Isn't the notification letter basically the IPA?

I started work in May 2015 after the date you stated, did not get anything other than IPA, then straight to MOM office for EP application (during first week of work)

Edit: I remember now, its a letter you get when you set an appointment date with MOM for EP application
You get that pretty much on the same day that your company does that for you

Morning all taikos,

I would like to ask what is the chances for us Malaysian to work in Singapore nowadays? After all the levy and etc....

I am from banking sales background (mostly), thinking to go SG work as banking back office support/customer services/ or other possibility.

Anyone of you got any advise for me this newbie?

Btw, i have a quick look through on the first page it is very informative. Thanks TS.

If you dont mind doing sales, that should be easier to get
Banking/insurance sales are still highly in demand i believe

Dont mind to try, but not sure if i can handle difficult customers in SG.

Plus i feel turn over for bank sales staff is very high (based on my experience in MY)
*
It is high and challenging, which is why you will find openings easier
Less challenging jobs with low turnover, you wont find many of these available for foreigners

Singapore customers are very demanding one you know. You need to have thicker face and learn how to lick boots if you want to sell financial products. Many high net worth customers here.

That's for individual family to go figure out and make it work. Gomen shouldn't apply blanket rule over an arbitrary spending figure based on the lifestyle of a high rolling expat banker..

Also.. if epass holder can bring family in good for singapore economy.. more mouths to feed means more local spending and less money can be transferred overseas.
*
That is the Malaysian "freedom of choice" thinking
Not the way SG government thinks

Remember, those are rules for foreigners

Hi, when would be a good time (as in which month of the year) to apply for PR? Anything else I should take note of? I heard people saying that beginning of the year is the best as you will stand a higher chance. Is this true? Can someone enlighten me ?
*
It's an excellent time, since booking now will get you an appointment next year at the earliest biggrin.gif

Yes 1.2k is after deducting my target savings.

I'll be working at midview city so I need a room at bishan or amk then I can take bus also no problem.
My only issue is with room, I cant share because I sometimes sleep very late and have difficulty sleeping even with slightest noise or light.
Im wondering if its possible to get a non share common room for 500 ard that area.
*
Bishan is supposed to be a bit more expensive than AMK

AMK $500 can get you a room but without AC
Also make sure the room prices you see includes utilities and internet
There are many postings for rooms cheap, but after you add on those 2 it goes back up

No right or wrong answer just on how willing u are to spend...

I'm guessing you are single, no family or real dependents
Same as me too, which is why I dont have much into insurance
Will likely change once starting a family

Buy insurance when you perceived risk (like accident, poor health, loss of income, fire disaster, etc) is better to be borned by insurer. Don't buy just because you are young and premium is cheap (that's insurance agent gimmick).

Honestly speaking I actually hear many bad insurance buying decision than the good side of it. So do your due diligence

I have 2 insurance clients which I look into their processes. Their underwriters easily approve young applicants policy because statistically these group of people are less prone to problems. It's a good income for the insurers
*
Yes agree with you here, I don't feel I have a whole lot of things needed to insure currently
Buying now just so it will be cheaper doesn't work out in the long run

You are allowed to return to M'sia since you are M'sian. But to exit M'sia will be problem - if M'sia custom doesn't stop you, S'pore side will

Negative

I went from SG to Hong Kong, back to SG with my passport valid just below 6 months
The counter guy at airport checked with someone who said as long as my EP is valid its no problem (though the HK side he can't confirm, but it work out ok)

Software Developer. EP.

Also, I should not be expecting CPF right?
*
No CPF, only get that once you are PR
If you are happy with the offer and everything, just accept it, they will let you know the next steps
Unless you wanna ask for things like relocation allowance

QUOTE(LalaluSan @ Aug 10 2016, 03:06 PM)
Hi all.. Questions, from the application received from jobline, the pass stated was "Type of Pass: EP" , which is stands for "Employment Pass" right? And reading from the MOM page, EP holder "Candidates need to earn at least $3,300 a month and have acceptable qualifications." right? Or for some cases, it doesn't matter?
*
Yup those are the guidelines
If you already have the job offer you already know how much you earn, so ignore the guidelines as they may not apply to you

Pay is always a function of 2 things: What you are asking and what you are being offered

Not much point just talking about what you should be asking for
Just go for some interviews to have an idea of how much you are worth, then you can think realistically
