Well, to go full speed in the practice session does have the risk of the car crashing, and in addition, its raining.

Kimi seems confidence bout this upcoming race..

Funny you should say that. Kimi crashed his car in the practice session heavily because of the rain

QUOTE
Williams have decided to call off their testing in Barcelona following shunts from Kazuki Nakajima and Nico Rosberg.

Japanese test driver Kazuki Nakajima crashed heavily on the first day of the test which hindered the Grove-based teams' testing programme.

Rain affected day two of the test and on Wednesday German driver Nico Rosberg crashed heavily at turn seven, severely damaging the right side of his FW27.

In consequence, the team have decided to cancel the fourth day of the test.

"Nico went on a kerb a bit too much just before the corner and there did not seem to be much rubber on that kerb, possibly from the rain yesterday, and that was it," Williams' Chief Operations Engineer Rod Nelson told autosport.com at Barcelona.

"His car swapped its ends and crashed into the wall. The bodywork is all finished and the monocoque we are looking at it now but does not look good either," he added.

"It really has not been our week but Nico is okay and we are going home now. In Malaysia we had a good test and a bad race so hopefully is will be the other way round here!"

QUOTE(Hornet @ May 8 2007, 04:01 PM)
yep. cars cannot get close enough through high speed turns...

but problem is after that still have the final fast corner. If me, i'd rather straight replace the final corner with that chicane tongue.gif
*
The chicane will mean that the final corner will now be taken in 3rd gear instead of fifth during teh old layout. Slow enough to get the car bunched up but fast enough for the chasing car to get a toe through the finish straight

From what i hear, slicks might be coming back with the new concorde agreement. Less winglet = less rear downforce = more the teams develp the rear wing to maximise the downforce as possible = more turbulent air. See where I'm going here?

anyways.... Money makes the Formula 1 world goes round. I wonder whats the GPDA's view on this. I forsee them not wanting it to be done after the first practice. for one, street circuit needs to use super soft tyre because of the none grippy nature. And now they need ultra super soft because it's harder to get them up to temperature at night..

Ironically, I disagree with Raikkonen. I think McLaren made the same mistake that they did in Malaysia qualifying, 1 lap too much fuel, which lost him pole. But I forsee him longer than Massa on fuel. Lewis is definately very heavy on fuel

Hamilton seems to be very optimistic about his chances

=O !

but Kimi seems to have the edge in sectors 1 and 2

According to him, he has the best strategy of all the 4 drivers. He should be the last person to stop for fuel, and if he can squeeze past kimi, he should be in a good shape for another podium.

Ah, finally mah PC is back up again
What I see during the Grand Prix

On Star Sports
- Star Sports needs to get better commentator. They are so sure that Fernando was light fuelled that I think they were cursing he pitted at the same lap as Massa.
- They obviously never met captain Obvious
- Commercial at the wrong time meant we never see Kimi broke his car.

On The Race
- the chicane was the most useless thing in Spain since David Beckham
- they need to adjust the pit lane entry. That right hand kink leading to a wall is dangerous as DC nearly collided there
- First corner incident damages the McLaren's undertray more than the commentator's think. look at the replay and see the debris flying from under the car
- Massa should have let go at that incident. Fernando had already got the line and the place.
- This was Massa's 3rd bad start in a row. Fortunately for him the straight at Bahrain and Spain was not long enough for a repeat of Sepang
- Massa's bad start means that Kimi was squeezed into Lewis and loses his place
- The marshall needs to buck up. They did not clear up Wurz's mess and led to Speed's tyre blow out

The Teams
- there are no team orders at both Ferrari and McLaren. Let see how long that will last
- Kimi retired due to "electrical". Over the years it's always either "electrical" or "hydraulics". It's never the engine

Lol, I wonder if Kimi thinks that he has a jinx with all the cars that he drove. also if shumacher had anything to do with it. Contrary to what ppl said, Schumacher and Kimi don't have a good relation. He even told Jean Todt to "shut that phone off" when Schumacher called him on winning the Aussie GP

