Plan to get:-
Intel Core i7 6700
Asus H170 PRO
Kingston DDR4 2133 16GB(8GB*2)
FSP Hexa+ 550w
Bitfenix Nova

Use back:-
Hard disk x2
Palit GTX950 StormX Dual
DVD Writer

My question is, Asus H170 PRO is it enough for Intel i7 CPU? Will it bottleneck the processor performance?
Since I got GPU, can I use Xeon processor to replace the i7 6700? XEON E3 1220 V5 is selling for RM899.
Or XEON E3 1220 V5 performance only can compare with i5 6600?

No mobo will bottleneck the locked i7, even with the cheapest H110 mobo, you just get more on-board features with better chipset.

Skylake Xeon only usable on C232 chipset mobo, it doesn't work on normal consumer grade mobo anymore.

If you are going for Xeon path, you need to look for Xeon E3 1230 V5 instead of Xeon E3 1220 V5, the latter CPU is 4C4T which is basically an i5 (between i5 6400 and i5 6500), 1230 V5 is 4C8T and is competing directly with i7 6700.

Hi..can anyone suggest me a PC for engineering simulation. As powerful as possible with budget 5-7k. Can put more budget if really needed. Multitasking also.

Intel Core i7
Cooler
Highest RAM?
Mobo?
Nvidia GC around 1k (if not bottleneck)
2 TB Hdisk
Power supply
Casing
Auto backup external hdisk
Monitor 23"

TQ

Hi All Sifu, I slightly increase my budget to 5K and need commend for the build below, I wish to play around on overclock (I am newbie for this) and purely for gaming on 1080P 40 inch TV:

PROCESSOR - INTEL CORE I5 6600K - RM1015 (After discount)
CPU COOLER - CRYORIG R1 ULTIMATE - RM359
MOBO - ASUS Z170-K - RM549 (After discount)
RAM - GSKILL RipjawsV Silver 2x8GB DDR4 2400mhz (CL15) - RM499
GRAPHIC CARD - EVGA GTX1060 Superclocked ACX3.0 6GB DDR5 192Bit - RM1399 (After discount)
PSU - SuperFlower Leadex Gold 650W - RM449
CASE - NZXT S340 BLUE - RM330
SSD - SAMSUNG 850 EVO 120GB - RM279

Total - RM4879

P.S.Above is refer to IDEALTECH build list.

If you are rich means, go for 1070. That seems like an overkill build.

You can safely save RM1k.

Buy an i5 6600 processor, non K version. Use the stock cooler.

Get a 600W Bronze PSU.

Get a cheaper case.

Get a cheaper motherboard.

Only sensible thing in your build is a GTX 1060. I have a GTX 960 running in a 4 year old Dell PC, now going to buy GTX 1060. I just feel you pay too much for no reason. GTX 1060 is extremely power efficient, won't cause worry to your motherboard at all.

So the 1080p 144Hz monitor is included in your 3k budget? hmm.gif

If yes then you need to sacrifice a lot on the rig components because 144Hz monitor isn't cheap (cheapest is around 1k).

So a normal 1080p 60Hz TN/VA will do right?

Intel Core i5 6402P - RM 773
Asus H110M-K - RM 274
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 130
Palit GTX960 4GB GDDR5 Jetstream - RM 948
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 209
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Tecware F3 - RM 119
BenQ GW2270 - RM 379

Total: RM 3020 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If you need SSD, swap the GPU to 2GB model so you can add in a 120GB SSD.

If you don't need monitor then you can upgrade the GPU to RX480/GTX1060.
