I admit I'm not professional at calculating this yet, but in the league I did try it a number of times. That was just comparing the person closest to me (about 2-3 seconds) so the rate of calculating correctly was quite high. Anyway nvm about that...I get what you're saying.

No lar, both can only be adjusted at pitstop, while tyre pressure can be monitored by the crew, no way they can adjust that. What they can adjust is engine mapping, and electronic devices (basic inputs) only

While it was Ron that hyping this issue, it was not McLaren alone that raised the issue to the FIA after the Melbourne's race

Ron was the one brought up the mass damper issue as well
*
Actually, that was misleading. After the banning of the mass damper, Briatore stated that other teams tried them and cannot emulate how renault used their mass damper, and he says that McLaren and Ferrari are the ones that told the FIA of the mass damper. But after the season had finished, he retracted that earlier statement, saying that McLaren had nothing to do with the banning, and only Ferrari was involved.

^ Next Tuesday I think, teams will be testing in sepang. I wonder if people can go watch the test, lol....
ferrari was indeed told to change their wings along with few other teams... and in the end, all teams are told to put a small stuff between the rear wing elements.

so yeah, we can say its fair last season... but this clearly has to stop. each time if someone complains and then the FIA move to ban it, then this shows something wrong is going on because FIA always check all cars and make sure they are legal, they dont need others to tell them what to do.

I personally disagree with complains lodge by a team against others, even if its Ferrari. I don't want my supported team to try and put others in a disadvantage by complaining about their car, it doesn't make a team look good that way.
*
For me, complains are/will/and have been an integral part of F1. Just don't overdo it.

Added on March 22, 2007, 6:28 pmSomehow this testing will not be usefull for renault if it stays wet like this

Oh murray, how I miss thee

QUOTE(Murray Walker)
"Do my eyes deceive me, or is Senna's Lotus sounding rough ?"

"Alboreto has dropped back up to fifth place"

"I can't imagine what kind of problem Senna has. I imagine it must be some sort of grip problem"

"He is shedding buckets of adrenalin in that car"

"So Bernie [Ecclestone], in the seventeen years since you bought McLaren, which of your many achievements do you think was the most memorable ?" Bernie Answers, "Well I don't remember buying McLaren." [Bernie Ecclestone used to own the Brabham team].

Murray: "What's that? There's a BODY on the track!!!"
James: "Um, I think that that is a piece of BODY-WORK, from someone's car."

"I don't want to tempt fate but Damon Hill is now only half a lap from his first Grand Prix win and..and HE'S SLOWING DOWN, DAMON HILL IS SLOWING DOWN..HE'S..HE'S STOPPED."

"...Cruel luck for Alesi, second on the grid. That's the first time he had started from the front row in a Grand Prix, having done so in Canada earlier this year..."

"And there's the man in the green flag!"

Murray: And look at the flames coming from the back of Berger's McLaren
James: Actually, Murray, they're not flames, it's the safety light.

"...and there's no damage to the car.....except to the car itself."

"This is an interesting circuit because it has inclines, and not just up, but down as well."

"Only a few more laps to go and then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is."

"Tambay's hopes , which were nil before, are absolutely zero now."

"You can't see a digital clock because there isn't one."

"The Italian GP at Monaco..."

"...the enthusiastic enthusiasts..."

"As you can see, visually, with your eyes..."

"Andrea de Cesaris...the man who has won more Grands Prix than anyone else without actually winning one of them."

"And we have had 5 races so far this year, Brazil, Argentina, Imola, Schumacher and Monaco!"

"And Damon Hill is coming into the pit lane, yes it's Damon Hill coming into the Williams pit, and Damon Hill in the pit, no it's Michael Schumacher! "

"Mansell is slowing it down, taking it easy. Oh no he isn't! It's a lap record."

"Into lap 53, the penultimate last lap but one"

"There are a lot of IFs in Formula One, in fact IF is Formula One backwards!"

"And that just shows you how important the car is in Formula One Racing."

"A battle is developing between them. I say developing, because it's not yet on."

"A sad ending, albeit a happy one."

"And Edson Arantes di Nascimento, commonly known to us as Pele, hands the award to Damon Hill, commonly known to us as Damon Hill."

"And Michael Schumacher is actually in a very good position. He is in last place."

"And now, excuse me while I interrupt myself."

"And there's no damage to the car - except to the car itself."

"Are they on a one-stopper? Are they on a two? And when I say they, who do I mean? Well, I don't know. It could be anybody."

"Either the car is stationary, or it's on the move."

"Even in five years time, he will still be four years younger than Damon Hill."

"Fantastic! There are four different cars filling the first four places."

"He can't decide whether to leave his visor half open or half closed. "

"I don't know what happened, but there was a major malmisorganization problem there."

"I should imagine that the conditions in the cockpit are totally unimaginable."

"I've no idea what Eddie Irvine's orders are, but he's following them superlatively well."

"If the gloves weren't off before, and they were, they sure are now!"

"In twelfth and thirteenth, the two Jaguars of Eddie Irvine."

