Hi, a colleague of mine wants to sell his VW Passat CC & offered me quite interesting price. However, I am worried about several things since there has been issues with VW especially its DSG & TSI engine.
The car is year 2013, mileage around 50,000 kms. Got few years warranty left. Outlook is great, just like a new car. Owner claimed that the car is running good without any problem. It's a 1.8 TSI model with 7 speed DSG.
I read from many forums, some said only 1.4 TSI + DSG is problematic but not the 1.8 TSI with DSG. Some said the previous version of Passat CC with 2.0 is better than the 1.8TSI. Not sure how far this is true. any comments?

About the warranty, I remember they offer 5 years that time, first 2 years are by factory, the rest are by insurance. The warranty claim by insurance is a pain in the back, it is something like an accident claim, you will need adjuster to evaluate it. The process take time and might not able to claim full. Anyway you should check to VW MY, I long time didn't go back to them. The car is year 2013, mileage around 50,000 kms. Got few years warranty left. Outlook is great, just like a new car. Go check the service booklet, see if the service is done within 15,000km each time. There are cases warranty claim rejected because car was service over the mileage. Also see what is the thing change and complain. If there is complain of gearbox , at least make sure it been ratified before you buy.
As long as it is dry clutch 7 speed DSG DQ200, it is the one received the most complain. Polo tsi & gti, golf tsi, Passat 1.8 are the few models using It.
I have to say vw dsg do give a very good feeling when you are having a spirited run, the up/down shift is like a perfect shift all the time. No lagging and right on the power.
