Mitsu you mean laugh.gif

It's just awesome, as much as i liked the Pearl's black levels, The Mitsubishi's Vibrant colours and sharpness was enough to make me hooked to it. When dropped to Low lamp mode, colours became more natural and black levels soared to Pearl levels smile.gif. Having an awesome processor built in is just a plus. Watched Tokyo Drift HD-DVD at 1080i from HD-XA1 player and let Mitsu do the scaling with its near flawless Reon Processor. The Picture? Absolutely astounding! I can't imagine how it would look like when it's hooked to the Anthem Statement D2's built-in Gennum Processor, the best Video processor available. I was utterly satisfied and is definitely the better choice thanks to Punchier colour and unrivalled sharpness. Highly Reccomended.

Three years ago you had to pay upwards of $30,000 to get a 1080p projector. The fact that the Home Cinema 1080 is now available for just $2,999 illustrates how rapidly the prices have collapsed.

For Epson Pro Lite 800-USD2299, Pro Lite 810-USD2999. Kekekek...
No price for TW700... but that is Asian model right? And Pro Lite is American models.

The Lady in the Water is not horror. I didn't say its horror but from the Cover (poster) it looks like one. So, I thought it is...

Watched Aviator last night. Damn long movie but nice. Its a true story of the great Hughes. We should thank him whenever we fly or even when we watch TV or Astro...

Hiya all,

Last nite ended up watching Narnia EE - my kids luv de lovable LION King...hehehe...

Got question to ask my sifu Jason - When I watch wif de Oppo - under aspect I can only toggle between normal and 981(hdmi 720p) through - I do get de full width of de screen image - now when I watch de same disc on my pioneer 380 outputting in component - under aspect, I can toggle thru all de 7 versions but from all I get a smaller image except zoom... in zoom I get de same image size as my oppo - in info I checked and it says outputting at 525p, okay my question is why is de image shrunk on all except zoom?

Thanks

Shoot out maybe next week, the Pearl is in stock but they tak nak showcase first, if showcase people tapau so quick! I wanna see how they perform, once my Anthem D2 arrives, will be showcased at Mediaplex for 2 weeks-1 month for people to see. The Mitsu is a very nice projector, most people may choose the Pearl for its unprecedented black levels, and natural filmlike image. But, due to my family's taste of much Vibrant, punchy and sharp images, the Mitsubishi is the definite choice. Like i said, at Low lamp mode blacks were almost as good if not on par with the Pearl. on the Senemax 120" 2.0 gain screen, the Mitsu performed incredibly well, even with ambient lighting on as well as the doors open. When dark, the image is marvellous!

dirtrun, I don't quite understand why your wall/screen has a line in the middle? Is that a wire casing?

Notice packet of cigarettes there.... smoke is not condusive for projectors in long run.

Hi,

Thanks for de interests and also bro Tim's help...

I got de SvS from a Sg forum Mass Order...

Yes it is my cable casing from my rack in de front to de back of de room where the Pj is, de reason I didnt run it to de sides is my Hdmi cables was actually purchased for a smaller room but when I decided to use de living room, it became too short and thus have to run straight.

De dimensions of de room is approx'ly 15ft by 20.5ft.

And that is not a pack of smokes but a measuring tape la... nobody smokes in my home ...

My screen is being custom made as we speak, hopefully it will be up this weekend.

Cheers

This is unbelievable, sticker price of RM12k++ equivalent drool.gif This is the cheapest 1080p projector the world has seen to date. I guess have not been keeping up with the news, luckilly bor Timothyy is still trolling the projector sites. I guess the US price for the 810 (Our TW700 720p projector) will now drop to sane levels at about USD1999 ala Panny AX100. Thankfully the TW700 in Malaysia is already priced below the AX100. As such the Epson Home Cinema 1080 should slot in right under the Panny AE1000.

Not familiar with your Oppo and Pioneer, so here goes.....

When output in 720p from Oppo, the Epson TW700' scaler does not have to do any processing, so by leaving the Epson TW700 aspect setting in "Auto", the projector will just show pixel for pixel, exactly what the Oppo is sending. A question: If the Oppo is set to "Normal", will the Epson TW700 upscale to 720p and use the correct aspect? i.e.show full screen image?

Now from your info, the Pioneer cannot upscale, so by default it outputs in 480p. The Epson TW700 says 525p coz the Pioneer actually sends 525 "lines", the 480 for the picture and the other extra 45 lines contains other "information". If you are interested to know the contents of the information, google it. What I am guessing is that the TW700 cannot upscale the picture or determine the correct aspect to use for the picture. Reason: Pioneer is not sending the required information to Epson TW700. I am using an ancient Pioneer DV555K, and I have the same experience as you have described.... but only on ahem DVDs, and even then only those badly encoded. All my proper DVDs have no such problems.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for de replies...

Just to add -
I cannot toggle auto when I am on HDMI(oppo 981 as source) setting , I am allowed normal and through(I think it is normal - must go back and confirm) only 2 settings the rest are greyed out. I dunno why as I have not touched de memory feature yet( not confident to do any tweaking yet, besides might as well wait for de screen to be installed before calibrating/tweak or else have to do again once de screen comes...)
On de Pioneer 380, I can toggle thru all de aspect settings and only zoom will give me de same size pic as de one from my oppo de rest all makes de image smaller and at first I thought it was 'ahem' dvds too but then I used a R3 Con Air dvd and it did exactly de same thing - smaller images on all except ZOOM , I'll try and use summore old ori titles I have to check when I am free.
I guess this isnt much of a problem since I have found out how to get de biggest image available even though it is from one setting only from a component source, maybe I ll go ask in AVS and make those guys laugh a bit ... what, you still use components where you come from...

Bro L -- My screen is being constructed by a carpenter - I am no DIY sifu... but I have given specific instructions on what I want, even to de extent of bracing for de frame and painting of internal bare wood (which they never do unless you specify but it keeps de bugs away) I am also taking his advice on using a form of presprayed board as de screen first ( he gave me an option tat he can still mount my black out cloth material if his version turns out unacceptable) ... anyway I shall see how it turns out first.

Cheers

Bro... I might be wrong here... but heck... this is what I did...

You need to change setting for both projector and player to 16:9 in order to get full size 16:9.
Getting gray color screen... can it be due to HDMI only transfer the original DVD format? I think I am wrong here. KAkakaka

No no bro,

Wat I mean is HT pjs are already at 16:9 how to set it at 4:3, bro?

If I play 4:3 discs I still get full height pics but of cos de bars at left and rite are there unless you toggle de aspect and stretch de image - tat much is all in de manual so dat I understand. Anyway 4:3 pics are left wifout stretching, stretching it looks weird, IMO...

My question here is if it can play full size on hdmi setting, why is it smaller in a component source?

BTW I have posted an email to de CS guys at epson and also at AVS, lets see what they say, ya...

Thanks for reading and all ur help...
