thanks for the tips. will try it later. hope it works on me.
before this, i only swim across the pool width by holding breath. i breathe 2-3 times only coz i can't breathe properly. never try to swim along the 50m (is it 50m) length, sure i'll stop in the middle. but if use breaststroke, i can go all the way.

Hmmm... I suggest the next immediate thing you learn is how to breathe. Coz if you don't, it makes the rest of it pretty moot. Unfortunately, efficient breathing is is pretty critical to efficient swimming. Unless you use a snorkle, I suppose... tongue.gif

used to not know how to breath for freestyle. after watching and learning, finally got the timing down. then improved on efficiency by watching efficient swimming tips (forgot exact title) on youtube. most important is to keep body flat and straight. have to use back muscles to "pull" ass up to reduce resistance. no wonder the pros got use special suits to keep body flat.

Hydrodynamics... Fact of physics, but the girls with big boobs in competitive swimming just couldn't keep up. A little sad on the kids when they hit puberty and are fortunate (or unfortunate depending on your point of view), to be endowed with plentiful mammaries.

No offence intended to anyone with this post. Just a fact of life.

Fast or slow depends on your speed, or how you want to swim. It usually also depends on your rhythm and balance. For example, eventhough Ian Thrope had an unusual rhythm, it definitely didn't mean it was efficient per se, coz it worked for him.

I can describe how I do it when I am cruising. This method is efficient in terms of energy saving per distance, but is not slow either. I've have taught this method to some people before. It seems simple, but it actually turns out to be not so easy for beginning swimmers because it requires rhythm and balance, but it is a good way to learn balance in the water.

For this method, I make one kick per stroke. Each stroke is a long and gliding stroke. Also, there is a lot of body roll each stroke. So it'll look like rolling left and right. Each stroke is fairly strong to provide the propulsion for the glide, so less strokes are used per distance. You should be able to maintain some speed which is necessary for this method. If you're too slow, it will not work. So in the end, there is enough rest between each stroke so you won't get tired for quite a while. I travel around 2-3 meters per stroke.

Lol this is for long distance. Not suitable for sprinting.
It's not really called a body roll is it? Because you rotate your shoulders.

If you read my post, I stated that I used it for cruising. Not sprinting.

It's a roll. Just like a plane or boat. I was talking about body roll, not shoulder rotation. The method I described has excessive roll due to the longer strokes.

Swimming alone generally isn't going to make above average boobs smaller. Oh well, ain't great for competitive swimming, but there shouldn't be any complaints there. It is a positive aspect of femininity, and for women, of course.

This situation affects other sports as well, like gymnastics...
