Hi, planning to upgrade from Streamyx 1Mbps to Unifi 30.

Question, I'm not sure how does Unifi setup looks like, can anyone please explain? Like how streamyx works by phone line splitting into phone and modem, then modem transmit wifi to all devices in the house.

But how about Unifi? Is it the same? if so then can I put the modem and router different location from hypptv box which is connected to the tv? ie can hypptv box connect to modem via wifi? Cuz my tv and hypptv box will be downstairs, and I want the modem/router to be upstairs so that my pc can connect to modem via LAN cable instead of wifi for better stability.

Are you staying at a landed house or high rise (apartment/condo/flats)?

If it's a landed house, they will drill a hole to bring the Fibre cable into your house
If it's a high rise, they will use the original ADSL telephone socket that you currently use for your Streamyx

landed, oh so the modem will not be connected to the telephone line, and connected to that fibre cable instead?

how about hypptv box? must use wire to connect to modem or can it connect via wifi (ie hypptv and modem can be separately located)?

The hypptv can be connected by wifi if you want but your router must support (TM's Doesn't) Vlan tagging for guest wifi(You need this for seperate wifi connection), I tried it and it works.

In CSGO, how does the problem looked like? is it something like delaying? i can't listen to voice chat at all in the game (voice seems like lagging). Then, i felt like some sort of delaying... even chat as well...

Literary lagging as in suddenly everything stopped then move again and bodies dropping frm the sky. Rubber banding / yoyo effect however you call it. And then the common red word on top right saying connection time out and count down frm 20 seconds

Hi jack2001, this is interesting, I disconnect and pack-up the HyppTV box as soon as the installer leave my house because I will not be able to enjoy it since the installer told me can't use Wi-Fi to watch it and LAN cable is not an option for me. Just to verify, they gave me this kind of box:

Attached Image

Since you said TM's own router doesn't support streaming with Wi-Fi, what is the other options?

1) I bought Asus RT-AC55UHP and it has guess network support, can this router be configure to watch HyppTV wirelessly?

2) I have a Linksys E4200 loaded with DD-WRT (and I saw Vlan tagging in there, although I don't know how they work), can I use this Linksys router as a repeater or how can I utilize this old router for HyppTV? icon_question.gif

I heard some user complain about TM's Huawei router sucks, but I can get good speed from it's W-Fi signal. Here's the Speedtest result, all default TM equipment with default setting, did the test with my good old Galaxy Note 3 blush.gif

But I do admit this Huawei router really ugly looking. sweat.gif

U am not sure about Asus, you might need to ask other sifus regarding that, this is what my D-link router shows.

I made a guest wifi for Hypptv, then use Vlan tagging to map it to IPTV's port. It is grey out but thats because the guest wifi is disabled as I am no longer using it. Good luck wink.gif

Guys try the method below.

If you don't know what is your external IP address, you may find it by going to this website http://www.network-tools.com
Hi thanks for the tip. It works!

After rebooting my router from a 210.x IP which was giving me slow loading times with Facebook, I have managed to reboot to a 175.x IP and suddenly my Facebook is now loading instantly.

can confirm it works. Just rebooted my modem couple of times to get the 175.XXX IP and facebook is now loading normally. I'll test out games and update here later. icon_rolleyes.gif

The Huawei router is good too for me but the WiFi signal is not strong and coverage is not far.
That's why I have an access point from my Xiaomi router to transmit the WiFi signal from my stock router.
