Indonesia's stock market halted trading on Tuesday for the first time since 2020 after the benchmark Jakarta Stock Exchange Composite Index plunged more than 7% from the previous day's close, reigniting concerns over economic stability and consumer sentiment.

The Indonesia Stock Exchange halted trading for 30 minutes this morning after the index lost 5%.

The Indonesia Stock Exchange announced on Tuesday that a temporary halt on the trading system was confirmed at 11:19:31 Jakarta time due to the IDX composite's decline. When trading resumed, the index extended its losses to 7.1% at one point, before regaining some ground.

Will this drop spread to other ASEAN market like AFC 1997?

Indonesia is not the first. Thailand is the first of SEA and now Indonesia.

Surprise to admit but in comparison Malaysia is more well run with our gov doing the correct steps of reducing deficit. Increasing revenue collections and reducing stimulative spending. Nevertheless we still see foreign fund outflow hitting bursa with index going below 1.5k. But i believe we wont have panic capitulation like indo unless tariff target our export hard on april 2nd

Both thai and indo is a result of wrong policy at the wrong time.

Its sad to see Thailand at this stage.

Aging population, decline demand of Japan Automobile due to China EV, King and Royal Issue.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Vietnam will fare better in this coming decade. Malaysia will be forever stucked in 3R issues

It might be a repeat of 97 or it might not. But rationally i don't think it will and i dont wish for it.

I think its good to be grounded and not fall prey to euphoria/exuberance, but never let it cloud your decision till you find joy more towards seeing people / market fail than growing your own wealth.

As per Munger quote.

QUOTE
"As said before, we compare relatively, most with those we know really good or with whom we have a similar starting point. But what is frightening, when we are envious, we not only feel bad, we make often poor and unreasonable decisions.

'There is an old Russian story where a farmer finds a magic lamp. He rubs it, and a genie appears who promises to grant him one wish. The farmer thinks for a moment then says: 'My neighbor has a cow. I don't have a cow. I wish my neighbor's cow dead.''- Peter Bevelin

on one hand, there could be a recession in US. But on another hand, if the fear of Trump's policies subsides, then markets will rally. But glad that I'm like most investors here, holding some cash & watching at sidelines

I think highly likely this isn't the bottom yet, Trump's tariffs haven't taken into effect. The market rebound you see these few days is just dead cat bounce, a normal occurrence when stocks are oversold.

Problem is Trump is so unpredictable. Really wondering what kind of financial advisors he has. Using tariff as a weapon is not gonna MAGA

Here's my pick:

- Buy Shake Shack
- Sell Starbucks
- Buy Credo Technology

Analyze, assess, make your conclusion, and take your own risk. Best of luck to all of us. smile.gif
