GG. Asian stocks (notably Malaysian stocks) suffered years of underperformance (except 2017). When things start to look a bit brighter with trade deal phase 1, a virus has a emerge and stocks stumble again.

Getting sick and tired of all this.

How do you guys deal with the stock and horror of having a significant part of your net worth destroyed? The recent years have been difficult.

Eh, you remember me?  Hell yes, I cut loss from my old portfolio. Huge loss.

I just started my new portfolio in Feb/March 2020. But I entered the market too early. Now bloodbath in my portfolio. -15.323%.  What to do? Life goes on.

First war chest finished to build my new portfolio. Now preparing my second war chest.  biggrin.gif

The more people pessimistic, no hope syndrome, then bottom is not too far away.

Virus won't stay forever. Vaccine will come out if the virus pandemic is prolonged.

So need to ride the storm for awhile.

Yet another red day for Malaysian stocks ... even the blue collar uncles who dabble in local stocks are concerned and cursing. GG lah.

My overall portfolio performance is ok ok coz it is very diversified with a few big multibagger winners like Nvidia,iFast, sunway-wb .... but I am weary of the years and years of underperformance in Bursa and HK stocks.

More and more, I think crypto, particularly bitcoin, is a better option compared to stocks.

I choose hk shares, but we can't deny the fact that majority of theinvestor/ trader still prefer us shares, gold and crypto coins.

I am grateful that Bursa is still somewhat defensive. Sold most of my Bursa stocks today (those still in profit or small loss), leaving only those in deep red.

Must honour stop loss when it is triggered if wanna survive to old age ... 3 crisises since 2020, how to buy and hold for long term?

Investing since 2020 is not that long experience wise.

Were u in the market during the start of the lockdowns in March 2020? I was. This tariff crash has the same panicky feel like back then.

Was buying back then, and am buying now..

Yes, I sold a big chunk of my stocks in March 2020 and use the cash to buy others stocks (of better quality than what I owned previously) using DCA from April 2020 to early 2021. Did alright.

Over the past 150 years, (US) stocks have entered bear-market territory about every 6 years on average. But in the past 5 years alone, there is 3 big stock market drops - Covid, Fed raising interest rates and now Orange Monkey wrecking the global economy. Exhausting.

Yeah, I saw in the news that retail investors are aggresively buying now, like in 2020, while some hedge funds have sold all stocks.

The Orange Moron just made a fresh threat to tariff pharma lah. That's why European and Indian pharma stocks drop today.

QUOTE(nauticat99 @ Apr 9 2025, 04:24 PM)
I think Trump’s may hold back on tariffs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical and critical minerals for now. The damage done to stock market and US economy is too huge, I doubt he would dare to create more upheaval. He put a hold on these industries for a reason in the first place and my guess is the reason is still there. Hence no way tariffs is going to be imposed on these industries. My two cents analysis.

A silver lining but (as I've seen before) panicking 'investors' don't care. Glad I exited more than half of my Bursa stocks this week ... though I didn't sell any US, HK,SG stocks.
