Saga used to have better handling before the Axia now build on the new DNGA chassis and with its bullet proof 1KR-VE engine strong enough to be turboed for Ativa, it provides a good hatchback alternative to Saga pricing wise and even outhandles the shaky Bezza at highway speed.

Extra 4K for SE lots of cosmetics eg skirtings, interior chromes although the DRL and tint might be desired together w rev counter.

Basically you need to test drive (alone & with family, friends) at least twice for better decision.

If car loan applied, try to minimize the loan period down to 5 years.

If considering used car, any new car with 5 year warranty now would be a more reliable option.



S70 Exec 74K 226Nm @1750rpm moving 1300kg should give you sufficient torque for smooth long distance travel.
(Suprima 205Nm @2000rpm moving 1375kg)

Pay extra 16K for Vios 90K might as well get Alza - same engine, gearbox, chassis, third row seats folded for extra space.

Different management.

I had a few wonderful protons with mitsu engines and switch to P2 before Waja.

Once Geely came in and stabilised their logistics recently, their models worth considering. S70 is pretty good value so far worth a test drive for Preve, Suprima owners thinking about replacements under 90K.

Drove the 2.0 and 2.5 a few times, to be frank I can't tell the difference apart from the slightly faster acceleration like 1sec? if floored. Normal driving same2.

Unless you need the extra torque to pull trailer, motorhome or like the 19" rims instead of 17, really not much reason to pay extra roadtax for 2.5 each year.

Further points to consider
a. Do you need a car to for groceries 5KM away or is it backup for wife mazda2 how old and keep how many more years?
b. Inspira already 12 years in a week. Not sure if you can get loan. How long do you intend to keep it, maybe till 17?
c. Future family growth eg kids? Inspira and Mazda2 combo ok?

My general feedback for couples is try not to have 2 old cars to maintain. One car should be relatively new preferably still under warranty. If you already have other cars please ignore this.

It sounds like money is not a big issue? Correct me if wrong.
Two options from me (wait others comment too..)

A. Ask wife uncle recommend a good mechanic to check the Inspira and estimate repairs and future maintenance. That should help allocate sufficient budget for next 5 years. If family grows, then can relook options again

B. Make wife happy put aside your Lancer hobby and get a new car.

This should cover your family needs next 10 years including ferrying your dogs to groomers with third row seats folded for 500 liter space. Wife can drive new car while you use the 8 yr old Mazda for shorter runs.

If reliability is a priority, would rather get new unless you know the owner of the used unit or is knowledgeable in that make and model issues and can check carefully.

Suggest transfer 2019 Myvi to your name
Later register new car under wife name (sell old myvi).
(assuming she has 55% ncd and yours is zero)
You can still drive the new car, wife use 2019 myvi

Then,
test drive with wife the new 70-100K options

SUV - Ativa X50 WRV X70
MPV - Alza Xpander

For New there are only 2 engines more power than Bezza 1.3 in cars below 60K

Hence the Myvi has a better power ratio each HP pulling 9.9Kg at max rev (assuming power curve and cvt loss is the same for both cars). Low volume Iriz disregarded.

Like Zenix feedback, the jalan2 whole semenanjung makes it difficult to recommend cos that requires larger safer sedan.
Opposite of going pasar, send kids etc shorter distance.
Like kapchai cannot tour malaysia safely need cruiser.

Btw, new automatic cars are close to 40K so unless your budget increase can only look at used cars.

CX-5 is a bigger, heavier, better handling (multi link rear suspension) 2.0l engine vs the smaller more utilitarian HRV 1.8l with soft suspension that wallows beyond speed limits.

However the interior is similar in size with the space specialist Honda offering the useful ultra seats.

If you drive faster and prioritise handling, Mazda would be the more expensive choice. Else for easier cheaper maintenance and you can live with a slight CVT lag, then this previous HRV version will do just fine.

Hmm, without going into technical data,
the Geely 1.5 turbo for me is like one generation behind Honda's. And the 3cyl does vibrate louder than HRV's 4cyl Turbo(even w timing chain)

Thats why you pay slighly over 110K for X50 flagship with TGDi engine (the less powerful 1.5T variant only 100K) instead of 130-140K for HRV (ignore the underpowered 1.5NA variant)

Why do you need a B-segment SUV?
If you share your requirements in the standard format, state your budget etc, the rest can give recommendations

Why a D-segment sedan for 20KM solo daily?

Maybe you need to balik kampong occasionally with family > 500KM?

Should decide on the car size first to suit your needs.
