When announcing the official name of their upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie, Sony also unveiled a brand new logo for their Spider-Man movie franchise. The logo features an almost playful font, with the second "O" in "Homecoming" replaced by a stylized version of Spider-Man's mask.

Unlike previous Spider-Man movies starring Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield, Spider-Man: Homecoming is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland, Sony's newest Spider-Man actor, will make his first appearance as the webslinger in Captain America: Civil War next month. Marvel Studios and Sony have an unprecedented arrangement, in which both studios will collaborate on future Spider-Man movies in exchange for Spider-Man's continued involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Joining Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming is Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya in an undisclosed role.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7, 2017.

The thing you spent way too much time dreaming about is finally happening. No, not Spider-Man getting another movie reboot, despite the last film coming out just two years ago. But rather the details of that reboot, the most important detail being that Sony and Marvel have unbelievably teamed up to bring Spider-Man where he belongs; into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Titled Spider-Man: Homecoming, the latest Spider-Man reboot will follow the character’s introduction in this summer’s Captain America: Civil War. Directed by Jon Watts, written by Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley, and starring Tom Holland as the wall-crawler, Spider-Man: Homecoming is still over a year away but we already know a whole lot about the film that makes us way too excited for its July 7th, 2017 release date.

Let’s take a look at the facts we know already and what we’re most excited about with the 12 Things We Know So Far About Spider-Man: Homecoming.

12. IT’S A MARVEL MOVIE… DISTRIBUTED BY SONY

When it was announced that Marvel and Sony were miraculously sharing the rights to Spider-Man, no one knew many of the details. That’s because even Marvel and Sony didn’t know the details, plans and contracts were being worked out and are still being worked out to this day. But as the dust has settled we’ve learned some new information from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who has revealed that Spider-Man: Homecoming will very much be a Marvel Studios film.

Though Sony Pictures is producing alongside Marvel Studios, Feige has made it clear that Marvel is dealing with the creative side, as they hired Tom Holland, they’re orchestrating his introduction into the MCU, and they’re going to make sure that everything is on par with their past Marvel films. This isn’t some cheap rights-sharing plan to slap Marvel’s name on the same old product; this is Spider-Man’s homecoming to Marvel, and we hope it can live up to the hype we’re prematurely assigning to it.

11. “HOMECOMING” HINTS AT A 1984 COMIC BOOK STORYLINE

“Homecoming” is a great subtitle for a number of reasons. One, it’s a subtitle and not a number, which brings it firmly within Marvel’s movie naming conventions of subtitling every film to explain what’s going on (excepting the Iron Man franchise, of course). Two, it’s emotionally rewarding for fans who see the film as Spider-Man finally coming home to Marvel where he belongs. But mostly, “Homecoming” is a great subtitle because we get to speculate on what it could mean for the next year.

The title of The Amazing Spider-Man #252, Homecoming was the comic book world’s introduction to Spider-Man’s black costume. Set after Spider-Man returned to earth after the epic Secret Wars miniseries, this storyline could tell us a lot about the eventual storyline of Spider-Man: Homecoming. For instance, could Spider-Man be coming home after the potentially world-altering events of Civil War? Could the black suit make an appearance for the first time since Spider-Man 3, and be done right this time? For now, all we do know is that Marvel likes sprinkling clues in for fans to find, and some of those clues may lie in 1984’s The Amazing Spider-Man No. 252.

10. VULTURE IS (PROBABLY) THE VILLAIN

Sam Raimi’s villain of choice for the scrapped Spider-Man 4 may finally be coming to the big screen, and it will be exciting to see where they take it after so many villains have been used up in previous films. Though many villains never got their fair share of screen time across five often crowded Spider-Man films – we’re looking at you Venom, Rhino, Sandman, and Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin – a Spider-Man: Homecoming film that features Vulture could be an exciting new take on a Spider-Man villain.

Reported to be the sole villain in the film in an effort to maximize the impact, Vulture is often portrayed in the comics as an old man with a flying mechanical suit. And while we’ve seen the whole mech-suit thing done over and over in Marvel films, it would be interesting to see a teenaged Spider-Man face off against a villain that is so much older than him, perhaps three or four times his age. It’s also good to see the film attempt new things, rather than go the Superman route by pretending the only villains in his world are Lex Luthor and Zod.

9. IT WILL BE A COMING OF AGE STORY

Director Jon Watts and writers Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley have confirmed that their version of Spider-Man will be a coming of age story that focuses largely on a teenaged Peter Parker. Watts has gone on record saying “we’re really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He’s just 15 now.” So we know that Spider-Man: Homecoming won’t see an actor in his late 20s portray Peter in high-school just long enough to graduate by the second film; this time his high-school life will be as important as the villains he’s fighting.

More exciting than the coming of age revelation is Kevin Feige’s comments that the film will “be a ‘John Hughes’ movie.” And if that means heart and humor and a character that doesn’t fit into your traditional high school moulds, then that sounds like a pretty perfect take for Spider-Man.

8. EVERY MARVEL CHARACTER IS INVITED

Kevin Feige has said that there are no restrictions on which MCU characters can or can’t appear in the Spider-Man films; meaning Marvel’s deal with Sony is more extensive than originally thought. And since we now know that the new Spider-Man franchise will all essentially be Marvel films, we expect that a lot of our favorite heroes will be popping up now and then to trade some one-liners with Spider-Man and help him fight a battle or two.

Feige has said that Spider-Man “is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth.” And while that gets us excited for Spider-Man joining The Avengers in the future, in the near-term it means that Spider-Man can benefit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe connectivity that’s been built up over the years. So although the film is a reboot, we can expect to see established Marvel plotlines and characters come through and provide us with a level of depth and excitement that a standalone Spider-Man film could’ve never had before.

7. AUNT MAY ISN’T THE OLD LADY YOU THINK SHE IS

Academy Award winning actress Sally Field didn’t have to hide her opinions when she recently spoke of the two Amazing Spider-Man films that she was a part of. Having played Aunt May across from Andrew Garfield’s perfect portrayal of Peter Parker, Sally Field recently said that Aunt May was a poorly drawn character with nothing to do and that she found acting in the two Amazing Spider-Man films a bore; more or less. What she actually said was that “You can’t put ten pounds of s**t in a five-pound bag,” referring to how little acting was required to give life to the character as it was written.

Add to Field’s comments the fact that Sony was at one point developing a spinoff starring Aunt May, and you get the sense that they’re eager to change things a little bit and move Aunt May away from being a concerned mother figure and into an active human character. And that’s where Marisa Tomei comes in. The youngest actor to play Aunt May on screen yet, Tomei could bring a sense of humor and willingness to get involved that we’ve never seen from Aunt May before, thus setting her up to be a big part of the Spider-Man franchise going forward.

6. JONAH JAMESON WILL BE THERE, BUT NOT PLAYED BY WHO YOU HOPE

We all wanted J.K. Simmons back as Jameson so that he could “Judi Dench” the role and inhabit the personality of everyone’s favourite grumpy newsman forever. He was perfect in the role throughout Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy, and his work since (we’re looking at you Whiplash) has proven how much more he can elevate a role like Jameson. What’s more, Simmons has even gone on record saying that he’d love to play Jameson again in a film, and if that wasn’t enough, he’s currently voicing Jameson in Marvel’s own Ultimate Spider-Man animated TV series. So you’d think the stars would be aligned for Simmons’ return as J. Jonah Jameson, but you’d be wrong.

While it’s been reported that Marvel is eyeing other actors for the role – most notably Ice Cube – the biggest nail in the J.K. Simmons coffin was when he was cast as Commissioner Gordon in Justice League; thus setting him up to be an integral part of the competing DC Universe’s movie plans for the foreseeable future. And if you can’t imagine a world in which one of DC’s biggest stars crosses over to the MCU to yell for pictures of Spider-Man, you’re right, there isn’t a world where that’s possible. So the hope of J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson is dead; long live J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.

5. IT’S NOT AN ORIGIN STORY

We get it. Peter Parker is a nerd. His Uncle Ben dies. He learns to be a super-hero. He has a tough time. We’ve seen the story over and over again in comics and TV series and video games and movies. We don’t need to see it again, and thankfully Sony and Marvel know this. With Spider-Man: Homecoming, they’re sparing us the origin story.

