Anyone owns and used a Wide Converter(filter) before?

I mean, I got no money to go for a wide angle lens, might as well, I get a wide converter.

avoid it at all cost, you will end up wasting few hundred ringgit. mind specify which wide converter you are getting?

My friend got one before. I tried his camera and lens attached with the converter. Not only it is heavy and might ruin the lens auto focus mechanism, it also introduced vignetting.

View like no wider at all.

still researching though, thought I'd be in good hands before I really going to buy.
Saw a bulky one the Neewer, and also searching taobao got me a smaller size from Chinese makers.

The old one isn't bad but of course, newer ones tend to be better. I thoroughly enjoyed my time using the first 16-35mm f/2.8 L

The used resale price is less than 3k right now , very attractive me, cause recently more on focus to Milky Way.
Maybe this lens should perform much better.

Aside from the Mk3, Mk2 actually performs worse than the F4 version even in astrography.
Go Google Dustin Abbot on his 3-way shootout comparison btw 2.8mk2, F4 and the Tamron. Coma wise the 2.8 was the worse of the lot.

No, it's not. If you are looking for a fast wide angle for the purposes of milky way only. I don't think one can beat the value, IQ and sharpness of 14mm 2.8 Rokinon or Samyang. Either one would put a shame on Canon 14mm 2.8 L. By the way, the Canon prime is a terrible choice consider one can get from Sigma, Rokinon or Samyang. If u are fine with manual focus lens, the Rokinon or Samyang is by far the best choice, bar none.

I once walked the street of Tokyo with Samyang 14mm F2.8, it was challenging but fun with manual lens. i can't imagine how hard can it be with milky way - just twist focus to Infinite and snap away.

I've the canon mount samyang 14mm T/3.1 lens.
It's ok. Not exactly super sharp but it's pretty damn good for its price. Not as sharp as the Nikon 14-24. But then again I've not tested the canon.

As a Canon shooter, the 14-24 is the only Nikon Lens i lust. It's an incredible fine piece of optics.

Not really

And a lens is more than sharpness, have to look at colour, contrast, CA, distortion and stuff

Watch reviews and go and test the lens urself to see whether u like it or not

I think it's an alright estimation.
Although lens performance is more than just that.
Some lens might perform differently at different working distance. There is also performance at different aperture.

It shouldn't matter that much though unless it's really bad.

5d4 new firmware has officially announced. It's nothing more than few minor bug fixes.

https://www.dpreview.com/news/6297037539/ca...-with-bug-fixes

Firmware Version 1.0.4 incorporates the following fixes and improvements:

1. Fixes a phenomenon in which a red-colored area may appear at the bottom-center of a captured image when shooting in bulb mode or during a long exposure.
2. Fixes a phenomenon in which the autofocus may not respond when the autofocus is initiated via pressing the shutter button, the AF-ON button or the AE lock button when configured in the custom control menu.
3. Enhances the reliability of communications between the camera and SD card.
4. Fixes incorrect wording on the Finnish language menu screen.

And they're charging 99 bucks for that.
I think I'll just skip this upgrade.
Not going to pay for something that's supposed to be free.

Need to send in and there will be a hardware mod apparently.

Btw, even Panasonic is doing this right? To have their Panasonic log file must pay and that is only a software purely
