Can we defend 1500?

What is there to defend.
I'm hoping for a nosedive.

Japan marker and US futures still crashing this morning.

Definitely will go down below 1500 today.

Time to buy some names.

S&P 500 and Dow Jones officially dropped more than 20%. We're now entering the period of bear market.

Gentlemen, it's a pleasure to be with you and to discuss and grow alongside one another.

Local market dipped just 6% so far.
Seems relatively controlled.

Bursa is controlled most of the time. as not much foreign funds left in bursa, bursa may end up better than others.

That's a good point. PMX getting local institutions to increase their portfolio locally cushions the volatility.

From an investors perspective, this dampen the opportunity. But it'll help stop people going off buildings and the Penang bridge.

Time to start making moves again after sitting the past couple of years.

For Bursa, a lot of foreign investors hv sold already. We had net foreign outflow for last 6 months. Our domestic insti not yet full on buy mode..this year they hv just been buying bit by bit, but they still hv a lot of buying power.

After current turbulent is over, believe other market will likely recover sooner than bursa.

At current market sentiment, foreign funds have better opportunity elsewhere, unlikely to consider bursa in volume.

I am grateful that Bursa is still somewhat defensive. Sold most of my Bursa stocks today (those still in profit or small loss), leaving only those in deep red.

Must honour stop loss when it is triggered if wanna survive to old age ... 3 crisises since 2020, how to buy and hold for long term?

Because long term investors can ride events like this.
When your investment horizon is over 10 to 15 years, the market almost always goes up.

Investing since 2020 is not that long experience wise.

Were u in the market during the start of the lockdowns in March 2020? I was. This tariff crash has the same panicky feel like back then.

Was buying back then, and am buying now..

Yes, I sold a big chunk of my stocks in March 2020 and use the cash to buy others stocks (of better quality than what I owned previously) using DCA from April 2020 to early 2021. Did alright.

Over the past 150 years, (US) stocks have entered bear-market territory about every 6 years on average. But in the past 5 years alone, there is 3 big stock market drops - Covid, Fed raising interest rates and now Orange Monkey wrecking the global economy. Exhausting.

Yeah, I saw in the news that retail investors are aggresively buying now, like in 2020, while some hedge funds have sold all stocks.

Retailers often buy on sentiments rather than on fundamentals. With enough retailers, they could move the market in the short term and often couldn't sustain.

If we're being honest, the Bursa impact was just a dent.
None of my Buy orders were triggered.

Haha, even in my dreams I'm not that optimistic. biggrin.gif
It wasn't even a 5% drop. Basically a non-event.

EPF just reported sold 12,000,000 CIMB. Nobody waste a chance to make some profits given the opportunity.
