A bit hard to choose, haha. feel have few dives first then AOWD. On the other side, upgrade to AOWD with same cost paying for fun dives...  sad.gif

Haha. Really up to you. I also like to experience different environment and instructors so if I were you, I would just do leisure and do my AOW with someone else. With more dives, you get to meet more people and maybe get an idea of what kind of instructor you wanna engage in the future.

My OW, AOW, Rescue, Nitrox and Sidemount certs all done by different instructors sweat.gif Almost did my wreck at Brunei but cancelled due to sea conditions then. So yea, come to think of it, all different instructors lol. Learn different experiences from different instructors based at different places tongue.gif

ah... back on land (sadly). Pulau Bidong / Pulau Yu - off Merang - makes for pretty good diving, lots of fish, saw some turtles, nurse sharks, and clownfish smile.gif low currents, decent viz of up to 15m. warm waters. Healthy corals.

Seamonkey Divers - good, with a big boat to take us out, and plenty divemasters. On last dive i counted one instructor and two divemasters looking out for us.

Overall, i'd say it's one place to try out. beats the crazy perhentian crowd.

Hey guys, just noticed there's a scuba diving club here.

Just got back from Mabul a few days ago, stayed at Spheredivers. Quite disappointed diving in Mabul, maybe due to overfishing by the bajau people but it was still interesting to dive at a different environment. Lobster wall was my favourite.

Will be back in Salang, Tioman soon. If you guys wanna drop over for fun dive at Azmi Dive let me know, I can give you guys packages. Hehe

If you were alright during your open water dives, I think it's ok to continue to AOWD.

Do you remember...

1) Could you setup all the gear yourself?

2) When you're at the water surface, could you descend without assistance? This means, you release air in your bcd, breathe out, and sink. Or did it take you a long time and your instructor had to come over to help?

3) When you were in the water, did you ever get stuck when you try to swim or breathe?

4) Do you have your own dive computer and know how to read it?

5) Could you do your mask clear skill?

6) Did you check your SPG by yourself throughout the dive, or only when you were asked?

7) When ascending, could you hold a safety stop, or did you go straight to surface?

These are fundamental skills that an OW diver should have when certified... if you have any doubts then you should probably get more supervision before continuing to AOW.
