Anyone uses the Sony AS50R Action Cam?
I used uw mode setting with vivid colour and the outcome wasn't really good.

Complaint to Sony and they told me to play with the white balance and don't use uw mode. I told them if like that I might as well get a gopro and just smack on a red filter.

If you were alright during your open water dives, I think it's ok to continue to AOWD.

Do you remember...

1) Could you setup all the gear yourself?

2) When you're at the water surface, could you descend without assistance? This means, you release air in your bcd, breathe out, and sink. Or did it take you a long time and your instructor had to come over to help?

3) When you were in the water, did you ever get stuck when you try to swim or breathe?

4) Could you do your mask clear skill?

5) Did you check your SPG by yourself throughout the dive, or only when you were asked?

6) When ascending, could you hold a safety stop, or did you go straight to surface?

These are fundamental skills that an OW diver should have when certified... if you have any doubts then you should probably get more supervision before continuing to AOW.

i agree with all of these before moving on to AOW. Of course you can just move on to AOW, but if you can't even do these basics, going to AOW gonna be making yourself malu only when a OW diver is doing all these better than you.

I added one more to the list - having a dive computer. A lot of diving protocol involves knowing time and depth, so it's essential.

I did my OW & AOW.. I would recommend so.. you get to experience "deep dive/wreck dive/nitrox/night dive/etc" all in one package...
another plus is, if you do both, you get discount for your AOW
A the end of the day.. your dive option are wider than OW..
I have few friends with OW.. but when I ask them to join me wreck dive/deep dive (planned end of year/early next year due to running out of AL),
not one can join me.. cry.gif

My opinion is that you should space out your dives/courses to retain those skills better. Making a few dives every few months is much better than making say, 20 dives over a week for that year. But if you do plan to dive frequently after those consecutive courses, then i'd say go ahead.

In the end, it's all about your own growth. Making pool dives, testing yourself in situations to enhance comfort in water, all counts in your personal progress.

i think the best way to put it is everyone has their own pace,no two people has the same pace. like for my case when i started appearing in this thread most people thought i was insane to jump through many loopholes before being serious but i already laid out a solid plan and intend to keep to it as per how i did things during my earlier school days although im still studying laugh.gif laugh.gif

all in all if you think you can keep up with your own rhythm go wild other wise its best to keep your feet off the gas and slow down smile.gif smile.gif

just my 2 yennies x.D
