I see... like the B6 case you shared, if he didn't buy the Extended Warranty, then it could have to purchase a brand new C7 which cost like 8-9K at that time, right?

I still wondering whether to get the extended warranty or not.. as the cost is not cheap...
*
Life is full of 50/50s. If nothing happened, then the extended warranty is basically for nothing. For the retailer, it's easy pocket money because the amount for replacements simply doesn't exceed the blind profits they get from extended warranty buy-ins.

It's up to you if you want that "peace of mind". Keep in mind, it's Malaysia and it's case by case basis. I don't think extended warranties guarantees that you'd get a new model if your current model is fixable which is usually subjected to availability of parts and also the proper expertise to fix a specific issue.

Why? Wall mount ok ma
*
Sticks out like a sore thumb unfortunately. The great thing about OLEDs is because it's suppose to be so thin that it dissapears into the wall in a dark room, further boosting the perception of "infinite contrast". The LG W8 in a completely pitch black room is a sight to behold.

Anyone knows if LG ( or other brand ) can play files from hdd > 2 Tb ?

I want to buy those 4 Tb external hdd just for video playback but  I’ve read some report that it can’t be played I.e tv won’t recognize the drive.
If some owner able to play it appreciate to update here , tq
*
As long as it's formatted as NTFS, 4TB drives will work.

Although honestly speaking, I suggest you get a dedicated player instead if you are going to be watching movies long term using HDD.

no. but if u worried about burn in issue, avoid oled at all cost.

we, Oled user knew the fact it will burn if long run with static images

what we did to avoid burn in

1) dont buy display unit

2) dont watch astro/national tvs, go for netflix, amazon prime, directv/sling tv instead.
another extra tips if u want to

1) put the tv at less watch place. For example, put inside room rather than living room as u will only use it at night to watch movies. but normal lcd tvs at the living room instead.

2) play more games rather than watching movies/tv

and you are welcome
*
Disagree on the bolded one though. I use my C7 as a display to play more games than watch movies, it is my primary display for reviewing games in fact. Burn-in hasn't occurred after over 1 year of abuse.

? Ive stated play more games la.. your points seems supporting my points.

Play games more than watching movie/tv
*
You made it sound confusing then because you grouped games after saying "put the tv at less watch place. For example, put inside room rather than living room as u will only use it at night to watch movies. but normal lcd tvs at the living room instead."

How are you guys watching Dolby Vision stuff on the C8? Disc? AppleTV 4K? So far, I got Netflix only.
*
Disc only right now. I don't really like streaming.

For HTPC, Dolby Vision should be able to pass through with madVR soon (madshi is working on it).

What are the disc players that are available here besides the Oppo? I tried googling and I found an LG player, but can’t seem to find it anywhere online for purchase. More like trying to see the price of it la.
*
Xbox One S/X. But Dolby Vision update for UHD disc isn't out yet.

The Sony UBP-x700 also supports Dolby Vision and it's fairly cheap in comparison to other flagship UHD players. I don't really like it though because it's a hassle to use.

I remember reading somewhere that the Sony player can only output DV to a Sony TV.

Hahahah. Wanna look for a disc player also so hard. Oh well. Wait for Madvr only la. Do you know what’s the progress like?
*
Whenever Nvidia and Microsoft gets their shit together to properly make HDR just work, without issues. Madshi might not even implement DV at all, depending on the situation - if there's enough DV demand or not. At the moment, the support is increasing but HDR10 is to many people "good enough".

The bigger problem is not passing through Dolby Vision metadata, it's that a digital video file cannot be put into a container (mkv) while retaining DV metadata even if it's just a remux. The file needs to be in its original M2TS BDMV file or just a packaged ISO.

Anyways, let's not derail this thread anymore.

Protip; if you use a HTPC for movies, you SHOULD disable MPEG noise reduction on the TV but instead use MadVR to smooth out gradient/posterization.

anybody manage to get a last minute deal below 8k in klang valley ?
thy hin in seremban selling at 8k + free soundbar model SK1. doesnt sound like a good deal
*
About as good as a deal you'll get, but the TV and sell off the soundbar. You probably won't see a deal like this again until near end of the year or sometime next year after CES.

*EDIT*
Apparently the 55" B8 is being sold for RM7.5k - https://www.11street.my/productdetail/lg-55...-55b8p-67183877

This isn't a bad deal at all. It's really not that much worse than the C8 either unless you really, REALLY want that smooth gradation feature.

It's almost like a crime if you get one of the best displays ever produced and you don't at least put half of what you spent on a sound setup. Sound is equally if not more important than visuals - it's harder to convince people because sound is a lot more subjective than visuals.

OLEDs can flex to a certain point. You just have to avoid pressing the panel with pressure.

1.3k for AVR, 1.5k for a pair of good bookshelves.

I still don't understand why people die die also wanna spend 2k+ for a soundbar. Few hundred more and the experience is basically night and day.

Well, well, well. Looks like the latest C8/E8 firmware (4.10.05) has also introduced aggressive ABL algorithm just like the Sony AF8 and last year's C7 (which has been given a FW update this year to revert back to pre-aggressive ABL).

Pretty much means C8/E8 is pointless for gaming now.

B8 is not affected, but it's only a matter of time when the next firmware hits.

Anyone know if this is the lowest price in JB? https://www.senheng.com.my/lg-55-inch-b8-ol...v-lg-55b8p.html
I'm actually coming from Singapore to purchase it as the price is a LOT cheaper plus there is a free soundbar. Free soundbar still available? Seems like it's only until 31 Oct.
*
Dude, the soundbar is not redeemed on the spot. You'll only get it a couple weeks later and has to be delivered to a valid address.

Yeah I can use my friend's address in Malaysia so no worries about that. On another note, are the burn in issues real? I've heard ppl saying that after 3-4 years the colors are less bright etc too. Rtings is doing a oled test and it doesn't look too good.
*
The soundbar redemption is already over IINM, but LG being LG - they're just gonna keep doing FOC soundbars anyway. It's not even a "promotion" anymore.

Yes burn-in issues are real. It's part and parcel of OLEDs, no 2 ways around that. But when or how it happens entirely depends on the usage of the user. I'm still on my 18 months old C7 and I've yet to have any sign of burn-in, I use it as an all round display for PC, gaming and movies. Temporary IR, definitely. But if a user says they've never had temporary IR then they'd be lying through their bunghole or they don't even have an OLED in the first place.

For the individual pixels themselves losing brightness (and there fore vibrancy), yes - that too will happen. But for me, I vary my content so much that I'm very certain that every pixel on my C7 are aged pretty close to another - so even on test check patterns, I don't see much variation. I know people who uses their OLEDs to watch only letterboxed movies and after a long while, they'd be surprised to see the top and bottom part of their screens being brighter than the middle part of the screen on a full screen. Point being, just vary your content.

Hi, I was curious about the burn-in myself and I thought back in April you said your TV was 8 months old but now in November (just after 7 months) it's already 18 months old?
*
Obvious typo bro. The C7 hasn't even been out for 18 months yet in Malaysia. My bad.

Credit where it's due yes, but isn't the color gamut on the C8 (well entire 8 series) in game mode still locked to "Wide"? How in the world haven't they do anything about this?

RM6999 does seem tempting. Might jump on it for a bedroom TV.

Implementation of several HDMI 2.1 features (not fully) like VRR is IMO a HUGE change for any gamer though if you ask me.