"It looks as though this year there will be seventeen Grands Prix for the World Championship, compared with the traditional seventeen."

"Now he must not go the wrong way round the circuit, and unless he can spin himself stationary through 360 degrees I fail to see how he can avoid doing so."

"Prost can see Mansell in his earphones."

"So this being Michael Schumacher's 10th race in his 151st year in F1."

"That's history. I say history because it happened in the past."

"The boot's on the other Schumacher now!"

"The lead car is unique, except for the one behind it which is identical."

"There are seven winners of the Monaco Grand Prix on the starting line today, and four of them are Michael Schumacher."

"There's nothing wrong with the car except that it's on fire."

"This will be Williams' first win since the last time a Williams won."

"Well, now we have exactly the same situation as at the beginning of the race, only exactly opposite."

"You can cut the tension with a cricket stump."

"You might not think that's cricket, and it's not, it's motor racing."

Spyker F1 have decided to skip the Sepang test and rather test new components from their base in England.

Chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne says that the rationale behind this is that the team would not have enough time to adequately test new innovations which were developed at the team's Aerolab.

The modifications to the F8-VII car include new barge boards, sidepod inlets, revised bodywork and a revised diffuser.

"With the upgrades we're planning to introduce for the second race, it would not be possible to get them onto the car in time for the Sepang test," said Gascoyne.

"The race cars will be shipped direct to Malaysia from Australia, but the team will be flat out modifying the cars in time for the Grand Prix."

Gascoyne also explained how missing the Sepang test will not hinder the team's progress.

He added: "Participating in the Malaysia test would stretch our resources; we're a small team and we have to pay careful attention to how we allocate the budget.

"We would only run one car without the modifications for three days, but we know the track, we know the tyres and with the extra running time afforded by the Friday practice days now, we will get an opportunity to run the new bodywork before the racing starts.

"Missing the test will not put us at a disadvantage."

Sadly for you I disagree. He is by far the best and most consistent Asian driver out there, and can hold his own. Considering that he managed to wrestle a car with faulty steering to third place in the LeMans series (Team Racing for Holland), he seems more capable of more than anyone give credit for

And thus why do some ppl still have this kind of grudge on him? He's showing what Asian drivers can do, and unlike Sato or Yamamoto who is in F1 just solely to sell Honda cars, he really have the skills. and if not for him, there will be no Junior Formula in Malaysia to search for more talents. Give him a break dude. It's not his fault that his car was shitty in F1. And even in A1, many other more recognised driver like Thomas Enge and Jos "The Boss" finished consistently lower than him.

From what I remembered, some use yellow while other red. but this was confusing, thus they standardised it. But I usually look at the helmet, so I don't notice the transponder's colour very much

And the fact that there are no more team orders means that both Ferrari drivers can be taken out by themselves.

Anyways
Willis demotion blamed for Honda`s decline
QUOTE
Shuhei Nakamoto's appointment as Senior Technical Director has been pinpointed as the cause of Honda's shocking performance at the season-opening Australian GP.
Both of the team's cars were hampered by a crippling lack of grip around Albert Park, with team principal Nick Fry acknowledging afterwards that "we have an aerodynamic problem."

While Fry continues to speak bullishly about the team rectifying their flaws to be "up there with Renault and BMW by the start of the European season", turnarounds on such a scale are a rare occurrence in F1. Moreover, team personnel reportedly have lost confidence in the ability of their Japanese Technical Director to deliver a competitive car.
'We have it on good authority that an increasing number of Honda techies now firmly believe it was a mistake to replace Geoff Willis with Shuhei Nakamoto as technical director last July [it was actually in June]. It was, after all, the developments instigated by Willis - not Nakamoto - that resulted in Jenson Button outscoring every other driver in the last six races of 2006,' claims F1 Racing Magazine.
Although Honda predicted a slow start to the season in Australia, they had not expected to be so far adrift of the lead runners. While the Brackley-based outfit had realised since the advent of winter testing that they would be out-paced by the likes of Ferrari and McLaren, it hadn't contemplated being outpaced by Super Aguri - who were, of course, using the Willis-inspired RA106 to embarrass their 'A' team in Melbourne.
Nakamoto has not gone on record to explain why the R107 was so uncompetitive - Engineering Director Jacky Eeckelaert was the sole technical voice to speak on the team's press releases from Australia - while Willis has not yet returned to F1 since walking out on the team a day after he was demoted to focus on 'aerodynamic development'.
Honda refused to appoint a replacement for Willis following his exit, appointing Mariano Alperin-Bruvera to head the aerodynamics group using the team's new wind tunnel, and the upshot appears to have been a major malfunction with the aerodynamic construction of this year's charger.
To compound matters, Fry's pledge that the team would "work flat-out [in the wind tunnel] to find a fix" may only expand their shortcomings. ITV reporter Ted Kravitz quoted one unnamed Technical Director in his post-Australian GP report musing whether the tunnel had been 'incorrectly calibrated when it was rushed into service last year, as he found it inconceivable that a team of professional aerodynamicists could do such a bad job.'
Massa: `I will bounce back`
QUOTE
Felipe Massa insists he will bounce back from his disappointing Australian GP, which saw him finish sixth after starting from the back of the grid.

