For my case, my notice period is only one days.
I was planning to leave the company after I get my salary.
But I not sure wat will happen if I did this way.
*
Why would you time it to be the day right after?
If you're getting your pay for 1 full month but have not earned it, you'll still have to pay back

Bcoz I just work for the company for less than 60 days so that I will exempt from the tax, IRAS categorized it as Short Term Employment. So the day where I earn my salary, which is 55 days that I work in my current company.
So if more than 60 days, I need to pay 15% of my salary for the tax.

So do you mean even if i got my salary, I need to pay back to my employer to clear the tax right?
*
Actually I wasnt thinking of the tax part
But your pay day is on the final day of the month?
Mine's on the 10th, meaning if i leave on the 11th with 1 day notice i'll have to pay back the remaining days of the month that I've already received

Yes...because i get the idea of him saying that SGD1.6k savings per month is not good enough...
SGD5 per meal x 3 a day x 30 days for a month...thats SGD450 for meals...hp another 50 bucks...
public transport 100-150 a month...thats SGD650....still got another 350....misc expenses 100-150 for 1 person per month is more than enough. So i'm saying that he/she could save up even more...to maybe even SGD1.8k++ per month
*
Who can tahan eating SGD5 meals every single day of the month man...
Even those guys who come as fresh grad need some entertainment

I did it back then with less than SGD4.....forget about a drink even....yes....so i'm saying depends on how much one would spend on entertainment...
i dont go clubbing nor drinking nor smoking...LOL

With a salary of between 2.5k-3k mind you
*
Respect for being able to do it rclxms.gif
But your earlier post mentioned 1k is on the high side, not that it can be lower
Of course there are those spending 500/month on expenses too I bet

I guess in hindsight if you managed to save up for all those its worth it!

QUOTE(internaldisputes @ Aug 25 2016, 08:21 PM)
hi guys. i'm getting frustrated at getting no favorable response after sending my resumes to so many companies for a post of architect assistant. i've been jobless for almost 7 months now after finishing my degree in january. working in singapore sounds intimidating but the idea seems more and more attractive by the day. i'm gonna read this thread and do my research and hopefully i won't have to become a disappointment to my family any longer soon.

i suppose the labour market is extremely saturated and competitive right now? i'm not picky and willing to work anything but i bet whatever i apply, thousands of people will apply too and it's a scary thought.  sweat.gif
*
No response for 7 months - does that include companies in Malaysia?

I find out that anything related to socialism is a taboo here. We can't simply talk about it. Issit true?
*
I'm curious, what kind of socialism topics did you try talking about?
You mean the form of political governance?

Political Governance, Socialism history in Singapore, Economy and whatsoever related...

One of the bro say to me about not talk about that topic. He scare I might end up disappearing without trace...
*
hahaha! that's an interesting reply!
I'm not sure, maybe its just the guy you spoke to in specific, probably need to speak to more scholarly kinda people for that topic
But there is history there leading to why he said that, I read the Memoirs of Lee Kuan Yew which explains a lot related to that
Also explains a lot about Malaysian history too

QUOTE(internaldisputes @ Aug 25 2016, 11:28 PM)
yeah, i heard that the construction industry is slowing so that must be it. i got an email reply last week asking if i'm willing to work for free.  sweat.gif
*
I see...well maybe try looking for other jobs not directly related to architecture
Having a jobless period is very bad for your resume

Phew, I'm sure the companies here would be so glad to find out you don't see a problem there rclxm9.gif

Okay now i understand. But once I gain exp, then they are willing to go through the hassle to employ me?

How good are you at what you do?
The answer to that will help answer if they are willing to employ you

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Aug 31 2016, 02:14 PM)
Nope. See below from MoM
Annual Wage Supplement (AWS)

The AWS is also called the “13th month payment”. It is a single annual payment on top of an employee’s total annual wage.

AWS is not compulsory. Payment depends on what is in your employment contract or collective agreement.

Your employer can negotiate a lower amount of AWS if business results are exceptionally poor for the year.
....

Its sort of a lever the employer can slash if performancee is crappy
Theres also MVC. I recall my.previous employer had this clause.

Might as well just call it performance bonus in that case...
Lucky i never encounter that situation yet haha

If you are not a permanent staff, your job is not highly secured.  I think that is what he meant.

My co also experienced hiring and increment freeze. So bad times are ahead
*
Looks like you guys have not experienced what I've seen in my company smile.gif
Retrenchment can be because of HC movement to cheaper countries, which means senior or junior also kena

Hi would want to know for experienced professional (Malaysian experience) to relocate to Singapore, how likely to get 1MYR to 1SGD for the offer there. Is it even possible to get "increment" by dollar to ringgit? (aside of the currency rate difference)

5 years audit and tax experience here and would like to join consulting firms in SG if it matters.
*
Possible, depending on how good you are

Haha I won't wanna be Internal Auditor though, I have many friends from Accounting course and lasted few years in IA left to other job scope/industry. Crazy working hours during peak, when I mean crazy means work until 4am to 6am, and back to office/client site again at 8am or 10am.
If International Assignee as IA then I wish too tongue.gif
*
Infernal Affairs like Tony Lau

But yeah, no one likes IA in the company either lol
