fast in early stage, I usually walk fast before starts jogging.

And 35km is total of running rite? Not at one time.

Thanks for the advice. Sometimes I did manage to get 7:10 for 1km once but others are between 8 to 9 minutes for 1km. I haven't reach 30 minutes for 5km, still around 40 minutes plus.

lsd = long slow distance

like what i said, it highly depends on your age, fitness and health.

for example, me 27years old, my lsd pace is around 730. marathon pace is pace 6.

maybe you're around 30 to 40 years old, just started running, dont really have much fitness level. hence you need to find your comfortable and consistence pace.

in your case, maybe its pace 8 or 9. it doesn't matter.

the goal is to complete a full marathon by yourself WITHOUT ANY INJURIES, not competing with people.

35km is one time run. you need to stress your leg muscles to that distance or else most likely you will be hitting the wall on the race day.

Hi Melissa,

Read this article below:

https://www.runnersworld.com/training/a2279...ing-a-marathon/

It will provide free guidance.

Next go look for nike free running app on mobile android, i did try it once, reasonably good and free.

Then go find some running kaki, may be you will need new friends. Not many sane people run so much... 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you very much for your advice, really appreciate if. I'm very concern about injuries, I'll immediately stop if something is not right. Anyway, I've started running and manage to get below 8 minutes. So far I've managed to reduce from 10 minutes to 9 minutes and now below 8. Gonna stick around 7 minutes plus until I can stretch my km.

Thanks for the link, will follow accordingly thumbsup.gif

I've already got Mi Band and have been using the Mi Fit app. So far so good but the GPS kinda mess up, there was once my track shown I was running on the lake laugh.gif

But others like timing, pace or stride seems ok.

Btw, you mean melizakhoo is it? Sure, why not.

Hi,

I was referring to the nike app, it is not a GPS or like strava, it is an online coach, free no fee, that can tailor a training program of runs for a target race, it will ask you questions before tailoring the schedule, it has "recalibration of paces" for you, it will ask you to run some speedwork after a period and adjust for you the remaining workout.

Go try it out...

Hi guys, i have a nagging question that i want to ask those who run ultra martahon (40+km).

How fit are you?

If you guys perform HIIT, do you guys not tired as well and can go for hours?

Fit as ultra runner lo

Ultra is different game plan. You run, walk, eat, craw to complete the ultra. Strong mental is important.

More on endurance , when endurance base is solid, then go a little bit faster