Massa was one of the favourites to win the season-opening race after impressing during winter testing and again in Friday's practice. However, a gearbox problem and a subsequent engine change had the Brazilian starting the grand prix from the very back of the grid.

Massa, however, drove a mature and strong race to finish in sixth place, while his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen claimed the victory from pole position.

"After the Australian GP, I was told that a lot of the media wrote I drove a very good race from the back of the grid to finish in the points in sixth place," Massa said.

"But while I agree that the race itself was good, I was not so happy with the outcome of the weekend, because of the circumstances that prevented me qualifying properly the previous day.

"But in the end I had a good Australian Grand Prix, a good race and that is encouraging for the next few rounds of the championship.

"There was no doubt that I was competitive in Melbourne from the first laps on track on Friday. Everything was set for me to get a great result."

The Ferrari driver also reckons he could have given his team-mate a good fight for the victory had he started from the front of the grid.

"If I had started from the front, it could definitely have been a very competitive race between me and Kimi, especially if I'd made two stops, starting on the right tyres and being in optimum conditions in every way," he said. "I am sure it would have been a very good race for me."

The Brazilian is now focusing his attention on the second race of the season, the Malaysian Grand Prix, where he hopes to claim his first victory of the year.

"I just have to think ahead," he added. "(There is) a fresh chance in the next race at Sepang and (I am) looking forward to being at the front."

Cocaine has been found at one of the hotels used by Formula One drivers for the recent Australian Grand Prix.

The country's national broadcaster ABC said organisers for the event, as well as organisers of the World Swimming Championships that was also held recently in Melbourne, had been informed of the discovery at the Parkview Hotel.

The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) had tested bags that were found at the hotel last Tuesday.

F1's governing body, the FIA, took a tough stance on cocaine use earlier this year when GT

driver Luca Moro was suspended for two years after failing a urine test.

The last single seater driver sanctioned by the FIA, meanwhile, was Tomas Enge in 2002. He had his F3000 title stripped after testing positive for cannabis.

The drugs were found at the place they stayed, which means, nothing. There are other ppl that went there to get a room other than the F1 fraternity

Robert Kubica has reinforced BMW's boast that they are now capable of challenging for wins by setting the fastest time on the opening day of testing in Malaysia.

The Pole's best lap of 1:36.187 was fractionally quicker than that of Kimi Raikkonen, the race winner in Australia two weeks ago. It's believed that Kubica used a modified gearbox to counter the problem that caused his Melbourne retirement.

Williams also served notice of their apparent return to form through Alex Wurz finishing third-fastest with a near-identitcal time to Raikkonen's. The team expressed concern at their one-lap pace around Albert Park and appear to have gone some way to rectifying that deficinency already in Malaysia.

However, taken at face value, the most surprising time of the day was that of Rubens Barrichello. Honda endured a miserable Australian GP, lapping two seconds slower than Raikkonen's Ferrari. But the Brazilian was able to set the fourth-fastest time on Tuesday, barely half-a-second adrift of the Finn and ahead of the lone McLaren, driven by Pedro de la Rosa.

The Spaniard will be replaced by Lewis Hamilton on Wednesday, with Fernando Alonso given the week off.

Times:
1) Kubica BMW-Sauber 1:36.187 - 92 laps
2) Raikkonen Ferrari 1:36.302 - 54 laps
3) Wurz Williams-Toyota 1:36.334 - 89 laps
4) Barrichello Honda 1:36.826 - 82 laps
5) De la Rosa McLaren-Mercedes 1:37.106 - 60 laps
6) Montagny Toyota 1:37.267 - 73 laps
7) Sato Super Aguri-Honda 1:37.389 - 72 laps
8) Coulthard Red Bull-Renault 1:37.609 - 82 laps
9) Piquet Renault 1:38.199 - 32 laps
10) Speed Toro Rosso-Ferrari 1:38.503 - 69 laps

Added on March 27, 2007, 11:54 pmThe spectre of a ten-place grid demotion still hangs over Kimi Raikkonen after Ferrari confirmed that his engine will require further inspection in Malaysia.

Although the Finn won comfortably at the season-opening Australian GP, he was forced to slow down in the closing stages of the race due to fears that his engine was developing a water leak. Any such problem will be exacerbated, potentially terminally, in the searing heat of Sepang next weekend.

"We had a small water leakage so the pressure dropped a little. And we were concerned about water temperature of course. That is why we asked him to be careful," Ferrari's engine chief Gilles Simon clarified.

Should Ferrari err on the side of caution and change the engine ahead of qualifying then Raikkonen would suffer a demotion of ten grid places - exactly the same penalty that his team-mate Felipe Massa endured in Melbourne on what proved to be a frustrating weekend for the Brazilian.
