You can try my guide here (provided if you have Nero Burning Rom installed):

Convert AVI (DivX/XviD) to DVD, Using gui4ffmpeg & Nero Vision 4

Technically AVI cannot be play on normal DVD player unless that DVD player support DivX playback.

Nice moderator, still maintain the thread though it's a repeat topic tongue.gif

Since mod answered, I ask wanna ask for a favour..

I followed the guidelines step-by-step but my tmpegenc crashed on me half-way during conversion. Tried several settings but to no avail.

I have klite codec pack installed. Any obvious thing i've been missing?

Tq in advance. biggrin.gif

It seems I also have TMPGEnc crash (like you) on certain application (using bundled software). Best thing is to improvise by replacing it with a software which can do the similar job.

Here's the link http://www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc#problems

If the movie is DivX/XviD, here my trick :
  • Load movie into VirtualDubMod
  • Streams >> Stream List >> Save WAV
  • Load the WAV file into Audacity
  • Make the selection using the mouse (you can play the selection to confirm this)
  • File >> Export selection as MP3

Make sure you have lame_enc.dll (c:\windows\system32) since Audacity cannot export it directly.Check this under Preferences.

I'm having some trouble converting xvid format into divx format. When I try to convert certain videos, halfway through, my computer just goes off. Is it something wrong with codecs or is there something wrong with my power supply?

Your computer restarted?
Can be power supply problem or heat too high

This 1 should go to technical section