Supposedly being introduced in Civil War as just another superhero who’s been swinging around New York for a while, Spider-Man will be fully established by the time he comes home in Homecoming. It’s an exciting proposition to swing into the Spider-Man universe without spending half the movie focusing on Peter in street clothes, as this way we can jump right into the action and get more bang for our buck. Sure, we want a well-rounded film that has richly drawn characters and a memorable plot, but what we don’t need is an hour of hand-holding to get us there. Thankfully with Spider-Man: Homecoming, we’ll get the Spider-Man we know without having to deal with the origin story we know even better.

4. A STARK INDUSTRIES SUIT WILL BE PRESENT

Judging from the Captain America: Civil War trailer, and the first real look we have at the new Spider-Man in motion, it’s clear that there’s some fancy tech working underneath the red and blue webbing of Spidey’s suit. One look at the eyes narrowing or the electric sound that accompanies the movement and you can tell; this is Stark Industries technology at its very finest.

Since we know that Spider-Man will be on team Iron-Man, we can assume that Civil War will be at least loosely following the comics and will show Stark’s relationship with Peter Parker as he takes him under his wing in exchange for siding with him. It’s then that Stark helps Peter with his Spider-Man costume and gives him a few necessary upgrades – after all, genius or not, Peter Parker doesn’t have the billions of dollars and the lab space to make something as kick-ass as he’ll no doubt have in the film. From there we can assume that Parker will bring his new suit home with him for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and in true Marvel fashion it will most likely be upgrades and tricked out quite a bit by then.

3. SONY HAS (HOPEFULLY) LEARNED FROM ITS MISTAKES

After the box-office and critical disappointment that was The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony seemed at a loss with what to do with its flagship franchise. Though they had announced prior to the film a plan to churn out one new Spider-Man film a year, spinoffs and shared universes were axed following TASM 2. With the lowest gross of any of the five Spider-Man films, audiences just weren’t embracing the wall-crawler the way Sony wanted them to, and then the unthinkable happened; Marvel stepped in to take over.

Though Sony is still very much involved with Spider-Man: Homecoming, it’s safe to say that they’ve learned their mistakes and they’ll keep their meddling to a minimum; after all, it didn’t work at all with the last two Spider-Man films. While most people know the story of how Sony cut up each entry in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise at the last minute in order to tie in their planned Spider-Man cinematic universe, Marvel has a much better track record with these things, and we can’t see Sony getting burned by the same mistakes for a third time.

2. MICHAEL KEATON IS IN TALKS TO STAR AS THE VILLAIN

Remember how Birdman brilliantly cast Michael Keaton as the washed up star of a superhero franchise and criticized the entire superhero film industry? Do you recall Michael Keaton as DC’s infamous Caped Crusader in 1989’s Batman? Well, Michael Keaton and Marvel may soon be hoping you forget all that, because Keaton is in talks for a main role in Homecoming, and this time he’s crossing over to the dark side to play the villain.

Currently in talks to star opposite Tom Holland as what may be the Vulture, Keaton is an exciting addition to Spider-Man: Homecoming and will give the film that Marvel flair of having an Oscar-nominated/winning actor in a main villain role. Following in the footsteps of Jeff Bridges, Mickey Rourke, Ben Kingsley, Josh Brolin, and Robert Redford, Keaton’s involvement in Homecoming should give it a memorable performance that could land on one side of magnetically dark (Birdman) or campy and fun (Beetlejuice). Either way, we’re game.

1. JUDGING FROM THE TITLE ART, IT WILL BE PLAYFUL

Forget the schizophrenic darkness and earnest sweetness of the Amazing Spider-Man franchise, and ignore the meme-tastic awkwardness of dancing emo Peter Parker in Spider-Man 3, because Spider-Man: Homecoming looks to be a playful and bright Marvel movie with a distinctly entertaining vibe. Take one look at the movie logo and you see a brightly-colored comic book-inspired title, one that screams “Look at me, I’m a different movie than the other five!”

Judging by the credentials of those behind the camera and the information they’ve given about the production so far, the title art just backs up what we already know about Spider-Man: Homecoming; it’s going to be different. Finally at home in the Marvel Universe, Homecoming can now take on the Marvel trademark of being light and quippy while still packing a punch and being a hell of a time at the movies. It doesn’t have to worry about the trend of dark and gritty reboots and it can go back to what made Spider-Man the most popular superhero in the world in the first place; humor and fun.

Check Out The Cast Of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'!

This has certainly been a big week for Spider-Man fans! First Marvel released the title of the first MCU Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Homecoming. Since then, we're learning ever-more about the casting decisions.

Marisa Tomei

Marisa Tomei will play Aunt May in 'Homecoming'
To everybody's surprise, Marisa Tomei has been cast for the part of Aunt May. At age 50, she's the youngest actress ever to take on the role, and there's been some fan backlash at such an attractive woman for this typically elderly role. To be fair to Marvel, they're no doubt planning to keep the Spider-Man franchise going for a long, long time, so were unlikely to cast the likes of Rosemary Harris (74 when she took on the role in the Sam Raimi trilogy).

Zendaya

Apparently Zendaya will be playing a mystery girl by the name of "Michelle." That's unlikely to be Peter Parker's roommate-come-girlfriend, so who knows what's planned.

Michael Keaton

Three days ago, Variety broke the news that Michael Keaton is being eyed to play a villain in the film. Kevin Feige has already told us we're going to see a Spider-Man foe who's never been on the big screen before, and the smart money is on the Vulture.

Toni Revolori

According to Deadline, Tony Revolori — best known for starring in Dope — has been cast for an unknown role. The Wrap has followed this up with a description that he's a character named Manuel, and he's "part of Peter Parker's high school crowd, but isn't a villain."

Laura Harrier

The Wrap has also broken an exclusive that Laura Harrier — of One Life to Live — will also join the show, but we haven't got any news on the role she'll be playing.

Most probably they want to prolong the Spider-Man franchise. Hence a younger version of Spider-Man and aunt may.

We're Working Very Much Together: Kevin Feige Confirms Marvel Has Creative Control Over 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

The title of the upcoming Spider-Man solo movie couldn't be more apt. After years of being cast aside by the MCU, left to fend for himself within the constraints of Sony's ownership, Peter Parker is finally swinging his way back to where he belongs.

And the news just keeps getting better and better. Spidey's inclusion within the MCU is without a doubt the biggest benefit of Sony and Marvel striking an agreement on the use of the character. And now, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed the studio will have creative control over Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Marvel Is The Creative Producer!

This is fantastic news for any Marvel fan; the MCU is undoubtedly the exemplar of how to do superhero movies, with a consistent track record of box office and critical success. The prospect of Spider-Man being moulded in this framework is exciting. In an interview with Collider, Feige explained how the new deal works:

“We’re working very much [together]. It is a— I don’t know exactly what the credits will be, but it is a Sony Pictures production of a Marvel Studios film. The agreement was that it is very much a Sony Pictures movie. Amy Pascal is co-producing it with us and [Sony chairman] Tom Rothman is leading the charge for Sony and that we are the creative producers. We are the ones hiring the actor, introducing him in this film, and then working right now on the script and soon to be shooting the actual Spidey film.”

Feige, who was appointed president of production of Marvel Studios in 2007, is the godfather of the MCU, having been heavily involved from the beginning. During his tenure, the combined box office gross for the films he has produced came to an eye-watering $9.08 billion.

Recently he also confirmed that a solo Spidey venture would include cameos from other characters within the MCU, in what has been an endless stream of positive news to offset any initial cynicism of another interpretation of the Web Slinger, following Sam Raimi's trilogy and the 2012 reboot The Amazing Spider-Man.

'We're Much More Focused On His Future'

Tom Holland has the responsibility of playing the much-loved superhero, with his first outing in the fast approaching Captain America: Civil War, fighting on the side of Tony Stark. Feige also added that the origin story wouldn't have to be revisited in full (again), although some important factors wouldn't be overlooked. He added:

“There are events that made Peter who he was, and we’ll certainly allude to those events, but we’re much more focused on his future and how he continues to grow and have a steep learning curve after, certainly, the adventure he had in Civil War on how to be his own hero.”

Typical Malaysian. Did they read the previous post or not? Because most Malaysian I know, upon seeing thread of thread of words will simply skim past 'em. As also seen in this thread, posting nonsense after only reading a few words because too lazy to finish 'em up.

Its already mentioned that this will not be an origin story..so, NO, Uncle Ben will not died again. As for Andrew Garfield, as charms as I think he is, he's way too old now to play Peter Parker.

Well, that's typical of most comic fans I see (not just Malaysian) esp even those on fb.

But that's a typical reaction because possibly one camp might rehash a plot point even though it was as many that was made up to be.

