If you just want to do tracking .. which is one way communication .. then get in touch with 9W2RUT (9w2rut @ gmail.com should reach him) .. a clone of the original TinyTrack. If you want the one that can work as digipeater, then you need to order it direct from Byonics .. cost wise including shipping is around US$100 I think .. I've got two OpenTracker2 and one TinyTrack4 .. the OT2 are for my cars .. and TT4 for the fill-in digipeater ..

Yes sure if you've done pcb etching before .. or probably using the protoboard .. the pcb drawing could be downloaded from the net .. and you need a PIC programmer too. I've no idea how much RUT charges, but I think it is around RM100 or so .. fully tested.. you need to supply your own gps though.

There are a couple of local sellers you can get from though.

I got a unit of VX-8R with MH-74 submersible mic/speaker and Diamond SRH940..unfortunately, IMHO it's not worth paying for such a handy, I rather get a mobile rig instead or VX170. You need to purchase additional GPS unit in order to use the APRS function, additional bluetooth card for the bluetooth headphone function. The battery is not lasting compared to FT-60R and VX170 which uses NIMH battery. I am kinda regretted. Now it is just sitting there and listen to FM radio. I got another unit of VX-170 and FT-60R which i think it is more than enough for hammers...

My simple base station setup using Yaesu FT2900R and 29A adjustable switching PSU.

home base setup with mobile rig...

LOL, I am an E&E person but wiring up these stuff is just my hobby. my location - somewhere in Selangor.. These switching powersupply come with variable voltage and current, I got this for RM230. I tested the transformer type 25A Telectron power supply. Unfortunately, it is not regulated and the voltage is not adjustable. I measured the voltage from transformer and it's whopping 20V! Anything more than 15V will kills your mobile rig instantly (Tips: ALWAYS READ THE USER/OPERATION MANUAL BEFORE WIRING IT UP!).

As for the switching PSU, when I TX in full 75W, the voltage drop around 1V, thus I crank it up to between 13.8V and 14V.

Here's some pic of my VX-8R

Hi 9W2AGW

I think its a bit too sensitive to list out local sellers here but if you google it, I am pretty sure you can get it.

Dont mean to be suspicious but you cant be too careful at times, you must have just passed the RAE? Unable to google your callsign have me a lil bit edgy hehheeh.

90% of my stuff from pak syed if you get my drift.

The only seller which listed out the price is the kedaiscs. And looking at the price there, they seem to be the normal selling prices (i.e. you'll get the same price from any of the local sellers). Anyway, MARES fleamarket will be held at MARES HQ, PJ this coming Saturday starting at 2:30pm.. there will be no bargain at the fleamarket but you could get most of the thing you want .. I guess.. smile.gif
