what would you guys invest if you think financial crisis is coming? Gold??
*
Are u referring to a 2008 style Global Financial crisis?

If yes, then Gold did pretty well then. Gold was around RM70/gm in 2007, it jumped to about RM100 in early 2008. A nice 40% return in a year. And do u know tht you can actually buy gold using Bursa trading account. I. e. Goldetf (0828EA).

Of course, the problem will be timing. When will this financial crisis happen? Gold does not generate any dividends. And Gold price tend to fall when RM strengthen. You could be losing money while holding Gold waiting for a financial crisis.. What if the financial crisis happen only 5 years from now.? Can tahan?

If ur timing is right, you can make tons of money via derivatives or shortselling rather than gold. See movie Big Short.

P/S Im an investor in Goldetf at the moment. YTD return 8%.

Gold price jumps now... coincidence ? ?
*
Other than the fundamental reasons (interest rate, trade war, Iran, crazy Trump), technically Gold has also broken the USD1400/ounce lvl, which is highest it has been in 5 yrs.

Still wait for G20 this weekend. If Trump and Xi Jiping kiss n make up, I think gold will fall back ( how much dunno) n stocks will go crazy. If they fight..

Goldetf (0828EA)s up YTD11. 43%. Not bad.

For those who think Trump and Xi are not going to make up, I think you should consider investing here. Or to hedge your stock position. It's stamp duty exempted.

hi sifu2 sekalian, does it matter on which board a security is listed on?
how should we factor this into our analysis of a stock's performance?
*
Institutional funds are usually not allowed to trade ACE Market. There is also hardly any research analyst coverage for Ace. So it's more cowboy market of retail. Investors in ACE Market.

So, i am new to stock here. and kinda lazy to follow the stock news, i want to ask is there any broker or agent who can help you to invest in the stock?
*
A broker/remisier will provide you news update and research reports. You can also join some investor groups for ideas.

But u must know that stock trading does not jive with " kinda lazy" attitude. You are going to lose money.

how are the share prices affected by the bonus issue?

I feel like bonus issue and share split are more or less the same. sad.gif
*
Yes the same effect.. Total shareholder equity remains the same.

But funny thing after bonus issue, often price still go up with no reason, I think coz ppl remember the old price n think now it has become cheaper..

Want to ask sifus here regarding entitlement for stock's dividend.
Recently I bought Gamuda stock on 16/07/2019 and sell it off on 17/07/2019.
The EX Date for Gamuda is on the 18/07/2019. Do I still entitle for the dividend?

*
Nope.. U sold one day too early.

The "adjustment" is due to people selling? Or some other way?
*
Adjustment is done by BSKL.. This is like investor protection to make sure controlling shareholders don't try to cheat the public by paying themselves huge dividends, leaving the company 0 but holding up the share price.

Lol, of course same pocket. What i meant was if i have 5 lots at RM3, i will need to pump quite a lot to average it down based on the latest price (Rm2).

Instead, with a fresh account, i can buy at Rm2 and perhaps sell it off at Rm2.20. Quicker to make small profits, that's all.
*
Same money, no difference. U can have as many accounts as u like, u r not getting any richer.

But I guess if it makes u feel better then why not...haha

Im into power sector as well. Is malakoff a good growth stock in your opinion? Some other great ipp like ytlpowr seems to fetch a good price too
*
Actually Malakof problem was that it had a bad growth story. Malaysia doesn't need any more IPPs n one of the plant concession was ended and not renewed (PD Plant). So this had drag the price down significantly.

But I like its future plans. It's buying Alam Flora, it increased its stake in a big Saudi water production plant (took over from Khazanah), and its going into solar power generation. Waste management, water n renewable are good businessea to be in now. And its owned by Syed Mokhtar, who is close to PM.

Last year Malakof paid 5.6 Sen dividends, of which 2.1 Sen was the interim paid out in September. Current price is 89 Sen, giving a DY of 6.29% if it can maintain the dividends. My TP is RM1. 10 by end of next year..

Many IB and brokers here In Malaysia also offer HK and US Markets. It's a bit higher brokerage wise but if u r not so active trader, then it shouldn't be a big deal.

I know Hong Kong and US have Vietnam and Philippines ETFs which u can buy. This will give exposure to the market without having to study individual stocks.
