hmm... sometimes i don't really understand people willing trade off their pleasure in driving for 5 freaking years since they are so bloody concern of resale value.

Depends on whether driving pleasure is important to the owner. Many non-car enthusiasts just want a reliable car to get from A to B and driving is a chore so what driving pleasure?

I use a passat cc 2.0TSI 6DSG as daily drive. In terms of driving pleasure, I love every part of it to the extent I keep pressing with my right foot

In terms of comfort, you can practically feel everything the road....I changed my front absorber for RM3k but the ride only improved a little. You may wonder why the absorbers so expensive? Its because the passat cc comes with DCC(Dynamic Control Chassis <---not sure if this is the right word), hence the high price.

In terms of regular maintenance, it will cost about RM600 to RM800 for normal service and if major service, it will cost about RM1.2k to 1.6k.

If you are willing to sacrifice abit of fun driving, go for the 1.8TSI with warranty. But make sure you got extra car in case you get a lemon unit. However, if you want more fun, go for the 2.0TSI and do your service outside as VW SC can make you puke blood.

DCC is Dynamic Chassis Control. But if we are not using a suspension that supports DCC then it's just function like a normal suspension and DCC is disabled (we can't press the button beside the GB). Anyway,3K for the suspension - which brand? I only know Bilstien B6 costs around that. The original Monroe suspension costs around ~8k quoted from the SC.

I got the stock absorbers bro. Got it at Quattro Autohaus who claimed to order from Singapore same as SC

I see. Yes Quattro Autohaus parts are the same as the SC... I thought you installed Bilstien which costs cheaper than the stock but better perfomance.

cool, any idea where I can get Bilstien? Does it support DCC too? I am planning to change my rear absorbers soon too

Clovertech Garage in Sunway - was quoted 3k++. No DCC functionality. If you have changed your front with a new pair, I suggest you to use the same brand as the front because changing to other brands will require you to change all of the absorbers.

I know of a brand which supports DCC which is kW v3 costs around 8-10k.

I knew a few taukes, that willing to spent 10+ks on sofas, but stingey on cars.

The fact is, they spent less time on the sofa.

reliability, customer service & specification. owned the golf for a few years. so many technical glitch including gearbox issues. Had to leave the car for several days & endless follow-up. since its used by my wife, kinda hassle to share car (before they introduce the spare car mobility something..) sold at 72,000+/- mileage.

Eventho the mazda 3 is not as 'spirited' as the golf, reliability seems good (owned since mid 2015). more specification with lower price 120K++ . customer service has been pretty well so far. overall built quality i think VW is nothing more than a regular honda mazda toyota. just that its a german brand. nothing superior. i bought it last time coz my wife wants a 'continental' car... & only golf tsi fits my budget for a second car that time. haha

Guys, thanks for your comments. I finally decided NOT to buy the vw cc. Main reason - fear of gearbox faulty.

Just now i visited audi. Theyre offering the current model A4 with lots of goodies & kits at a discounted price cuz the new A4 is coming. Right from audio system, the gps to full s-line kits.

But...... its a CVT pulak.. Need to look through how the CVT in A4 behaves before i book one. Maybe anyone could share here?

Cant remember the list well. I was told it will include b&o sound system, updated sat nav, comfort key, sports velvet seats & 19 inch wheels. Looks like an upgrade compared to the baseline sitting at thd car park

Pening alrdy now. but the feeling & sporty-ness of the A4 seems lesser than the cc. Perhaps the sitting position n roofline of cc is more sporty

May I know what is the price they currently offering you?

That offer is pretty standard since last year already. All A4 comes with the b&o sound system, comfort key, etc but the price? I know they were having a sale for the A4 at rm210k or so. That's why I wanted to know what's the current offer now. Pricing should be lower since the new model is coming out.

Resale value is one, reliability is another. I drive a Mazda 3 for 6 years. No problem. My worst repair problem these 6 years? 5th year engine mount koyak. Cost 1.4k to repair. That also can be considered wear and tear.

My sis vw polo tsi however, one year go in sc for warranty at least once a year. Her gearbox
KO at 20 plus k km. And a lot of other niggly things.

My friend Peugeot 308 turbo lol also same. Suka suka engine sensor light up. Also once to twice a year in sc.

My theory? European mid range cars not designed for our weather. Sensors break down faster.
But they won't fix it.. Why? European arrogance lor.

Can't comment for beemers Audi and merc.

But if I'm gonna get conti, it better well be those brands coz even if I get those crap problem, at least i drive a luxury brand lol.

It is better you test drive it. You can go glenmarie, vw and Audi showroom just a few shops away.
I believe the A4 you been offer is the 1.8 with 8 gears. With 19" wheel, it will be very sloppy, you better check it out yourself.
