QUOTE(littlefire @ Feb 15 2017, 08:39 AM) Service record, any modification history from previous owner, accident record (Check for any bad welding or not under the car frame, body panel mis-align), engine block / head leaking, gear change smooth or not.. All these need to be check by reputable mechanic like AE in KL if possible. not sifu, just stating what i know as i'm driving the same gen impreza yr2009, EJ20.Most important - Your friend got lots of cash or not? Sti need to pump Ron97 above, maintenance not cheap and need to change lubricant frequently. If not mistaken every 5000km for Fully Syn oil due to turbo. EJ20/25 is also timing belt driving, so will need to keep some cash for it also. Any sifu here can help explain more? common issue = 1. radiator top, if it's still stock and not changed to aftermarket full alu radiator, usually will fail around 80-100k km. 2. PS Pump - commonly fail around 80-100k km, i'm at 120+k, showing signs of failure now.. 3. Aircond compressor - also commonly around 80-100k km. 4. Aircond condensor leak - mine failed around 120k km 5. timing belt + water pump and pulley - every 80k km other than those, the rest are just normal wear and tear just like any other car. if you live near southern region, there are tonnes of pro-scooby workshop in SG. |

QUOTE(littlefire @ Feb 17 2017, 10:11 AM) But in Taiwan.. Yes.. Their Forester sales is even better compare to Toyota Rav4.. Maybe take from Taiwan website? I'd say it's also rare in taiwan (taipei at least), and the RAV4 is even rarer.. LOL..I travel to both this location for work frequently. In Taiwan, Subaru is known as 速霸路。 In China, Subaru is known as 斯巴鲁。 |

QUOTE(ejfong @ Mar 21 2017, 09:21 AM) i'm driving a 3rd gen impreza, and below are my config:i have a 4 years old and a 5 years old, and i uses a bucket type seat for the younger, and a high back booster for my elder. both seat placed side by side with the bucket behind driver seat(front facing, secured using the seatbelt in autolocking mode, strapped with built-in 5 point seatbelt), and the high back booster in the middle, secured using the lower tether, and strapped using the middle 3 point seatbelt. so, in this config, i can take 2 additional adult excluding myself and the kids. so, as long as the forester has auto-locking seatbelt, and lower tether, you should be able to use the same config. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(ejfong @ Mar 21 2017, 11:05 AM) ahh yes thats a nie n comprehensive view... i wonder if subaru foresters woyuld come with 7 seater in future? what with honda n mazda etc... Subaru only have 2 7-seater model.they refreshed the Exiga lineup with new 2.5NA engine(old model was 2.0T), but the design itself is dated, and is unlikely to be launched in malaysia. Not sure if they'll release another Tribeca replacement model, since the last model did very badly in US, and was essentially discontinued.. QUOTE(LongExp @ Mar 27 2017, 01:02 PM) It will be a blessing if the priced goes according with the reduced feature. it should be pointed out that the "active torque vectoring" offered in the new Impreza/XV is actually brake based torque vectoring, which applies brakes automatically onto the inside wheel, to help the car steer better. This is very different from the rest of the active torque vectoring machine, which provides more torque to the outside wheel. Some of the features comes in a group based on a system or sensor. Eyesight - pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, high beam assist. Rear Vehicle Detection - Blind spot detection and lane change assist; and rear cross traffic alert. Eyesight is definitely out. Rear Vehicle Detection doubt so because Levorg CBU don't have. It will be a blessing if they provide as an option. What's left? Active torque vectoring - I think this is very likely available for competitive reason. Head lights steering responsive - very unlikely too. Paddle shift & reverse camera - should be standard for Premium models. There goes your 50%. I think is more like 70%. so it remains to be seen if this is actually a pros or cons, and how long can the brake pads lasts.. |

QUOTE(Sovon @ Mar 31 2017, 06:58 PM) need to ask SC about it cos it shouldn't be this way. Gear 5 for top speed, I agree but when reach gear 6 it shld power enough to increase speed even it take longer time and not struggling to maintain speed of 140km/h. More ever I talking about speed of 140km/h and not 180km/h. It's perfectly normal, in manual car, the 5, or 6th(if available) is the overdrive gear. And in geared auto cars, usually the top gear is the od gear. In civic FD's 5AT, the 4th and 5th gear are actually OD. And you can't expect OD gear to accelerate much. It's just a matter of whether the engine is in the peak torque band when you're in particular gear to determine how fast or whether it will accelerate at all, or struggling to maintain speed. |

for those who are asking for a 7 seater subaru, your prayers have been answered. arriving in US showroom in 2018.
Looking at the progress from Viziv7 concept to this Ascent concept, i'd say the exterior now looks production ready, and the interior will probably be toned down by the time it hits production. Subaru Ascent but chances of it making its way into malaysia, i think is close to 0... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by kevin613: Apr 13 2017, 10:23 AM |

QUOTE(Zot @ Apr 13 2017, 10:27 AM) Depends on the 7-seater trend in Malaysia. Now, majority is van-like mass mover company use. The 7-seater SUV is really just 5 (+2) type. It is really not meant for more than 5 adults. So, I agree with you. Very unlikely. Maybe for special order on the contrary, if you look at the interior photo, this is actually good for 6 adults.. it's layout is 2+2+3, with 2 pilot seats in the middle row. |