"Homecoming" I haven't followed the marvel story from the comics, but I did remember after the Spider-Man to avengers crossover, he somehow got the black suit (was some alien suit angle but only after a big Hu-ha about ditching the traditional spidey suit). Many fans then said they hated the black spidey suit. (I kinda like it)

I was coming of age where I started college n was too busy to catch up with the comics scene. But a little filtered to me from friends.

Andrew Garfield was good for me as how I remembered Peter Parker & as a wise cracker spidey. Sony did mess up the 2nd one. Too many villians as if some big wig must have pressured for it. Between tobey and garfield, I'm on the latter side. And I always loved Gwen Stacy, even in the comics. In the comics, Peter truly did love Stacy more and her death was as impactful and it did divided him as an individual.

Robert Downey Jr. Will Be In Spider-Man Homecoming

It’s long been rumored, but now it’s actually happening: Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as the Iron Avenger Tony Stark in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter Parker’s feature-length entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The news, from Hollywood Reporter, comes from a separate deal the actor has negotiated with Marvel and Sony beyond his current standalone deals to play Iron Man in both parts of Avengers: Infinity War. The news is not entirely surprising. Just last week Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige confirmed that other Marvel movie characters would be appearing in Homecoming, but Tony Stark specifically has been rumored to be involved in the movie for over a year at this point—which makes sense, as he is heavily involved in introducing the character into the Marvel world in Civil War.

I thought he coming out just for 1 fight scene and like 10 min talking.
*

Lol that could explain why people are saying he's the best spidey ever cause people only judge from that 10 minute scene instead of 2, 3 sequel worth of movie.

Surprised they didn't put the ending in the trailer and give away the whole film's plot

Doubt there will be any more surprises in the film, unless someone important dies (unlikely, not talking about uncle ben) or birdman is peter's father

Tom Hardy is 'Venom'

http://screenrant.com/venom-movie-2018-edd...ctor-tom-hardy/

user posted image

QUOTE
Sony had already surprised everyone once with the simple fact they’re moving a Venom standalone film into production with a Fall 2018 release date, but now they’ve one-upped themselves by casting Tom Hardy. Yes, Tom Hardy, man of a million, equally incomprehensible voices and all round class act will be playing Eddie Brock in Rueben Fleischer’s film based on the corrupted Spider-Man villain.

An announcement was obviously going to happen soon if Sony were actually going to follow through on their promise of an 18-month production, but nobody expected Hardy to be headlining. There’d been no rumors or even speculation on this. Now the initial shock has subsided, though, there’s really only one conclusion: they couldn’t have snatched up a better star.

Specifically for this project, Hardy has experience in the blockbuster and superhero arena. Obviously, he played villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises and was for a time attached to Suicide Squad before scheduling conflicts with The Revenant forced him to drop out, and through his repeated collaboration with Christopher Nolan (besides Rises he’s been in Inception and the upcoming Dunkirk) has manage to notch up several tentpole releases despite a more artistic angling. This is rather rudimentary, but beyond evident acting prowess and an understanding of how to play to fans, it means he’ll be well-equipped to deal with what is going to be a breakneck production.

Should be interesting... considering how Spider-Man 3 botched 'Venom'. This character in my opinion is slightly difficult (alien origin/not entirely evil) to adapt on-screen.

Definitely PG. U is for something like Doreamon or Teletubbies.
Great that this will be playing in IMAX 2D instead of 3D. TGV is already selling for some of their cinemas.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Early Reactions – A Fun Wall-Crawling Adventure

By Cooper Hood

Tom Holland Says Audiences Will Fall in Love with His Spider-Man

Sony has lifted the social media embargo on Spider-Man: Homecoming and it seems critics have taken a liking to the wall-crawler’s latest adventure. After two franchises centered around Marvel’s popular character, Sony and Marvel Studios struck a deal to bring him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Audiences have already experienced Tom Holland’s portrayal in Captain America: Civil War, which reinvigorated interest in another standalone Spider-Man film.

Ever since it started production, one of the biggest questions surrounding the film was how the Sony/Marvel partnership would play out. Marvel Studios has built up a strong reputation, while fans have seen Sony mishandle the character in the past — leaving some to wonder: Which studio would win out? Based on the early reactions, it appears the studios have a success on their hands.

Following another set of screenings for members of the press, the social media embargo has been lifted on Spider-Man: Homecoming. The reactions so far are mostly positive with claims of spectacle and surprises in store for movie goers, though there is at least one claim of the film being a little thin in the drama department.

Based on these reactions, expectations will be high moving forward for Homecoming. It should come as no surprise that Holland’s performance is being praised considering the reaction to his debut, and it should be of comfort to fans that he can carry the lead role in a major superhero film. Considering the praise many of the Marvel films have received, reading that some are holding Homecoming up with other entries in the MCU bodes well for the wall-crawler’s future.

It’s also good to see that the film still contains surprises, as concerns that the marketing for the movie has been too aggressive have grown over the past few months, and that the various previews and TV spots have essentially spoiled all of the big set pieces. Though there still seems to be some debate about potential overuse of Tony Stark is in the movie, it sounds as though fans of the Iron Man character and of Robert Downey Jr. will find his inclusion here to be to their liking.

Overall, the reaction to the film appears to be staying positive, which may help Spider-Man swing into a massive opening weekend at the box office when Homecoming finally hits theaters.

I've got this theory that Spider-Man will get his black suit in Infinity War (in contrast of comic which is Secret Wars).

And then it continues in the Venom movie. 😬

Anyway, Peter Parker have already make a cameos in Ironman 2..

just finished watching CA:CW again, really love this version of Spidey more

glad it's back as part of MCU, seems the production value is top notch, even with the tons of spoilers in the trailer, and the critics love it thumbup.gif

Guys.

Whoever watch its premier tonight, do give unspoiled comments, review and rating here ya?

Many positive comments from magazine and critic saying that its the best Spiderman ever compared to Tobey and Andrew version. I hope the review is true.

Spiderman 2 is still the best spiderman movie. Homecoming is the 2nd best in my opinion (well, i mean, the amazing spiderman series and spiderman 3 are trash lol). Solid 8/10 from me. wont spoil much since you're gonna watch it anyway tongue.gif

Watched it last nite at Paradigm mall.

My unprofessional critic's review.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Overall is a good Spiderman movie which can beat Spiderman, Spiderman 3 and Amazing Spiderman franchise, but still cannot beat the Spiderman 2 success. Spiderman 2 is like an old P.Ramlee's movie where you wont get bored watching it many times, but this Spiderman Homecoming is same as other Spiderman's movie where watching it once is just enuff to kill your boredom.

I gave it 8 out of 10.

BTW I watch it on normal 2D format. Waiting for the review for the 3D format.

Watched it today at Paradigm Mall also, and dayumm the screen was crisp and sound was awesome! This is why i love GSC Paradigm, the best cinema hall for me thus far.

Well, to my review, Spider-Man: Homecoming gets a solid 5/5 from me! It's really Awesometacular and here's why:

Can't wait for Thor! Hope it will be as awesome as this movie or perhaps even better! I am a DC fanboy, I hate to say this, I think DC will bungkus after their Justice League this year if it can't even beat this Spider-Man awesomeness. thumbup.gif

thats a tall order. I still think Justice League will make huge money. regardless of what the critics say (+-). May even surpass this years starling "Wonder Women"

But while the positive RT on Spiderman Homecoming. It will be big but may yet not score that huge over spiderman2. i dunno. I know the feedback from friends too has been great about Homecoming.

Sorry I've only been to NU Sentral for like 2 times. It wasn't my favorite mall since it is a little bit busy as compared to Paradigm, its like a dead mall. biggrin.gif But u can't go wrong with the GSC, u know how certain cinema where there is only a few number of hall that's good while others are so-so? It's not the case for GSC Paradigm, they take good care of all the halls, they are equally awesome as compared to others usually must have Atmos/THX/Dolby only then it's awesome. thumbup.gif

To be honest, I'm not a fan of Wonder Woman. It was just slightly above average for me, I hate Ares he ruined the movie for me. Again with DC, I don't care whether they're making great money or not, but they just doesn't have the special vibe like Marvel movies has. When u're watching this Spider-Man, u get all that creepy good awesomeness vibe that a good Marvel movies always has. It was perfectly done and I even say fu*k you Marvel for being this awesome. sweat.gif

I am still hoping for the best, but DC doesn't give me that awesomeness vibe, let's just hope Justice League will do Justice! No pun intended. Afterall, it's Marvel leftover team that's gonna cleanup Zack Snyder mess. thumbup.gif

A nice piece of jigsaw puzzle locked into Avengers, Avengers 2 .. Civil War..

