8800 if you are driving shouldnt be a problem ma. Might as well get locally, unless you are going to SG for vacation or other business.

Local sets are all modded before they leaves SG. SG shops offer such services free.
Too bad the VX8 is still unable to be modded or if anyone got updated info please pass to me. Else the vx8 will become a paper weight..

its tx'ing on the wider band like 140 above all the way to 170mhz(police band are normally 170 - 180) perhaps?

hahaha

and also on the lower band like airband 110 - 120mhz ...

but of course these are all ilegal la and ur 9w2 nor 9m2 allows you to tx on those freq bracket ...

Not that many HT could transmit on AM/Airband .. and if your set has it, please restrain yourself from using the known channels/frequncies used by the aircrafts & towers .. monitoring should be okay, but transmitting should be a no-no.. unless if you're a licensed pilot inside an aircraft..

Well yes you can tx at almost all freq if you have the VX7, this model when modded are extremely wide band. And there are no gaps. The only limiting factor is the antenna, anything out of the ham band it will heat up the VX7. Anyway in Malaysia, people mod it just to get on the commercial band but that would be only for the time being. MCMC have decided to stop the commercial club VHF and move them to UHF. So do keep an eye out for cheap single VHF band units for sale soon blush.gif

I am not too sure too, the tweety bird says "commerical clubs" I would take that as club registration instead of company. That is my understanding and move them to UHF. I am keeping an eye for MCMC announcement too but so far it have not been updated.
