I spoke to an LG engineer earlier today - particularly asking if Freesync as a future firmware update is possible on the 8 series OLEDs or not and he said, unfortunately "most probably not".

QUOTE(enkil @ Jun 13 2018, 09:12 PM) There is a 77" C8. The whole point for the 77" C8 to exist is so that people can buy a bigger OLED without paying an exorbitant amount of money for the W series. The W8 is pointless to me because the price is inclusion of the soundbar in addition to its design. The soundbar is absolutely useless for me considering my audio setup. Just want the best and biggest picture quality at a sane price point instead of all that extra fluff. |

I have been using my C7 for over a year as monitor, I haven't even got any burn in lol. Yes I do use some common sense like setting an automatic screensaver if there is no activity for over 15 minutes.
Lately I haven't even been giving much thought to "baby" my C7. Yes temporary image retention will happen from time to time, but permanent burn in? Unlikely unless you really try your hardest to do it. |

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Jun 19 2018, 03:16 PM) B7 basically is the same with C7, but in different shell? Yes, B7 is basically a C7 in a slightly different design. If you can get the B7 cheaper, go for that.many electronic stores are slashing price for the older model + zero GST the price are pretty tempting |

QUOTE(Convael @ Jun 20 2018, 08:53 AM) Yes , they use the exact same panel , only difference is the stand. According to this pretty in-depth Polish review, difference between the B8 and C8 is almost inconceivable. Not surprising because the B8 is basically a rebadged C7. Unfortunately this is not going to be the same case for this year's B8 . The upcoming B8 will use a less advanced a7 processor , compare to the C8 's a9 . I expect the B8 to be more affordable , but some minor drop in picture quality without some of the more advanced ( but not too useful ) feature found in the C8 / E8 / W8 Now the issue is, in the west the B8 is only $200 MSRP less than the a C8. Street prices would be even lower than that, so I don't see the point of the B8 at all either considering the price difference would be no more than RM1k here. |

QUOTE(shankar @ Jun 21 2018, 08:35 PM) A friend of mine is selling C7 65 for 10K less than 3 months old. He is leaving the country for good. TV is in good condition. If you ask me, C7 is unplayable for games due to the firmware that decreased brightness (and it's a lot) to preserve specular highlights in game mode. My C7 is un-updated, I've disconnected from the internet a long time ago and that's the only reason I'm still sticking with it.I read differences between C7 and C8. C8 65 can get for 15K now. I was nevering looking for this size Oled but now undecided. I play PS4 Pro games and movies. Is it worth buying C7 or buy C8 after price drop? I think you should go for the C8 instead. |

QUOTE(fadzly @ Jun 21 2018, 09:46 PM) same thing when B6 to C7. the rting said not much different. thus better get a b6 than getting a c8. LOL You need to take RTINGS reviews with a grain of salt lol. Anyone with half the knowledge of how displays work will laugh at RTINGS reviews.I personally went from an E6 to a C7 and the difference was significant enough to warrant the "upgrade". QUOTE(shankar @ Jun 22 2018, 12:06 PM) There is no problem with the C7 and its still under warranty. But seeing the other comment that C7 is not good for HDR gaming due to the firmware update (holds true on some feedback in google) is putting me off. My friend doens't play games and so might need to take my PS4 PRO to test it in his TV. I think you're going want to have some heavy drape curtains. Direct sunshine isn't good for OLEDs.Now my best location for a TV is a good 10 feet away and the sofa is behind a window with ample sunshine. TV screen will have direct sunshine. This is addressed by your comment earlier as this TV will still be good. I tested 10 feet on the 65 inch TV and they look great on 4K content. Infact for 4K content you can sit even closer to TV. But not sure whether I should go for a new C8 55 inch instead rather than 65 inch (C7 or C8) for my 10 feet. Since C7/ C8 is bezel-less 55 inch and 65 inch doens't look that big. Anyone using 65 inch C7/ C8 from 10 feet or little less and which content has lot of noise in the picture. My family watch some SD channels and may be they get upscaled but not sure how good it will be. I cannot test all this at my friends TV. I am on a 65" and I sit 6 ft. away lol. Immersion > all else. To me, this is the sweetspot for being able to appreciate the extra detail of 4k and upscaled 1080p content doesn't look like ass. That said, you have to figure out if you're one of those people who can get motion sickness from sitting that close or not (to be honest 6ft from 65" isn't even that close). |