Keaton's role is nice and nicely developed... I ♥️ Karen and she should be the love of Peter's life.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Sony is now laughing

You know why it is laugh?

It is laughing ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK! This movie is going to make them SO MUCH MONEY!!!!

I never took to Andrew Garfield's Spider-man

Something about his portrayal rubs me the wrong way.

Tom Holland is going to be SO famous

There would be a downside

Remember Tobey Maguire? Exactly.

Well written

Greatly integrated with the Marvel Universe

Casting is first rate (Batman is now... THE Vulture!!?!)

There was a O.M.G. moment at the beginning of the third arch which i literally O.M.G.ed aloud in the cinema!!! tongue.gif Pardonne-moi

Go Watch this

I don't believe I am going to say this... Best Spidey Movie, ever!!!!

My Two Sen

I don't remember much from Tobey's Spiderman but this is definitely better than Andrew's Spiderman. I thought the climax with the plane was a bit messy though. It was too dark and everything was happening so fast its hard to see whats going on.
One thing I really like is the villain. Finally someone who we can actually sympathize and relate to. Just a normal guy who is forced to do illegal stuff to feed his family because his actual job was taken away from him. He even does it safely so there's minimal damage until pushed to the limit. Michael Keaton has now played a bad ass hero (Batman) and villain from DC and Marvel and both are hits.
I thought Zendaya's character was pretty hot even though she was just there doing nothing.

Even though its normal for scenes from trailers to not make it in the actual movie, its still kinda sad that certain cool/important parts never made it to the final cut.

Heck, don't expect in this movie, most of the time got cgi Spiderman swinging from buildings to buildings like previous Spiderman movies. At least I can imagine what will Spiderman movie be if suddenly Sony/Marvel planned to make live action of Spiderman India where the background is just Mumbai city with just a shop buildings and less taller skyscrapers.

It's better than I expected. Now I can't even say whether Sam Raimi's adaptation is still the best Spider-Man films (definitely not the third one, of course). Sorry, Andrew Garfield, you'll be forgotten as Spidey.

Nope, it's the worst, I used to go there back then when in college time, I love the THX hall there, but then I find out GSC Paradigm, it's much more superior. Last I go to Mid Valley GSC to catch Batman V Superman (because i go to baby fair the same day the movie premier so saja try watch there), they've done major renovation on the outside, but cinema itself, no difference at all. Still the same like it used to be back then in 2012. Not to mention it's the coldest and the smelliest cinema. lol. My rating for GSC cinema:

Paradigm (Same quality control for almost every cinema hall they have) > Pavillion (Comfortable seats) > One Utama (THX/Atmos/Hall 9) > Setia City Mall (Atmos Hall) > Mid Valley (THX)

My 2 cents. nod.gif

Very different context. We probably shouldn't even compare Raimi's and Homecoming.

Best spider movie ever, side by side with Raimi's first one. I still can decide which is better, but I think if need to choose, I'll choose this one.

Most are afraid that the trailer spoilt too much of the story already, but I can tell you it didn't, it only scratch on the surface of this superhero gem wink.gif

Tonnes of reference and Easter eggs in this movie, there's even on taking a pot shot at DC's Batman laugh.gif

Anyway, it's the best decision by Sony to bring back Spider-Man back to MCU, they'll be the one that's laughing to the bank.

Fox? I think the bosses will be having an emergency meeting now whether to do the same like Sony. laugh.gif

Just imagine, Deadpool vs Spidey? That will be golden!

"Penis" was censored from Flash's Penis Parker taunt. And its not even a bad word.

Anyway I really dig the last 5 seconds of the movie. That was unexpected. Its like Tony telling the whole world he's Iron Man from the first Iron Man movie.

Nope....I would rather Fox keep doing their own thing and not to have the same menu as MCU offering. Why Fox wanted to share profit with Disney??? I think the r-rated CBM should be their USP and step up to do more Logan-esque type of movies.

All their mutant movies are making bank unlike Sony was in financial problem when they made the MCU deal.

Fox more willing to take chances on established film directors while MCU just wanted directors for hire they got cheaply from up and coming pool of indie directors.

Watched it today.

Absolutely loved it.

I was thinking... why do we need another reboot (minus the obvious MCU reason).

Everything was so well thought out in this one.

Where to begin...

No spoilers.

Let's start with the story.

It basically starts from the point at which Peter Parker 'gets the job' from Tony Stark. Stylized with a handheld camera point of view and leads straight to that "Underooos..." scene from Civil War. laugh.gif

NYC... the 'alien invasion' put to good use. All those 'alien tech'. Smart.

Then we wait...

And wait...

...for his next mission.

And that's where it all happens.

Some superb acting chops by Tom Holland as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man no thanks to the on-off presence of RDJ as Tony Stark. Michael Keaton adds that too. Aunt May wub.gif

There's quite a few of my favorite moments in the film, the love-hate between Peter and Tony Stark, Peter struggling with his dual life, great stuff...

Vulture is not some 'plain old bad guy'. He believes he has a point in doing something good. Not your typical "take-over-the-world" villain.

Just when you thought the story is going to go just the way you thought, they add that 'family ties' element to it. Just like Spider-Man 1 from 2002 (Norman Osborn). It's hard to believe it has been 15 years since the first Spider-Man film.

The visual effects were great.

That final few seconds of the film... thumbsup.gif

The mid-credits scene was fine. The post-credits scene was epic troll rclxms.gif

They JUST KEEP TEASING! That suit at the end... "MJ" hahaha....

9/10

I did feel the Vulture scenes could have been trimmed/seem prolonged. And the cinema I watched it at (MBO Kepong), was quite dim in the night scenes.

On a whole it's not as irritating as the usual crop of MCU movies that use to put out. The one liners or jokes a little more bearable than the usual winking at camera like a cheap tv sitcom. Then it does a lot of those cheap gags like Aunt May and Happy bumbling his way around. Action wise nothing out of the ordinary just felt it simply does not have that iconic scene or mindblown moment. For me the train stopping in Spiderman 2 still the best or maybe I've seen the new PS4 game trailer that did a better job showing the newer things that can be done with spidey.
Lose interest during the final fight with vulture cause there's no difference from any of the aerial fights you've seen many times with Green Goblin before. Surprisingly the villain turns out a little better than the usual but still far behind Doc Ock from Raimi.Tom Holland pretty much the best spidey to date only that I want the classic villain that put him into paces like Kraven.
Think Sam Raimi 2nd Spidey still speaks volume to me because it just that classic villain wrecking havoc on Spidey while this one only so-so. Not brutal enough...then again this is still Marvel we talking about. Just don't get it why they keep holding back on villain portrayal.

Tom Holland is definitely my favorite spidey to date. He fits the spiderman personality perfectly and also, he is such a cutie.

But the movie is a soso for me, I dislike that the action scene happened pretty quickly, but it was bearable.

+ There's surprises
+ Tom Holland
+ Interesting villian

- Less action scene
- Spidey with no spidersense

Those haven't watched but worrying Tony Stark/Ironman might stole the limelight from Spidey?
No worries, his presence is minimal, added just for the relation to whole MCU, not much of a distraction
talking about distraction, the hotgucci mama MILF aunt May is the only distraction you guys need to look out for laugh.gif

*
fox will keep their mutant franchise, for now
they can't film most of their movies in r-rated
but when times come, but money speak volume, we'll never know if they'll be a cross-over in the future
I think every fans is eagerly waiting for the X-men vs Avenger to happen tongue.gif

anyway, since they already screw-up F4 beyond saving, instead of trying for another 3rd reboot, and loose tonnes of monies again, they should just cooperate with Disney/Marvel

Think you should look at past articles of bad blood feud of Marvel's Perlmutter with Fox studio. It simply not gonna happen anytime soon.
Just because McD successful and popular at making hamburger simply does not mean I don't get to try out the ramli burger stall outside 7-11 or a fancy TGIF burger. Fox just does not need Disney's assistance cause they are not in any bad shape. You can't just pin the failure of FF as a benchmark the studio is bad at managing CBM franchises. Mind you James Cameron, Matthew Vaughn, Ridley Scott and more are the mainstay at Fox. They are also good at making other great movies and Apes about to show soon and follow by Kingsman. So they are simply not as clueless as you think they are.
Again the fanboys and geeks does not make up large chunk of the box office. It's the marketing hype and casual movie goers that gonna fuel the ticket sales.

