perhaps, Steve Jobs can clarify the processor speed used in the Iphone.
But, nevertheless, it is a great device and I am looking foward to have one.
*
Clarify how much Mhz it has doesn't prove anything as far as i'm concern.
Different chips has different performance. What if the software is very optimized?
Show me how fast it does stuff or do some intensive stuff, then we compare, ok?
QUOTE(cafuheva @ Jan 16 2007, 01:29 PM)
if the iphone nano, sure the screen size is too small and not practical. iphone shuffle?? hmm.gif
*
iPhone nano, seems plausible, but it won't be the best seller like iPhone.
OMG, iPhone shuffle, shuffle ur calls, u won't know who picks up the phone, discover new friends or suddenly called ur ex while she's dating with a new bf. Endless social possibilities.
QUOTE(crash @ Jan 16 2007, 01:58 PM)
I believe 'OS X' as Steve Jobs mentioned isn't the same as Mac OS X as used on Mac desktops and portables.
*
They mentioned OS X probably because it will run on Darwin, the UNIX variant underneath OS X. A stripped down Darwin with a custom interface is what i think. UNIX...*drools* Can hack become Linux.

Why would you wanna install Linux? Mac OS X is a far more matured OS in terms of usability and elegance. I do know of iPodLinux projects though.

correction... it only captures pics... no video recording... u can chk out more abt the iphones if u google up "pogue iphone faq"...

iphone dont support java, flash... the video's not true 16:9... u can fill the screen but at the expense of the left n right sides of the video...

i so wanted to get one when it comes out but now i'm havin second thoughts... i guess if apple didnt do an alliance wit cingular/AT&T, then we wud hv a phone tat's not locked and hv 3G, etc...

No java and flash?

Crap.

Then why call it full fledge? It's a pain in the ass trying to access full websites using my ipaq.

and btw,

' Does the camera record video? -Not yet. Apple may add this feature by June. '

Which means there is gonna be video recording capablity.

MacWelt.de - What Steve Jobs didn't tell about the iPhone
German online (and print) magazine MacWelt (www.macwelt.de) apparently talked to Apple Germany about the iPhone to get some information Steve Jobs didn't mention at the Keynote.

(1) Apple didn't give a definite answer whether the iPhone would run OS X 10.4 or 10.5, but they emphasized that it deploys a full version of it. However, see (3)...

(2) The complete OS will be stored on the flash memory, but it takes up far less than 500 MB. So while this draws away some storage from the 4/8GB memory, it's extremely easy to install software or firmware updates.

(3) Apple decides what programs will run on the iPhone, just like with the iPod games before, and Apple won't release any specs at the moment. This also applies to 3rd party widgets.

(4) No iTMS download at this time. Chances are that Apple and Cingular couldn't find an agreement on this topics. However, they don't rule out that this option might be added at a later point. (see (2) about software updates)

(5) No iTunes songs as ring tones.

(6) No VoIP support, as this would cut down Cingular's profits.

(7) Safari is said to include as many plugins as possible, but there is no fixed list yet. It does include Flash and Java, though.

(8) There have been no decisions yet about which provider will sell the iPhone in Germany - the Apple/Cingular contract only applies to the USA.

Thank you, hiiragizawa for the quote of MacWelt.de. I'm wondering whether it will support expandable memory card so we can swap it when the space is full.

I'm wondering when at the soonest they will market it to Malaysia and what will the price be? I read from somewhere that it will be quite steep in the U.S and priced around USD$1936 (including all sort of fees).

yea.. i'm sure alot of capabilities will be added... but i do wish tat apple dont hv their balls squeezed by Cingular's, i.e. no VOIP... and no external application developers...

the biggest surprise for me is how come can't use iTunes music as ringtones...

Have u read the 2 pages articles in the Stars yesterday on iPhone? go read it all ur answers are there. To summarise what I hv read:

1) The iPhone shown to media is just a work in progress phone (WIP)!
2) The video recording function has yet to be confirmed.
3) No mentioning of 3G at all..probably no...
4) No mentioning of GPS
5) The WIP portions of the phone include - calculator & calender! They are working hard to build these function in the phone (Last min job!)
6) iphone will be released in June for US market & Asia in 2008.

So from the spec...doesn't looks good to me... rclxub.gif

a very "smart" marketing plan ...

apple now got "six month" to make it right ...... now lots and lots of comment already in the air ( all over the world are giving ideal and feed back .... so apple has all the time in the world to do all the adjustment they need .....
where production is ON HOLD now ...

bloody good and effective marketing strategy .......