Lewis stars in Paul Ricard test
QUOTE
Lewis Hamilton is doing his best to keep the hype alive after setting the quickest time in testing in France.
Eleven teams were present and each team sent one driver around the short and tight 2D SC course at Paul Ricard which simulates the Monte Carlo circuit.
The McLaren driver proved that the Woking-based team should be well suited to the Monaco Grand Prix by setting the fastest time.
Championship rivals Ferrari were off the pace as the Spanish Grand Prix winner Felipe Massa managed the sixth best time of the day.
In windy conditions Toyota's Ralf Schumacher clocked the second quickest time while World Champions Renault showed improvement as Nelson Piquet Jr finished third fastest and completed 125 laps.
Red Bull's Mark Webber completed similar mileage on the way to finishing fourth quickest as the Austrian team continues to evaluate their new seamless shift gearbox.
On the back of his sixth-place finish in Spain Nico Rosberg set the fifth fastest time in his Williams.

Stewart questions Kimi`s commitment
QUOTE
Sir Jackie Stewart has questions Kimi Raikkonen's commitment after the Finn stormed away from the Barcelona circuit following his retirement on Sunday.
Raikkonen failed to see the checkered flag in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix after an electrical problem forced him to park his car.
However, rather than stay behind to watch team-mate Felipe Massa's victory, Raikkonen was reportedly on his way to the airport less than half an hour after retiring from the race.
The Finn's actions have - not for the first time - raised doubts about his commitment to Formula One, with Stewart claiming that Raikkonen isn't willing to make the sacrifices needed to become a World Champion.
"It is an attitude, a mentality, a way of doing business. Our lifestyle, mind, make-up was different from a Raikkonen - or for that matter a Jenson Button," the former World Champion told the Daily Express.
"There are other things in Raikkonen's life he still wishes to carry on doing.
"He doesn't seem prepared to make the sacrifice of reducing the lifestyle he has chosen because he enjoys it. He is not prepared to compromise.
"That is why Hamilton has the opportunity to be dominant over time and Raikkonen doesn't, unless something substantial changes."

STR deny 2007 race-seat for Senna
QUOTE
The Senna name could return to the Formula One grid - but not in 2007.
Bruno Senna, the nephew of the late three-time world champion Ayrton Senna, won his first race in GP2, F1's feeder series, in Spain at the weekend.
Speculation has mounted that Toro Rosso boss Gerhard Berger, who drove
alongside Ayrton Senna at McLaren between 1990 and 1992, will ditch one of Scott Speed or Tonio Luizzi after a poor start to the season to accommodate the 23-year-old.
However, speaking to Bild newspaper, Berger revealed that Bruno Senna will have to wait until "2008 at the earliest" for his big break in F1.
It is also reported that Champ Car star Sebastien Bourdais will be given the second seat in a revamped driver line-up for next season.

and on the 10 conclusion, I do not agree on Fernando is struggling. It's more on him not suited to the car the way he liked. The McLaren is vastly different from the Renault, and Martin Whitemarsh himself said that it would be a difficult car for Fernando who was accustomed to the Renault. It's the same with Kimi, and like I've said before, it's not a suprise to see Massa and Lewis faster than Fernando or Kimi. Massa having developed the Ferrari himself during the season, and Lewis has no prior F1 drive, thus he's more adaptable.

yes, and you could say that to schumacher when he drove into the wall under pressure with hill steaming up behind him, and what did he do? he went straight into hill to make sure hill retired, thus winning the 1994 world championship. And like he said, Hill should have make way for him, ironically he had broken his suspension at the time and was due to retire anyway.
While you can say what you want watching from the outside, can you say the same when you are in the cockpit? even on the onboard shot of the McLaren, it looked like he gave massa enough room, and Massa still barge into him. Massa could have taken that corner without barging, and that's what Fernando was angry about as it could have ruined both of the cars, not mentioning causing a pile up.