QUOTE(Convael @ Jun 29 2018, 07:30 PM) Get the 65 inches if possible , it is a little brighter than the 55 inches . Especially after calibration . @boldedNormally I wouldn't care too much about a little brightness , but with Oled you will want every bit of brightness you can get because once the ABL starts to kick in , a lot of games and sport shows look really dark in comparison , even if the situation has improved from last year's model. And the 5% gray uniformity is also a more severe issue on the 55 inches , which can be quite distracting Are you sure about that? Screen uniformity is universally agreed and is statistically proven to be better on smaller panels. |

QUOTE(Convael @ Jun 29 2018, 09:59 PM) Normally yes While I never had a 55", this is interesting news to me. I've monitored a large majority of owners on the C7/B7 and B6 owners thread on AVSForum, they have shown their screen uniformity to be better than 65" owners. There are always more reports about 65" owners exchanging their sets than 55" owners. But the OLED screens have had this problem for a while ago , the near black uniformity particularly 3 or 5% have always been pretty bad. Back then it was just stripes and vertical lines , but it has been getting severe . Something like this . » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I have exchanged my 55 inches B7 twice because of this . The first one had a big patch of blackness botched at the center of the screen , the second exchanged one had the same problem but the dark spots were moved to corners . I have called LG but they don't think it is a defect either luckily HLK was nice enough to exchange it . I eventually give up and settled with the second one since the one I saw in their shop have similar problems . I know at least 3 others owner who have experienced this , our 65 inches seem to be fine with just lines and stripes but nothing as bad as a patch of darkness so far. I have seen the same thing happening on avforums, unfortunately this problem seems to be not so prominent among the reviewers since many of them use a bigger screen as review models. Rting 's review of 55 inches C8 briefly mentioned this as well in their gray uniformity test but they don't think it is too bad. Steve Withers reviewed a 65 inches and found no problems with it . This can be pretty distracting sometimes , such as Marco Polo where there are a lot of near black scenes . They are nevertheless more of a nuisance than any major defects. I'll be calibrating a 55" C7 next week, I'm going to look into this. |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jul 8 2018, 02:31 AM) Reporting in with the C8T 65" 1) Lower OLED light.Several questions if you guys don't mind 1) Any way to reduce the brightness of the subtitles? 2) The technicolor colour preset is kinda awesome but have to dial down the brightness a little bit? Also, what's the difference between OLED Light and brightness? Seems similar to me.. 2) Brightness is contrast, OLED light is backlight aka luminence output. For SDR, you should lower your OLED light in accordance to your room's lighting. I've found that having at around 40-60 for most moderately lit rooms seems to be the sweet spot for most users. I personally have mine at 35 because my room is dim most of the time and also to minimize ABL fluctuations (which is much more noticeable in a dim or dark room). For HDR, it is default at 100 and that's where it should be. |

QUOTE(Tia87 @ Jul 17 2018, 04:52 PM) I called best denki klcc just now, they said thats the price... I dont know if he misquote me or something, but that was the price Then if it isn't a display unit, you better go snag it before they remove the promotion. 65" C8 under 10k for a new set is a very good deal. |

QUOTE(invisiblelim @ Jul 19 2018, 03:20 PM) Hi.. would like to check with you guys, will you guy opt for the extended warranty program offered like SenHeng, TBM or Harvey Norman for your C8? I didn't and I won't.But I do know a guy who had a B6 and it got bricked when flashing firmware. He had an extended warranty with HN and they replaced his set with an entirely new C7. That was last year. So I guess, it's not so bad? |
