Hi, a colleague of mine wants to sell his VW Passat CC & offered me quite interesting price. However, I am worried about several things since there has been issues with VW especially its DSG & TSI engine. The car is year 2013, mileage around 50,000 kms. Got few years warranty left. Outlook is great, just like a new car. Owner claimed that the car is running good without any problem. It's a 1.8 TSI model with 7 speed DSG. I read from many forums, some said only 1.4 TSI + DSG is problematic but not the 1.8 TSI with DSG. Some said the previous version of Passat CC with 2.0 is better than the 1.8TSI. Not sure how far this is true. any comments?

QUOTE(theanswer @ Feb 15 2016, 05:12 PM) the problem is with the gearbox. check the type of dsg..6 speed or 7 speed. Its a 7 speed type dsg. So is this the problematic one everyone is talking about? I heard vw malaysia already resolved the problem. Is there such thing?

Before u actually buy it , visit any VW and check out their current price . Passat is going for RM30k or RM40k off retail price last few weeks before CNY , a friend bought 1 . VW is trying to clear their old stock . Those are 2014 cars but new and cant sell .

Getting Started

|
Bro, what car u currently using? & what type of car u looking for?
Honestly, passat cc only good in terms of look. Gearbox will give u prob one day. If u like passat cc, buy the pre facelift. That one is 6 speed, less problem.
Recently, I ditched my golf tsi dsg & bought a mazda 3. One of the best decision ever.

VGM announced that all probs with DSG is resolved through the use of mineral oil & new mechatronics, is this a permanent fix to the infamous dsg problem?

Bought it for the space & 4x4 capability. Now looking for a sporty sedan for a simpler ride.

Upon confirmation by buyers and deposit paid , they will register the car to the dealer eg goh brothers or whichever dealers u got it from . Then they will transfer it to u , as a demo car unit sold off . Some practice other car dealers like bmw are doing for a while .

If can..try avoid vw cars.although it is a good cars, but the possibility to be hit with dsg problem is really high..I suggest u get peugeot 508, or ford mondeo..both this car got turbo and price under rm100k..just search at mudah.my .2nd hand price really drop kaw2 because this 2 cars are not that cheap to maintain.but since u said ur current car is land rover, then it should be no problem to maintain this 2 cars..

I don't think Peugeot or Ford will give a more reliable ride than a VW, generally speaking. The Mondeo is quite uncommon so the fear is more of spare parts availability.

tried the car today. transmission feels good. driving feels a little bit laggy perhaps due to the 18" wheels? all gadgets & gizmos working perfectly tho.. still deciding whether to proceed or not this one he is letting go slightly above 100k which is relatively cheaper compared to used & pre-owned market. even the discounted unregistered stocks r still selling at 180k-200k This post has been edited by ssyy: Feb 16 2016, 02:58 PM
