Are you sure it's merely a software? I thought the hardware would be integrated with it like a firmware.

As I understand it... It's mainly software. However and as you've pointed out. With the latest models, there have been hardware changes done here and there, that enable said software work even better. So yeah, its a combo thing. Can't truly have one without the other. Besides, even if purely software, I doubt it'd be loaded into older models.

thanks bro! exactly, the GVC being tested oversea and i believe the GVC engaged once you have a sharp turn at certain speed. anyway it just some minor changes zoom zoom all the way!

a good question, i just found an article
i believe it is sort like a "software tweak" that used to enhance the handling by reducing the wheel torque when turns. this is interesting, time to read
https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/230819-...a-better-driverTo clarify the confusion, it is like a souped up ESP, but Mazda's own programming. It needed better sensors and calibration, hence it can't be retrofitted to non facelifted models.
GVC is active constantly, unlike ESP/brake actuated torque vectoring which only stays on stand by and only activates when wheel slip/loss of traction is detected. It works alongside the yaw and steering angle sensor to deliver the smoothest possible drive by minimising mid corner corrections or constant little corrections to keep the car straight through changes in torque to wheels by adjusting ignition timing. It is a very advanced solution that even the continentals have not thought of and testament to the technological innovation that Mazda have. It could be licensed to other manufacturers if Mazda decides to do so.
It is so good to the fact that it is practically imperceptible to drivers, and that is confusing to people as they can't "feel" it! ESP is still there for drastic situations that are beyond the capabilities of GVC.
