I used lamptron fc9.... supposedly provides 50w per channel but the fans have some trouble starting up. have to fiddle abit with both or one by one to coax the beasts awake... then they can go max with no problem ^^

Well yeah, lamptron fan controller control fan by voltage, not pwm, thats why your fan had problem to starting up tongue.gif
High ampere fan usually will not start to spin untill they were supplied with enough voltage, eg 7V.
if controlled by pwm signal they will spin even at the lowest speed(but they still noisy though).

Hmm?

Well with just a little tweaking I could still get the two to spin fast but silent... the airflow feels like 140mm nzxt stock at 1500 rpm

You didnt get my points sweat.gif
Eventually you will feel tired with fan noise lol, i used to control all the fans with fan controller, but over time it become hassle cause need to control manually tongue.gif
Now all my fans are controlled by mobo, i have 2 fan controllers, one is for testing fan only, the other Lamptron is collecting dust doh.gif

Seems to me like the Artic F12 is your choice then cause at that price you ruled out noctua, noiseblockers & darkwings already tongue.gif

if its for intake & exhaust, I'll just pick the one with the best airflow (CFM)/noise (Sone, DB) ratio... and of course within budget thats specified

but take all fan specs with a grain of salt as some of them does not exactly perform as stated

Added 4 Xigmatek XLF-F1255 to my case, but realise it's too noisy without fan ctrl.

Sorry it should be F1254, thanks to Lamptron FC5, now i can either turn off the fan at night or max out for gaming biggrin.gif
