i don't get that at all... kodi17.1, on both devices.

I checked the system setting>scan library at start up. I didn't check the box but it still do the scanning each time I start KODI.

i have a 1.5TB attached to quasar, no such issue.

I tried installed in KODI v16.1 & 17.1 both has the same problem.

At first I thought maybe it will scan the vid for the 1st time but NO it scan every time I start KODI.

i can only suggest u recheck the download and library paths.

Yes! I did set the download path.

or maybe should I set the download path to my 32gb SD card?


update: That't it. NO more scanning my ext drive vid on KODI startup. I set the download path to ext drive and library to SD card.


So I'll keep the Quasar for the time being.

Good you've sorted it out... While catching up on new posts, was going to suggest you do what has been done to solve it..


For others who may be experiencing issues using Quasar or other addons. Need to understand that, improperly setting up Kodi or its addons is simply a recipe for issues. Particularly when run on an incompatible firmware or device. There's a computer speak, "Garbage in = Garbage out".. Quasar, just like Kodi is an extremely simple yet complicated shell and requires the user to setup properly for best results.

Talk about devil. it started to scan the vid again. So now I set both download & Library to SD card.

But I do agreed with you. Proper setting is a MOST .

Acutally if you install Quasar properly. It will auto install Quasar burst but for new update. you can download here. https://burst.surge.sh/

Yes.. It's more of a guide and teaches/explains things most would not have understood or figured out on their own.. Hence, my leaving there on the first page.. It's been updated to suit Krypton or Jarvis.

The straightforward way for those capable is to simply download Quasar from the official website and install.. Latest repo will be installed and a prompt to install the Quasar burst addon pops up too.. If the latter fails/incomplete, the burst addon can also be downloaded from its official page.. Manually install and setup... With both, addons will auto-update.

not yet manage to play movie thru quasar....i feels like waiting for the buffer to complete is too long...

Watch the info box... u will know if it is working or not, working fast or slow.

Typically, popular and recent videos very good, old and not popular not so good, even dead.

But if your broadband is no good, it will be poor.

For 50mbps, the max speed i hv seen is 5.8MBps.

yeah... feels like i'm watching old unpopular video more... lol....

on unifi 30......i tried a latest episode on hawaii 5-0...only got 64kb/s rate..... so no go....

need to research more on tips/tweaking the quasar.....


else now i go straight to torrent to download vid i want.... (but most of the one i really looking to watch wasnt available even from actual torrent outide quasar/kodi)

64kbps cannot la... poor seeds, poor peers, not popular...

U need 300kbps or so for a decent video.

2MBps will do a big nice movie!

Looks like I'm not the only one felt Quasar is slow.

If u do unpopular videos with poor seeds n peers links, u will not like quasar.

The popular ones, u get a tv 1080p show to play within 20 secs and 100% done within 5 mins,.. can watch later at your own leisure.

The best thing about quasar is you can keep the big files if u wish.

If yr kodi cant delievr dd/dts/dtshdma direct, can do playabck with saved file with another player for great audio.

Which is what i do sometimes... those 15, 30gb ones.