If you're a comic fan, you must disassociate the comic from the movie and watch it as a stand-alone movie, with nothing related to the comics. Take the movie's iteration of Spidey as a completely different Spidey.

I found it to be just ok only. So far, none of the Spidey movies tick all the boxes for me.

Deadpool in MCU is a no-no since MCU is under Marvel and Disney. Deadpool movie got a lot of F, S and cursing words and without it, is not a Deadpool movie. But Fantastic Four on the other hand, might possible to be included in Marvel.

But I still surprise that everyone here keep complaining about Spiderman Homecoming got no spider sense slow mo scene like Sam Raimi's Spiderman and TASM franchise, but no one complaining about too less scene Spiderman swinging from building to building in Homecoming. That scene where Spiderman run at the grass field is an epic LOL, even whole audience in the cinema laugh hell laugh.gif

I think that's the good thing since from this Homecoming movie, we now knew what would Spiderman do if there are no tall buildings around him to swing (yes, I am referring to the van chasing at houses area, scene at highway where Spidey had to jump from car to car guided by Karen and the only tall structure he climbed in this movie is just Washington Monument). But its still a fun movie.

BTW Marvel tried to follow Fox's Deadpool style by showing parody and homeage from previous Spidey movies laugh.gif

This is what I found so far

The high school setup is a homage to John Hughes, the 80s teen movies king. Deadpool end credit is a rip off of Ferris Bueller end credit. Detention scene a nod to The Breakfast Club.
Female Jarvis voice belongs to Jennifer Connely the 80s teen idol who also happens to be the actual wife of Jarvis Paul Bethany aka Vision. Pretty meta.
Ramones - Blitzkreig Bop another throwback to the 80s era punk scene although the single was released in the 70s. Sex Pistols define 70s punk while Ramones owned the 80s.

Thank you Captain America for rewarding us for being patient.

On a different note, I think asking anymore from 'Homecoming' is a too much.

The film had everything you could ever have asked for in a Spidey film.

The 'unlocked mode' sequences were an absolute blast.

Love the idea of the re-imagining of MJ and certain key elements of Spider-Man.

Marvel teasing the crap out of us again at the end.... with that suit and Aunt May laugh.gif

TBH, this is MCU after all with C as the abbreviation for "Cinematics". With MCU nearing a decade old, I think fans should be aware by now that there WILL be a lot of divergence from these heroes' comic origin.

While I don't tout this as the perfect Spider-Man movie, I think it is definitely better than going the old Uncle-Ben-got-shot-because-of-me path & along with that, some changes here & there which is definitely a welcome change, at least to me.

The director did explained why no spider-sense, which on certain view, make sense to me.

QUOTE
Director Jon Watts has confirmed that the Peter Parker of Spider-Man: Homecoming will not have Spider-Sense. Watts wanted to avoid using Spider-Man’s early warning system because he felt that Sony’s past Spider-Man movies leaned on the power quite heavily.

“I feel like we have seen a lot of Spider-Sense in the previous films, so we didn't really lean into that as hard as they have in the previous films,” Watts tells CinemaBlend, adding “But I do think it is a really interesting thing to explore.”

I know it's the cinematic universe, but to diverge his background a lot from the comics just doesn't do it for me. I'm just biased towards Spidey like this. There could be mentions of uncle Ben, his advice or such, exposition would be enough I guess.

I think after the audience seen how Peter Parker got bitten twice, and Uncle Ben died twice, and lectured the phrase "Great power comes with great responsibility" twice, don't think we wanna see the same old origin again for the third time tongue.gif

So instead of Uncle Ben teaching PP about responsibility, it's Tony this time round

My 2 cents.  nod.gif
*
Am surprised, not sure how Mv did before renovation as i didn't visit much back then. Most of the time i would go Paradigm because i don't have to drive more than 3minute to reach.

The hall is fine itself, somehow i don't find the sound system better than MV's (My eardrum must had been damaged).

Exactly! (& the main reason why "*Amazing spiderman" got critics & fans punching the movie).

I know why sony did that but it was too soon, too close as many still had memories of sam raimi/tobey maguire collaboration. The reasons too superman returns (Byran/Brandon Routh) got panned like hell.

Marvel studios knows this, well the learn of it & they turned things a little. Its is the reason why they too bug many comic fans when some elements don't follow too closely by the book.

Look, aunt may (still hot marisa tomei), they threw out the really old one that fans had in mind. Even the next movie, they know fans will know be wondering

I don't really like the sound system because it was not properly tuned. They simply blast everything to the max till sometimes can hear crackle sound and bass popping. Same goes to Garden's Signature GSC, it was awesome at the beginning, but then the sound system beginning to crackle and popping like nobody business since it was not properly tuned and maintained. The thing I like about Paradigm is it's properly tuned. nod.gif

Same goes to Garden's Signature GSC, it was awesome at the beginning, but then the sound system beginning to crackle and popping like nobody business since it was not properly tuned and maintained. The thing I like about Paradigm is it's properly tuned. nod.gif

This is really going off-topic, but hey, Spider-Man: Homecoming is AMAZING, WOHOO! lol. laugh.gif

MyTown Maxx Hall.

JBL Pro 4732 for the mains LCR
JBL Pro 9310 for surrounds
JBL Pro 9300 for heights
Quad subs by JBL Pro (forgot the model)

Too bad the projector isn't by Barco....

It's currently the best hall in KL right now and it adheres to the 80hz crossover with peaks of 110db eventhough it isn't a certified THX hall. Saw Homecoming last week in this hall at the "best seats", passed my standards.

Ya my bro did mentioned bout this hall. He said the couple seat there is the best. I haven't tried it yet. Will probably try it for Planet of the Apes if got time, else will just have to wait for Justice League. brows.gif btw bro, is the screen bigger than IMAX sunway pyramid?

It's smaller than the IMAX screen at Sunway. Not sure of the actual dimensions.

The best seats are actually the D, E, F rows in the middle. This is where the room modes are at its absolute minimal. The D row is regarded the best that's why the D-box seats go there.

Should definitely go check it out, WftPotA has some sumptuous bass going down to 16hz in quite a few scenes.

Now the hall is still new, the real test is 1 year later. Wonder whether they will change out the bulb on the projector or be cheapskates by just dimming everything like they do with most of their so called "THX halls" (NU sentral and Pavilion for example).

-Above average at best. Another overhyped film. Spidey listen and take orders from *cough*cough* Tony Stark. Yuck... Spidey interaction with AI suit is annoying enough. Movie Still watchable but not quite likeable. Oh ya f___ Cap. Amerika for end credits troll that wasted my 5mins that's not even funny.

The movie doesn't offer outstanding quality of story or fights but it is a different take on the character. It's liek watching a kids movie. But yeah , not so bad at it.

Just like Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, former Spider-Man co-stars laugh.gif

In the next Spider-Man Homecoming 2 (working title), I bet "MJ" will become 'good looking' and Peter will fall for her. Marvel simply sandbagging this... those who complained "MJ" looked disheveled/out-of-place, that's exactly what they were going after. The sort of "the-one-you-have-been-looking-for-has-been-in-front-of-your-eyes-all-along" thing biggrin.gif

Just watched this movie two days ago. It is an excellent movie, and excellent casting on Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Michael Keaton as the Vulture.

The story is simple, but it has considerable character expositions and developments such as Vulture's motives being a villain in this movie. He is the type of villain that everyone can sympathise with.

The fight scenes are generally great, and the CGI are well-done. The music is also good, with a arrangement of the theme from the animated series back in 1960s played during the opening.

This movie does have some weak spots, such as the weak casting of some side characters, forgettable end-credits scene.

I am definitely buying the Blu-Ray for this movie. Score: 9/10

So thus the question, is this happened after Avenger EG or before Avenger EG?

And guess that Aunt May already knew Peter is Spiderman

At 1:50... why do I get a feeling The Avengers are "no more" or rather "not available anymore".

Also, Happy seems to be running around with Spidey instead of Tony Stark - - did Tony Stark... not make it? confused.gif My idea is that Tony Stark retired and is living a recluse after Endgame.

And Nick Fury doesn't look too pleased, maybe that's just how he looks all the time.

I also get the vibe of a "Young Avengers" team brewing. flex.gif

This is after Avengers Endgame, the first post-Endgame MCU film.

I'm pretty sure whatever happened to the Avengers in Endgame will carry forward in this film... it would be weird if it was happening parallel with it or BEFORE the events of Endgame.

Yeah, seems like Aunt May has embraced Peter's Spidey and loving the attention laugh.gif

As expected MJ and Peter's relationship will blossom and MJ will be dolled up instead of her washed up look in Homecoming, a really unique take on the character MJ, tampering with our expectations from the first film and that's nice.

