Found a LG 55 OLED B8 for rm5999. Is it still worth getting?

Assuming it is not a display unit , sure .

Where did you find the deal ? The cheapest B8 I came across is still a bit under 7K , not too far away from the C8s.

Yup this is true. I just bought one from TBM DPulze Cyberjaya for RM5999. It is brand new TV.

RM5999 for LG B8. I bought it from TBM at Dpulze, Cyerberjaya. Only 4 units left!

It says " Event model " , which is a display unit .


Hard to say if its worth it or not , because we do not know what sort of " stress test " and demonstration patterns they have been running on the unit .
Since there is currently no way to determine how much of a lifespan left in the organic pixels from OLED , it may be more susceptible to the occurrence of burn Ins.

Which is also why we normally tell people to avoid it unless the price is substantially cheaper , like this in case .


It comes with risks , like most of everything in life do . As long as you are willing to bear the risks I guess that would be okay.

All event/display units usually loop the dolby vision trailers, HDR10 LG demo and SDR vs HDR demo. They're quite standard, none of them have any static images.

RM6k is a cheap enough price to deal with issues I think.

Haha happy with C8 after 6 months.

No major firmware update this year?

I checked the B8 at TBM TCM. The sales person there is from LG (not TBM). I did asked 3 times and he did mentioned is new unit.
There is a 65” C7 display unit with obvious burn-in there going for rm11k.
Am still considering it but not sure still have stock or not.

I also did asked the sales person about the "Event Modal" remark. He said that this is the few units that they have initially before the C8 came. They stop selling B8 once the C8 is in because the small price different.

The unit also sealed in the box is what make me believe that it is a new unit. I mean that's all I can judge to think it is a new unit.

Quality wise, it is SUPERB..! But need to play around with all the settings to get the right picture quality.

The reason I had doubts with the display units is because I've seen shops playing youtube's HDR Demo with the infamous black&yellow 4K UHD watermark located at topright.

If the sales guy at least take some precaution with TVs they wouldn't be doing that or maybe they just don't care .


Grats on your purchase and good to hear you enjoyed the TV , as long as the 2 years basic LG warranty is still available there should not be any problems .

The more people buying OLEDs , the better it is for many of us because LG can finally give the Malaysian market more priority , faster updates and better post sales services .
Sony has already shifted their focus of premium range onto the OLEDs and they aren't going to bring in the typical 65 - 55 inches premium LED-LCD TV anymore.
Philips have also joined the war by releasing their new OLED Razor lineup in Malaysia for the first time this year.

Good news is I've heard 2018 is the year where they (LG) have sold more OLED TVs than any other years in MY .

do you think I should wait for the C9 to come or get the C8 which will undoubtedly drop price when C9 comes out

10,400 myr at Harvey Norman. senq is 11k plus but they very smart give you 1k plus as cash back on second item. Still 10k

1)Harvey Norman's warranty is nearly 2k for the C8.

2)personally i don't see myself holding on to the TV for 5 years.

Ok Thx, didnt know theiyre so bad, always opt for their ext, so far no probs except for a Surface pro which konk after 2 yrs plus, but didnt bother to repair.
