For the M600i alarm issue, i understand there's a checklist on which day you wanted the alarm to sound. What about when you selected Mon & Wed, save it and go back to main menu, THEN, go back to the alarm menu again, did you see Mon & Wed are being checked? It might be a problem with saving down you settings and I guess you need to go flash to the latest firmware.

One thing I want to complain about the M600i is I need to set all my sounds and alerts again after every changed of my themes...sigh...
*
there's a checklist for it. saved the days then checked again ady. it;s there. but the alarm still ring on other days. heard ppl complained about this before alrdy. should be firmware problem. i just dont have time to send it to SESC.

yup..the themes thingie is kinda annoying too.. sad.gif

The latest firmware for CDA /8 has not been released yet.

Most prob you flashed your phone back to generic version, if you dont need to read and write chinese you can just use it as it is, if not i think you can install the chinese reading software back at the service centre, dunno if you can install the chinese input tho.

But like i said, if you dont need chinese you can use your phone as it is.

I just bought a SE P990i recently. The phone is a little buggy and sluggish, it restarted twice when I tried to fast forward a video. I tried to update the phone's firmware but it stated that it has the latest firmware. The current firmware on my phone is as below:-

Phone:
CXC 162037 R7A001

Bluetooth:
CXC 162058 R4F01

Organizer:
CXC 162092 R2A05

CDA:
CDA 162007/8 R2A04

Any advise? icon_question.gif It's way more sluggish than my old P900i. rclxub.gif

You should have gotten yourself a Generic set instead of Asian simplified Chinese set. Generic has latest firmware which solves most of the problems that you mentioned.

Anyway, you can try Swiss Manager (link on the 1st page) and Twin Peaks (which disable the transition effect when opening the menu) to boost your performance. Mine works like charm now thanks to the above mentioned softwares.

I bought an AP set, I didn't know it's not the generic set, that's why. I don't use Chinese character set anyway. Anyway, to reflash it to the generic set? Yeah, I'll try the two softwares you have recommended, hopefully it will solve my problems. Honestly speaking, my K800i is even faster and it doesn't even hang or restart by itself. I kena a few times with my P990i today, the phone has restarted for better performance. doh.gif

It's worst than P900i and P910i, damn buggy ler, if it's not because of the Wi-Fi, I wouldn't have bought it, I think Nokia's N80 IE is much better but I like a touchscreen handphone with a virtual keyboard. doh.gif Duh ....... SE really made a terrible phone this time. Luckily, I didn't sell off my P900i. Phew ....... thank God. sweat.gif

think u gotta google for the TwinPeak app. might be some free ones out there but if it stated free trial..means u can only use it for free for a limited time period..gotta pay if u wanna continue using it after the specified time period.

yup..AP set can upgrade to latest firmware @ SESC but u gotta pay. not sure about the price tho.. smile.gif

Can bring to SESC to flash the latest firmware, ar? Like that good lah, I hate the freaking Chinese text input and worst of all, it is buggy. I wouldn't mind going with the generic version. I've tried the free Wi-Fi access near a Starbucks outlet, it was okay, quite smooth but sometimes the connection will be lost if I put the phone on the table but if I'm holding it, it's okay. Damn ...... is the Wi-Fi antenna just behind the phone?

Are there any local application stores that sell original UIQ 3 softwares for P990i. I prefer getting them locally but it seems like the Sony Ericsson Malaysia website has no support for it at all, not a single application or game available. doh.gif

Since there are many of you complaining about P990i's performance, I think i'll put up a FAQs.

1. Why is my P990i so buggy?
Depends on which version and what firmware is for your P990i. Asian Simplified Chinese set is slower as it's on old firmware. An update for it will soon be released later this month. Other versions of P990i (Generic, European, Taiwanese) have the latest firmware available and you can update via SEUS or SE center (only original can be updated for free).

2. I bought an AP set of P990i which is of Asian Simplified Chinese version. Can I flash it to Generic version?
Yes, you can, but you'll need to bring it to SE center and they will charge you RM70-RM100 for flashing.

3. Is there other options besides flashing?
Yes, you can sit and wait for the update and use performance boosting softwares like Swiss Manager (on the 1st page of this thread and Twin Peaks for the time being. Twin Peaks is a software that disables the transition effect of the UIQ menu, and it significantly speeds up the menu navigation.

By the way, i strongly disagree that UIQ3 is slower than UIQ2. UIQ3 is out about half a year only, therefore proper optimization hasn't been done. Give it some time and it'll improve. Remember how buggy it was when UIQ2 just launched?? rolleyes.gif

glad to hear you're poisoned by M600i. hope to add u soon in the owner list..haha tongue.gif

1. yes. unlimited saves. until u delete them.
2. yes, for english. totally reliable. but u muz make sure u learned the input method for each alphabets & digits. not sure about chinese as mine is english set.
3. mine is used set that comes only with transceiver, battery, charger & 1 stylus. i think full set should include headset. not sure. try ask @ SE authorised shops.
4. mine doesnt have any major problems. not laggy or slow. hardly hangs too. just alarm problem. keep going off when i didnt even activate it. mine is old firmware. think new one should be better.
5. im not really sure about that. maybe u can go LYP. lotsa phone shops there.

hope all these info helps. feel free to ask any questions if u still need extra info. smile.gif
