Crazy, hope you have free time to help me fix that 10m radial. We have 2 options, bring down and try to fix the thread if cannot then try claim warranty if really cannot. We remove the 80m radial and put the 10m one there.. Since 80m is for cw only. I think. Anyhow, thank alot crazy!! The tuner was great and the power supply too.. Now left the radio havent arrive. Eddy how is the key ah??

mr77 is among the best quarter length antenna, put it at the center of your car's roof and I don't think you'll have problem hitting repeaters or doing simplex tens of miles away ..

Indeed one of the best 1/4 wave, good for repeaters. However, due to high take off angle simplex performance is just so so only..

Wiraone, I thought you are very technical person? Haha or you wanna test me. http://www.mikezulu.com/angle.htm here is a good explanation about angle of radiation. 1/4 wave is known for its high take off angle so I would use it for hitting repeaters. For simplex performance I would go for a 5/8 mobile antenna as the take off angle is much much lower. Almost horizontal maybe?

No really, I've heard about this take off angle on HF antenna design, but I don't really know that it also affecting the vertical VHF mobile antenna too. I'm probably technical when it goes about computer but not about radio transmission smile.gif

One thing though, this is from my previous experience in convoy somewhere at PLUS highway near Tanjung Malim, I was using SG7500 and another friend using SG7900 and the third car was using MR77 on top of his roof. We had a conversation with another ham from Sg Besar (from his home, guess on vertical too) .. at one time, we, the one with 5/8s couldn't hear anything .. but the guy with the MR77 just happily continue his conversation.. I guess positioning the antenna at the centre of the roof really help I guess.. as said, my knowledge in antenna is almost nil! smile.gif
