I do not mean to insult. I am just trying to understand.

I want to know, what do people mean by "accuracy". Because I read people saying the Panasonic are more natural (some describe as dull) but less pop than LG. Using Panasonic and LG as example. Is accuracy means more natural or does it means more pop?
*
Accuracy means to calibrate a display to an industry standard where movies are graded and mastered. If your display is calibrated to that standard, then that means it is accurate to the creator's vision of the movie because the creator FOLLOWS the standards set and agreed by the industry.

It's not suka suka more pop or less dull. Read up on color standards the movie industry uses, you will understand.

Uhm, you can still do that. You buy, you switch on, you watch. Calibration is for people who care about accuracy. If you don't care, then whatever. Just watch and don't complain if you see whites being blue or greens looking like yellows.

What if I told you in the old days, displays were much more inaccurate than what it is now?

No need think too complicated. Just buy any oled tv . You will like it once you get used to the tv. May be you like to use standard mode to enjoy your regular tv content. That's why LG give so many picture mode & setting for consumer to choose. IF not they just give one filmmaker mode to consumer only. This nothing wrong, You are the one to paid the tv. Anyway , Actually Lg c9 & panasonic GZ1000 got auto-calibration feature. You can buy meter & software form calman website, follow step by step , DIY auto calibration by software.

Hi all,

I own a C8 and it is interesting to see all the discussion on colour picture calibration. For me I am more like plug and play guy and when I bought the TV last year, I followed some of the gurus advice here and over rting on the picture setting. Since I watch mostly live TV and YouTube and Netflix only, I find the warm setting too yellowish for me. In the end I just set to neutral and tempted to go Cool. My Sony previously I use cool. Not sure if it is my eyes or what, ever since my c8 broke down and changed with a new c8 oled panel early this year, I find the picture better despite same setting. Anyway I use Cinema setting with neutral instead of warm 1 or 2.

Sorry for another post asking for advice here, I plan to buy a sound bar soon to go with my C8. Thinking of going for LG Sl10y around 3.5k or Yamaha 209 budget around 1.5k.

Any advice and does it help I buy LG tv with LG speaker? Apart for remote control I don't know if got any other added advantage. Strangely LG sl10y doesn't support eARC, so not sure if it can support fully Netflix dolby atmos. Yamaha one doesn't support atmos.

Thanks much for your advice.

It took a couple of weeks as I am from JB and they first changed the back panel, only then change the front panel OLED. For your case it shouldn't matter since they approve the change already. Even if no stock they should honor the replacement. Hope you get the latest C9 panel, I got C8 written on the box.

BTW just curious, how do you prove dead pixel? My Sony TV has one clear dead pixel, my eyes not good enough to scan through since the tv is seldom used. How do you prove it?

why need to change back panel?

LG authorise service agent says LG got stock for c8 panel, so dont think i can get c9. they said c9 panel doesnt work on c8 tv. same goes to c6,c7
you can play the video from youtube, test burn in. it will display red, blue, green, white full screen. you can see from there.
i took picture of the 3 dead pixel

Generally speaking;

Warm 2 - 6000k
Warm 1 - 6900k
Neutral - 7300k
Cool - 7500k

There are of course some variance from panels to panels, but that's generally what the color temperature is like for the modes. None of the modes are correct actually, "warm 2" is chosen as the most accurate color temp because it is the closest to D65.

People find Warm 1 or even Neutral more pleasing and some might say, more "natural" to the eyes is because human eyes has gotten too used to all the shitty screens that is blaring at our faces everyday.

Netflix gives you lossy DD+ where Atmos is slipstreamed into it. eARC is not needed for that. Regular ARC has enough bandwidth for it.

That brings me to the next issue - why waste of money for that sound bar when Netflix isn't even giving you lossless audio in the first place? If you're dead set on a soundbar, get one that gives you the best 2.1 experience instead. If you want to experience Atmos, do it right - proper ceiling mounted speakers. Otherwise you're just wasting money on a piece of sticker.

If you're talking about eARC itself, then HDMI 2.0 is enough - HDMI 2.1 is not needed. However support must be enabled on the HDMI 2.0 device to enable eARC compatibility.

If you're asking if lossless Dolby Atmos requires HDMI 2.0 through blu-ray, then no. HDMI 1.3 was enough. HDMI 1.4 was needed only if you want to use ARC which would then limit Atmos to lossy Dolby Digital+.

Hmm I don't test the pixel, maybe one day if I spot obvious one before my warranty runs out I will do it. Sometimes just dust... My TV got problem, cannot power up. At first they suspect is back panel issue. Change doesn't work so front change too, resulting in few weeks of delay.

Thank you for your advice. I guess I will go with Yamaha 209 then. Save 1k plus. Originally wanted to get LG for the surround effect since now they are giving the rear speaker too for the 7.1 experience.

Guys, is there no way to make arc works on this tv? I can only make it works if I disconnect all other hdmi devices. Recent tv update also didn’t solve the problem

Netflix movie with atmos play on TV that support atmos but with only ARC > LG sk8 with atmos

Hdmi 1.4 should work? Only can get digital dolby +?

Yes only HDMI 1.4 is required for ARC to work.

But the SK8 only has 2 drivers, it can't even do real Atmos. It's fake Atmos by using height virtualization, that is worse than the upfiring speakers which is already trash to begin with.

Both on Standard Setting.

My old Panasonic plasma looks more natural to me than the LG C9. Only by switching the C9 over to Cinema does it look natural to me.

Hi, do you guys usually watch the C9 in pitch dark rooms? Looks amazing but not sure it would be good for the eyes if you do it too often

Noted on your advice, atmost on 2 drivers worst
Up firing better
Speaker at ceiling best

Sk8 comes free with C8 TV. I just use.
Not buying.