Either he sacrificed himself being the ultimate hero or retired. Could go either way.

I doubt Robert Downey Jr. himself would want to continue playing the same role after over a decade. laugh.gif

I bet they are all Mysterio's illusion and he basically pretend to fight them to be a superhero...

Wait, I think I get the possible continuation from Endgame. The OG Avengers are gone, so Mysterio is basically like..."I'll be your new superhero".

I think MCU version will have him possessed an actual magic because that fight in the trailer does look something out of Doc Strange.

yea, I haven't really figured out reddit yet. biggrin.gif

so far tptb don't seem to want to recycle majority character/villains which has appeared in previous Spider-Man
but it'd be fun if the word Oscorp appear on the finished building later but none of Harry or Norman appear in FFH
as it could suggest the Osborns will appear in the third Spider-Man nod.gif

How to cross universe? Teleportal?Pym particle?

In CW DC Universe, Supergirl can teleport between Flash universe and hers thru Cisco's device while The Flash only need to break the speed force to teleport between universe.

I wonder how Mysterio end up at Spiderman's MCU universe.

How to cross universe? Teleportal?Pym particle?

In CW DC Universe, Supergirl can teleport between Flash universe and hers thru Cisco's device while The Flash only need to break the speed force to teleport between universe.

I wonder how Mysterio end up at Spiderman's MCU universe.

well since Mysterio is a master of deception, it might be he just made that up. still early to tell if this version of Mysterio is going to be a villain or a hero.

Thank god, don't have to pay money for this. If you are hoping for the new MCU ushering into Phase 4 post-Endgame, this is not that movie. It's another rethreading back to the by the numbers MCU formula. When you've seen enough of the trailer, you can guess how the movie will play out by the end of it. There's zero surprising element and Gyllenhaal's Mysterio is your usual insignificant villain with lazy motivation. Fanboys, of course will eat up any reference and easter eggs being thrown at them. Post-credit is another shameless sequel bait.

For the 1st time I guess...I wholeheartedly agree on ur post😂 I knew from trailer itself this film gonna be safebet minimum guarantee typical MCU potboiler & not gonna be any ground-breaking Phase 4 film. Instead of playing too-safe with Mysterio they could've went with bolder with Venom or Carnage.

I skipped Homecoming & pretty sure gonna do the same for this (thx to ur review😎)

Sam Raimi's Spiderman trilogy wud always be the best for me. Remember there were memes flying around Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker mocking Tom Holland's crying shot in the trailer "Look at little Iron Man Jr....wanna cry😂😂😂" dat cracked me up.

Instead of setting him up as Iron Man jr relying too much on gadgets...I'd prefer some character progression, personal growth...This MCU Spidey may seem fun & stuff to those "MCU fast-food apetizers"..but in reality, I think dude's shallow. Tom Holland just like Andrew Garfield (TASM) simply portray Peter Parker & Spiderman instead of diving down deep into the character & perform as the titular character itself

Jake Gylenhall as Mysterio was one such actor who you could actually see gets into the character he plays (Mysterio)

My 2 cents

As they did for Garfield's TASM and see where it has led them. Chris & Jeremy seemed satisfied with this film...but I no longer rely on their reviews cuz both gave positive reviews for Red Sparrow, 2014 Godzilla, Spiderman Homecoming that were absolutely boring...while they were harsh on Transformers: DOTM, Godzilla: KOTM while I was entertained reasonably.

Rest of em...as usual. MARVELous bandwagon😂😂😂

I think they are referencing Peter as a tech mogul before the whole Superior Spiderman thingy. IMO that's a bad route to take as any threat he's facing will be saved by the tech he pulled out of his ass, whereas in MCU will be Stark Tech. Prefer the old school characterization of struggling dork with hot MJ. It's his own perseverance and ingenuity that powered him through the obstacle.

Disney will find ways to milk IM again and don't see them forever in bed with Sony. Disagree Spidey will be the big gun for MCU moving forward.

Not sure whether the problem lies in Jon Watts's stagnant character handling or Tom Holland's charm is fast diminishing. It's only two modes of expression, I'm whining for not worthy to be in the big league or a horny teenager in desperate courtship with MJ.

Swinging on the city and some fight scenes also copy and paste from the PS4 game.

Im beginning to see DC's resurgence with WW, Aquaman, Shazam & line-up of succesive origin films as upcoming Joker, Matt Reeves Batman, Black Adam, WW2: 1984 etc

Im not Marvel hater (I've watched & liked over 16 MCU films) watched IW & EG twice @ theater...but as James Cameroon said, with Avengers: Endgame, MCU's superhero fatigue did set-in....

It's an absolute win in my books... in some ways better than "Homecoming" as this sequel explores the relationships between the characters even more especially MJ (which fans were groaning was not the MJ they wanted).

I am not familiar with the comic book source of Mysterio, but the first half of the movie, the villain was "meh" and I thought "no wonder fans are upset".... but then the twist came along biggrin.gif And it all made sense... I have to admit I didn't actual watch all the trailers to keep the surprises tongue.gif

To me this is yes, another 'typical' Marvel film but an absolute blast from start to finish. This feels like a somewhat light hearted epilogue to Endgame, and it worked.

Jake Gyllenhaal delivered a stellar performance as expected along with Tom Holland and Zendaya.

I watched it while lying down on comfy sofa (GSC Gold Class) and didn't even feel the 2 hours+ go by. laugh.gif Didn't feel any sort of pacing issues and was just hooked from the beginning.

It was hilarious, it had tender moments and a nice tribute to Iron Man. The whole EDITH thing is pretty cool too.

The mid-credits was great (another what the f--- moment) and the post-credits (expected it to be a funny tidbit) was nice as well.

To top it all off... I did comment on wanting to bring back a certain character in this topic goodness knows when... a character WE ALL LOVED from the Tobey Maguire days. This is akin to bringing back Judi Dench as 'M' in the Daniel Craig era of Bond films!!! notworthy.gif

When I saw that, I was just SUPER excited! I could not believe it.

They could have easily.... easily skewed the character towards a 'new' direction since this is Tom Holland era Spidey BUT THEY DID NOT! They kept his character just like we knew him from years ago. He could even have cameod as another character. Thank you Marvel!

To me this is one of the strongest sequels from the MCU era, here's hoping the final part of the 'Homecoming' trilogy delivers.

Trailer: Mysterio comes from another earth, teasing the MCU multiverse

Film: My reaction after finding out it's just a throwaway line...

Getting Ironman 3 vibes again (when I found out that Mandarin wasn't an evil mastermind with 10 rings of power, just a stage actor).
It's an okay 3/5 film that managed to shoot its own foot by taking the easy route in writing

I felt that too briefly tongue.gif .. but it is unlike Mandarin who "isn't actually plotting to do evil", the villain in Far From Home was absolutely convincing no thanks to Jake Gyllenhaal's performance.

"Iron Man 3" Mandarin twist remains one of my least liked MCU part.

Ben Kingsley absolutely killed dat Mandarin role. Osama ben Kingsley stuffs😂😂😂 were dark & MCU had their perfect opportunity to craft their own version of Joker

The twist itself seemed like intended comedic relief

I am super stoked for how the third and final part of the Homecoming trilogy is going to be since the mid-credits scene ohmy.gif

QUOTE
In April 2017, it was announced that a potential third film is planned.[45] In June of the same year, Holland announced that the film would take place during Parker's senior year of high school. In July 2019, Kevin Feige stated that the third film would feature "a Peter Parker story that has never been done before on film" due to the film's mid-credits scene

First thing that came to mind was Peter Parker passes the mantel of Spidey to someone else laugh.gif Miles Morales. We did get to see Aaron Davis in "Homecoming" so there's that. After all, Tom Holland has already appeared in 5 films (Civil War, Homecoming, Infinity War, Endgame, Far From Home) so a sixth and final appearance isn't too far fetched.

Yup, I feel the plot was similar to IM3, disgruntled scientist or ex employees who got rejected by Tony Starks and come back to bite him to seek revenge/attentions. Only this time around Spidey yang kena.

How i wish they made multiverse their next plots, if not MCU but at least spiderman series.

Just watched it today and I think it's weak! They tried to make it funny but IMHO not funny but more like childish/kiddie stuff. The serious parts also not done well and just weak/shallow plot. The worse is this whole story about villain using illusion to trick the world, quite lame and just too nonsense. Action was ok but IMHO as a whole this movie is probably my least favorite of the Marvel/Avenger series.

