Oh... if we know the exact miles and also the top up cash difference... can see whether worth it or not..if the mile difference is 45k and we assign value of RM0.08 per mile, then unless we need to top up more than RM3,600 then could be better to go with AM... of course , this is rough estimate and different people assign diff values
*
those with shortage of miles, will probably be better off trying am....

Generally yes but answer isn't that straight forward.
Some airlines will have different clauses and of course different miles required.
I will suggest you aim for their own redemption (kf redeem sia, am redeem Cathay), after getting familiar only look into partner airlines.

Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines can board at KL or need to go to HK / SG to transit?

QUOTE(digidigi @ May 7 2019, 11:44 PM)
Maybe u can tell us how many miles u have and where u want to go, and whether u have any preferences, I will give some suggestion

instead of deciding now where to go, I better convert all my TP to air miles before the TP devalues.

kf is region based redemption, so the miles should be the same whether starting from kul/pen/bkk or sin...of course you will fly first to sin to connect the main flight....

am i think some additional miles needed for the kul-hkg leg......

ok noted. thanks a lot icon_rolleyes.gif

understanding this, KF is a better option than AM because Singapore is nearer tongue.gif

btw, what is connecting partner?

and, in order to redeem points, firstly we need to create a KF/AM account, right?

Partner airlines, like SQ with NZ or MH with EK, they are not in the same Alliance, but code sharing their flights etc.

Yes, u need to create the FFP account before u redeem your treatpoints to miles.

Stick to 1, u will be less headache.

such as top up credit to e wallet using Amex and pay utilities?

from the announcement, it does not mention M2P? Does it mean M2P will not affected by the miles redemption devaluation?

Would suggest SQ if you don’t mind the short transit in Changi.

Seriously the J product of SQ is wayyy better than MH.
Not to mention you need less miles for redemption too.

If MU wins this weekend, my TP maybe just around 200k. I don't think it will help in any way for my trip to Finland/Germany (either one) and Shanghai this year. sad.gif

Japan = AM via JL
Korea = AM via KA/CX / EM
Taiwan = AM via KA/CX

If y class just do em.....if j class, em miles is crazy, so use kf.....the hard and soft product are better anyway, except the need for a transit.....which I use for a free short holiday in Singapore....

Really? This lives up my hope... I only started collecting in February... Hopefully trip will be in September for me to collect more points but Europe trip will be soon, I think... Depending on my travel partner's business trip schedule, I only tag along this time rather than I travel for business trip myself. tongue.gif

Great tips! I will check out AM when my trip is confirmed. By the way, will it work well for last minute's trip? Let's say 2 weeks-4 weeks ahead of schedule?
