Kakakka... getting a Sony HD LCD will cost you more than 10k if not mistaken. Sure got terms and condition.
Anyway, Jacky... since you already put up RM5k as budget... why not add few more hundred and get the Epson 700? I can't recomend you the AX100 as it has some prob now. You can click on my siggy on my stuff (home theater) |

Jackygwh, help u make decision.....
Do you have a dedicated room that can be fully light controlled..... and placement of projector is flexible (i.e. dun need to use a lot of zoom)? If Yes then go for Optoma HD70, Panny AE900 or Epson TW600.... all 720p but previous generation but HD ready. If No, then I have another question: Do you want to be able to use the projector anytime of the day? If Yes, then I would advise you to raise your budget a little bit to get the current generation light cannons, coz they are flexible and can watch almost anytime of the day. E.g. Panny AX100 and Epson TW700. If No, then Optoma HD70, Panny AE900 or Epson TW600. |

QUOTE(Jackygwh @ Apr 11 2007, 03:39 PM) For Optoma HD70... well... one thing... I think I have repeated many times and worry some ppl might stab me very soon... Kekeek... But this time, I think I better say something else... In USA, the list price for AX100 is $1999... HD70 is onlu $999... no need to say much... 1 sen give get 1 sen goods... I don't have any idea on TW600... but yeah... Epson was one of the few brands many Americans talk about... Ah... last night I was watching Nacho Libre... nice movie... |

Woaaa,
Slow down - de last time I checked was 2 months ago and out of de 10 or odd dealers I called only one quoted de AE900 in stock and he didn't mention de free bulb( De free bulb thingy was mentioned sumwhere here in LY...) and cost was 5+k, De ax100 was a couple of hundred more ... so you tell me , worth it or not? Oh yes de epson tw700's list price is 6699/- and not 6k, if 6k list then we didint get such a good deal after all, eh Bro Jason??? 6.7k is reasonable as to compared to de AX100 which is in de same range - same panel oso made by epson... Optoma is a dlp(RBE/headache for sum ppl) and a previous genre Pj but is gettin 2nd wind cos of its price(in de US, anyway... like here, a lot of ppl there want a good deal...)Bear in mind small rooms might be a problem to set up unlike de ax100/tw700 Note also, small towns are a lot more difficult getting stock so you might take into consideration tat when you order unless like me you waited 2months to get one... When JAson mentioned a light controlled room... meaning you can have a pitch black room that when all the lights are switched off, you will be like a blindman. Now, when u pay RM5k and below and slightly more like RM6k for 480p and 720p... its something like getting a Proton Iswara and Proton Waja. Yeah... both also can take you to the destination but the feeling is different. And, Iswara is old technology... Waja is newer technology with Lotus design... kekeke... I am not using Honda or Merz coz the 720p is only up to Waja level only. Kekekeke |

U should go for a darker colour like burgundy, red, navy, brown, because i think white bounces the light from the screen to the room - very irritating i guess.
IN72's DC2 is by no means old, although DC3 is here, It can still produce neat blacks and more than acceptable contrast ratio, the only problem is it's light output, but that wouldn't be a problem since 1080p isn't meant for screens larger than 96", but if u have space and a light controlled room, I'd say 100" is fine. |

If I have a dedicated room, the whole room will be carpeted or use velvet as my acoustic wall... and all black or dark blue only... kekekeke QUOTE(psp _BOY @ Apr 11 2007, 08:50 PM) U should go for a darker colour like burgundy, red, navy, brown, because i think white bounces the light from the screen to the room - very irritating i guess. Well, you can't follow the technology that fast... but getting a 480p at slightly cheaper than those 720p is really not worth it. Might as well save some money and don't buy ham tai so much... in few much, you will get the money to buy and those 720 might be even cheaper by then... again... poor man pays twice.IN72's DC2 is by no means old, although DC3 is here, It can still produce neat blacks and more than acceptable contrast ratio, the only problem is it's light output, but that wouldn't be a problem since 1080p isn't meant for screens larger than 96", but if u have space and a light controlled room, I'd say 100" is fine. |

I do not envy newcomers to Home Theatre, the learning curve is steep indeed. There is so much information to be digested, decisions to be made... one word... tough.
Those of us 'veterans' have been through it, we have asked countless questions on various forums. Read opinions or different reviewers and users of the same equipment to get different points of views. Did feature, function and cost comparisons. I guess this is the school fees that one has shell out. Now we are trying to visualise projectors as cars... keeps things interesting. I think the TW700 and AX100 is like the Mazda Miata (since Japanese), a mid range sports car.... just good engineering and like psp_boy said, can perform like Ferrari. Cannot be Wajalah since not Made in Malaysia. Finally, about light controlled room. Not that the room must be dark, if you remember your last time at the theatre... it was not completely dark. They have some lights on while the movie is playing. By light controlled, I mean you are able to determine how much AND where the light shines. E.g. some wall lights with dimmer function that shine up and down is quite acceptable... this is to set the moodlah. But a table lamp, moon light or street lamp light shining on to the screen is a big no no. The light should not be between you and the screen as well. Since bro Tim started this, I thought it would be good to contribute what we watch on our projectors. Last weekend I watched Lady in the Water. Full of suspense, both photography and sound effects are really good. My heart jumped out of my chest more than once during the movie... plus I still have my wife's hand grip marks on my arm. |

Actually, how I wish there are more choices...
More options... But heck... this is because we have gone through all the hard work finding out... and end up with only 1 or 2 choices... No homework means too many choices... |

Too many choices - you still have to shortlist it down to one or 2 , but here in Mal, not many le , summore sum model : prices not competitive. Audition to choose , also not available ; if in smaller towns - if in capital Okle. So left wif reviews in de net (thank god for tat, if not for tat seriously lagi teruklo up to de dealer to kelentung you...) Anyway de models thrown about here is all well reviewed already, only sum customising up to your room and needs , prices also not very far apart... I guess wat u need to know is not to get de data Projectors(but there are ppl using and they find it ok too), de rest is up to you... Cheers Dirtrun |