My score: just 6/10 at best!

I'm quite a fan of the whole Avengers hero movies but this one I don't quite fancy. To be honest the best Spiderman is the Amazing Spiderman where the girlfriend died at the end.

I guess for me this latest Spidie is too childish/ more suitable for kids, similar to the last few transformer movies.

Dude...you did it again😂😂😂i agree this film was childish but transformers? Really😂😂😂

Childrens will have diarrhoea watchin Bayformers😂😂😂

I've seen even grown men walking outta Age of Extinction & The Last Knight lookin brain-dead, spiritually squeezed, mentally & visually tormented....

Childrens cant bear such punishments..

I liked Dark of The Moon. And some parts of 1st TF film. Dats it
The entire series is watchable only via Youtubing epic clips or the money-shots. I'd respect any noble soul dat could withstand the "impact" of Bayformers & still lives a normal human life lol😂😂😂😂😂

All hail Russo Brothers & the script-writers...I was hardly bothered abt Cap Marvel in Endgame...while in her own movie....diff story

Guess I didnt like the actress. I'd had preferred Scarlett Witch or Gamora & Nebula to have their own films...compared to Cap Marvel

To think Scarlet Witch would've killed Thanos in 1 on 1 fight lol.

and there goes the short lived MCU Spider-man

https://deadline.com/2019/08/kevin-feige-sp...ger-1202672545/

TLDR version :
It's all about $$$$
Marvel wants a bigger share in the next MCU Spidey movies, and $ony says no, so divorced

So we won't see any MCU characters like Nick Fury or even Iron Man reference in the next Tom Holland version of Spider-man doh.gif

way to go Sony, maybe they'll just put the flop Venom is Spidey 3 to replace the MCU?

Ouch. Actually this will hurt Sony more. Up to them, they have rights to do so...

It was great having Spidey with the other characters.

It would be totally weird in the next Tom Holland Spidey movie that will have zero referencing to the MCU's character

They'll have to write a plot that the world changing Thanos event doesn't happen, there's no high tech Spidey suit from Tony, heck they can't even refer to the ex-employees of Stark Industry if they care about the continuity...
IMO there's no way for Sony to continue the current Spider-Man universe without MCU, another hard-reboot probably is incoming.

either Marvel & Sony sat down to re-nego the terms, else there gonna be a 4th reboot of Spider-Man universe doh.gif

Seems like spidey is permanently removed frm our memories...Far From Home might just be retitled Far For Ever😶😐😐😐😑

Nobody:
Reboot (in Optimus Prime voice: I'M COMING FOR YOU!!!

It'll be hilarious if Venom frm SP3 ever appears infront of Tom Holland....kid wud piss in his pants & die frm heart attack

Despite his short screen time, Venom in SP3 was legit creepy & badass

Time to rewatch Raimi's trilogy again....sigh...if only Sony had gone with Raimi's SP4 ideas...these fiascos could've been avoided

well, since merchandise rights all belongs to Disney Marvel, and Sony only has the movie rights, but Marvel is the main producer in the last two Sony's Spider-man movies, so IMO taking the 5% from Sony box office is fair & square
because many doubted the latest reboot of Spider-man would be this successful without the involvement of Marvel

Now according to sources, Disney Marvel is offering a 50/50 co-financing deal to Sony for the next movies, and of course if I'm contributing 50% of the production cost, it's natural I'll be expecting a 50% share of the return as well.
again, IMO the 50/50 co-financing is a very fair deal for both parties, and yet Sony now claiming it's Marvel's Kevin Feige won't be producing the next movies so no deal?

anyway... seems all these dramas now are just, dramas laugh.gif

I still think the next Spider-man movie will still integrate the existing MCU in it, just the matter of both parties negotiating to who will get the biggest share of the pie tongue.gif

Yeap. Spidey is back in the MCU.

I guess Marvel knew they had to renegotiate with Sony thus there was an uncertainty that prompted them not to officially announce Spidey for Phase 4 (the official announcement).

So Disney leaked the news to force Sony into a deal. Out of nowhere a succession of MCU led Spidey project drops. Fanboys will rejoice but it's a ruse. To me it's fair and square, MCU benefited the most as Sony took nothing from the 3 Spidey appearances on the Avengers. 50% co-financing on stand alone Spidey movies also means Disney potentially can dictate what Sony can and cannot do with their own Spider-verse projects.

In the end, Disney knew first hand no one in the right mind will concede on the 50% deal, but they control the narrative first by leaking. They knew full well the public will turn on Sony in this age of snowflake fanboy-ism. Also, the timing is right next to D23.

All I can hope is Sony keep doing their own thing that not conforming to just MCU branding. Taking chances like Into The Spider-verse and the best Spider-man movie to date still the second Raimi movie, not the Jon Watts one.

Tobey is managing his own business (last seen in The Great Gatsby) while Raimi co-produced Crawl

They seemed content doing their jobs. Should they ever collaborate....just a "what-if" for Spidey 4...continuation of what they left off @ Spidey 3...the hype wud be rad😂😂😂 I still fondly remember tons of fanmade youtube trailers for Spiderman 4 featuring Lizard, Carnage etc. Those were the times...Tobey Maguire still looks the same, fit for another round as Spidey while Raimi is the one director who captured hearts of million spiderman fanboys all over the globe.

I'd say what makes Raimi's Spidey films special. Just as Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy & Black Panther, it has heart, soul, warmth & connection with its characters. Admist slew of cgi-fest action superhero films today, those films are gems because of the sincerity & heart those directors put into their crafts.

I'm late to the update but from what I read, Holland will continue to play Spider-Man but Watt's involvement as director is uncertain. The third film will be different than previous Spidey films due to the likelihood of having no MCU connection.

It can still work IMO, albeit it will be a bit 'weird'. I'm hoping Holland doesn't decide to leave... I'm hoping for continuity to "Far From Home" otherwise we will have one of the worst cliffhangers in movie history! doh.gif

QUOTE
In August 2019, it was reported that Walt Disney Studios and Sony were unable to reach a new agreement regarding Spider-Man films, with Marvel Studios and Feige said to no longer have any involvement in any of the potential future films. Deadline Hollywood noted that Disney had hoped future films would be a "50/50 co-financing arrangement between the studios", with the possibility to extend the deal to other Spider-Man-related films, an offer Sony rejected and did not counter. Instead, Sony hoped to keep the terms of the previous agreement, where Marvel would receive 5% of the film's revenue, with Disney refusing. The Hollywood Reporter added that the lack of a new agreement would see the end of Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU. Variety cited unnamed sources claiming negotiations had "hit an impasse" and that a new deal could still be reached. Deadline also reported that it was believed that two additional films were said to be in development, with the hope of having Watts and Holland return for both. Sony announced that the media "mischaracterized" recent discussions about Feige's involvement in the franchise, expressed disappointment over Disney's decision, and confirmed that Feige would no longer be the lead producer on the next live-action Spider-Man film.

Despite the fallout between Sony and Disney, screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are reportedly still developing a third film. However, Watts was only set to direct the first two and his involvement with the third is uncertain. Speaking at the 2019 D23 Expo, Feige said that the deal was always short-lived and that they had already told the Spider-Man story they wanted to tell in the MCU. Holland added that while the future of Spider-Man would be different outside the MCU, he would continue to play Spider-Man.

Marvel 5% of revenue from Spidey 1 & 2, now 50% sweat.gif Why want such a deal what with all the revenue from other MCU films? This will sadly affect the fans the most. Tom Holland must be feeling really bad, while Spidey fans - - deja vu again.

Funny how the toys actually reveal the villains that were not confirmed (Mysterio, Vulture) and not the ones that were (Electro, Doc Ock). No way Spiderman can take on all of them on his own so hopefully there's a big surprise.
And hope y'all like my fan made poster.

The top looks faked but who knows, could be early days CGI, the bottom though with Matt Murdock hmm.gif

It has got to happen.

And they are 99% going to have a scene where the three Spideys point at each other in confusion.

It’s classic.

Just saw the review on this movie.

They say there’s a disjoint between the characteristics of the “returning” characters and their form in the previous movie.

So the actors’ portrayal are not “loyal” to the original story.

Still, I can’t wait to watch it this Thursday!

Its been a while since I've been in cinema watching movies where people cheers and applaud for every major moments. So nice.

Also not so spoilery 2nd after credits is a full blown trailer. And gap between mid credits and after credits is so freaking long you can take a comfortable bathroom break in between.

Leaps and bounds better.

It plays your tear glands like a guitar.

Eternals flirted with the persoalan of others forgetting who you are, this one downright brawls with it to the mud.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

I braved the cinema (again).

And for what?

For you kiddies, for you...

This is Tom Holland's most Spidey movie to date.

Not that it ignore the MCU, far from it and have to add, Spiderman storyline tend to reflect the hardship everyday life and this have that is spades (bring tissues folks, Trust me, bring tissues).

Storyline wise, we really do not know what is going to happen to Spidey's outing in MCU (eg Sony and Marvel's co-operation contract ends with this movie (or does it)?

From a storyline point of view they left it quite open ended so if the power that be decides more is required (eg why kill a golden goose), they can

The storyline even resolves some "issues" from Tobey and Andrew's Spiderman movies.

They multi tasked like crazy here... laugh.gif

This movie will make a tonne of money. No doubt.

If that happens the sky is the limit for Spiderman materials in multiple shape and form.

There are two short clips in the end credit, the second right at the end is substantial.

I enjoyed this movie immensely.

I did not have excess to an IMAX cinema at this point in time (I currently live in Sleepy Hollow)

I would have choose to watch this in IMAX is that was available to me.

As always, My Two Sen

yazzz! i’m so satisfied! this is totally a fan service movie! never have i felt this awesome before, seeing those “guys”, reminiscent of the good ol days. i’m now satisfied with tom holland’s spidey arc. he’s literally growing and becoming the spider man that we used to have before. my cinema crowd was damn awesome as well, we cheer, clap, laugh. love the ending for all the “guys”, thank u so much for the memories! love the new suit! now he is a true spider man! no more ironman jr. rclxms.gif

i just kesian those who never watched all those previous spidey movies, not sure they can appreciate this movie or not. sweat.gif

Tom Holland contract ended as spiderman after this movie. He went for snow skating after finish filming.

So, we won't know whether he'll reprise his role. I think Kevin feige is being careful just like previous RDJ huge salary and recent scarjo payout issue.

Okay I'm the sour puss gonna dunk on this movie. So after many outings as MCU's Peter Parker, there's zero character growth on Holland's Parker. He's still that annoying high schooler leading his actions via his penis. Experiencing Thanos, Mysterio's betrayal and seeing Tony's death, doesn't change his naivety at all. Dr.Strange is this movie's Dr. Macguffin and Dr.Deux Ex Machina. Conveniently he has that one spell and things for Parker to do or not do. So like any past Ironman movies, there's one thing he mustn't do at all cost and yet he does it. Again another MCU movie about correcting stupidity or mistakes. Man how many more of the tiresome same theme. As for the nostalgia bomb where "heroes" come together portion, a rather foregone conclusion how things played out. Guess I'm too desensitized with CGI orgy fest. I don't mind using it to elevate plotlines. As hollow spectacle and employing them for the sake of just using it, it's where I'm not interested. Again one note villains and Sinister Six just...is that all they can be? No point comparing this to Raimi version, Spiderman 2 is a certified modern classic. Compare this with other MCU movies instead. Gotta stop my MCU hate-watching OCD.

Not gonna deny what you say, maybe our standard of rating a good movie dropped, or simply some of us already tired of comic hero movie.

But to me, no matter how other think about the plot, im good with it. Some death scene still touch me, and the value they show still valid to me. With years of lackluster superhero movie, i would still rank this entry very high in my list

I felt the same, especially the first half. But I think the story is trying to say, in order for Peter to grow, Peter needs to lose Ben or May. Because Tobey and Andrew both lost the Uncle Ben before they grew to next phase.

Nevertheless, I agree the character development for Peter is bad.

One thing I hated is they gave the other spidermen too little screen time. First act was too slow

Also tom holland peter did everything wrong in this film, basically film about "peter screws up, tries to fix things, end up worse" part three. The other spidermen films didn't try to rehash the same story over the course of their films

To think he'd learn after ferry and mysterio debacle

I think Aunt May deserves her demise. Why? Peter wanted to send the villains back but she just had to moral high ground into making Peter help them further right? SJW gets what she deserved I guess.

But I dont understand why you hate on Strange. He’s fine. He exmachinaed nth. When things go wrong he seeks for solution one step at a time. Ex/machina would be if Strange just propose the last spell right after the first one failed.

As for that Peter with 0 character growth, I guess that’s true. After Mysterio’s event and losing Stark, he still wants to meddle with a spell that tamper with the memory of everyone (though he was not warned about the multiversal consequence). And he does not know better than to follow Aunt May’s advice, so yes he has it coming.

But if Spider-Man is as cold blooded rational as we are then he’s not Spider-Man anymore is he?

If your grandma falls from a building I won’t risk my life to save her. I bet you wouldn’t save mine either. But Spider-Man would. That’s the diff between us and Spiderman

Ok, cherrypicking the plot holes aside, I give this movie a solid 9 because of the theme it explores. It is definitely on par with Endgame.

It resonates with someone who is growing up.

1. Conflict of identities
It’s never possible to live a double life and be truly happy. Growing up there are times when we gotta choose who we are, and at times we tell ourselves if we’re not sure then why not choose both?

Peter learned this the hard way, and it reflects in his final decision in the end of the movie. If he chooses Spider-Man, he sacrifices everybody else, otherwise everyone else sacrifices for him.

2. People who want too much ends up with nothing
A part of growing up is about making choices on the goals we want to achieve. When you ask for too much, you end up getting nothing at all.

Peter’s idea of college is far too optimistic. MJ’s idea of “expecting disappointment” is what rooting us as audience to the reality. The theme shows again when Peter wants to not only send the villains back, but also cure them. In the end he was successful in doing so, but with too huge an expense.

3. Dealing with Loss
As we grow up, we win some, we lose some. Sometimes the loss is too heavy to bear. The takeaway is you gotta pick yourself up, not succumbing to negative emotions like rage, remorse, and most certainly not be vengeful.

When we expect Peter to read his letter to MJ, he didn’t. Dealing with loss, he decides to be the final bearer of the pain and not propagate the pain further. In today’s society where everyone expects gratification and justice, this is an important lesson to know that sometimes, it is better to just accept the loss than to appeal it.

The movie is basically Adulting 101. Hence, adults dont fathom Peter’s choices; the kids felt so emotional at Peter’s losses; and the in-betweeners feel torn and the pain resonates so well.

Err...erm....sigh! That's your opinion, man! I have zero sway on how you watch and enjoy your movie. Likewise it's not my business to debate you. Awesome you like the movie, you can't impose your thoughts on other people's opinion. Also don't mistake my post is to please your confirmation bias. I'm not that dude!

It's a freaking movie, either you are indifferent, love or hate over it. No need to tell me why I'm wrong in my assessment.

This movie really proves Andrew Garfield is a talented, scene-grabbing actor.

He was royally wasted by the bad scripts of the ASM series.

Sigh Sony Columbia is just terrible.

BTW I like how low-key Tobey is. He happy to step back and let the two Spideys makan the screen.

Not gonna deny what you say, maybe our standard of rating a good movie dropped, or simply some of us already tired of comic hero movie.

Never underestimate the effectiveness of Disney's marketing power. Before MCU, children are conditioned on their 2d cartoons. Then they have the Disney princesses for adolescence crowd. Next they have Pixar, that targets their core PG13 market. MCU has been brainwashing nerds how to react to what a superhero movie suppose to be. Also we are wired differently, I have few decades of comic books collecting experience. You don't just read Marvel books because they are cool. The artist and writers is a big reason why you're reading them. When Alan Moore revolutionised the comic book medium, it's not just a children pastime hobby anymore. Now all the cutting edge and meaningful good stuffs are not in the Marvel branding. Then again it's nothing wrong if you like Marvel's IP, just wish they don't rehash the formula in making their movies. There's more than one way to skin a cat, just saying.

The movie is good, but Spiderman 2 and Into the spiderverse are much better IMO.

some negatives:
- I dont like the final boss fight scene because its edited like the Taken 3 Liam Neeson gif meme.

- overall action sequences (other than the one in the apartment) are average at best.

- CG is also surprisingly bad on lots of scenes, which is surprising considering couple years old Avengers movies had noticeably better CG.

Shang-Chi director is helming this (Destin Daniel)

The plot supposedly will be a lot more "grounded" with Peter tackling smaller crimes in NYC

I think it's a nice step back to classic Spidey calling, but I'm sure it will all add up to the Phase 6 culmination of Avengers Doomsday

A truck was spotted with a demon-like logo (Inner Demons/Mister Negative potentially the villain) tongue.gif
