that may not hv anything to do with streamyx.

youtube... do u mean the 1080p stream is lagging or the 1080p does not show up for u to select?
not all videos have 1080p or 720p selection, some are as low as 360p.

also, depending on which version of u-tube, some smart tv's or device may not deliver >702p.
*
The movies on netflix that i watched has 1080.
I am the only user, PC idling there, no updating and downloading but my TV (latest firmware) still cant consistently stream at 1080p.
Still remembered that last year youtube surfing at 720p has no problem, but since this year even 720p still need buffering most of the time! puke.gif

I'm on screamyx 8mb

previously no issue at all watching full HD videos on my smartTV's youtube apps

only recently it started, SD quality on youtube, netflix even worst, smartDNS basically make things worse to constant 240p quality, or keep on seeing the buffering screen doh.gif
service only improve a bit after switching back to google DNS, at least I can get 1080 occasionally, but the quality are still erratic doh.gif

reboot router, change router, doesn't solve the issue, so yeah, pretty sure it's telekom's fault as speedtest result are not constantly stable as well... mad.gif

Good to know that there's a workaround for Unifi too! rclxms.gif

For those unshackled by VPN/DNS do check out the FlixSearch app as it will list down the Netflix Region(s) any particular show can be found in.
After that, its just a matter of switching to that region and getting out the popcorn. thumbup.gif

i am also facing streaming quality issue. It used to stream in 1080P without problem. i think it is caused by the faulty underwater submarine cable.

it started giving problem after the TM announced the faulty underwater submarine cable.

And also i keep seeing you guys mentioned about netflix us and canada. How to switch to that? Need android box?

Content is identical for either trial or paid subscription..

Switching regions requires a DNS/VPN service.. You don't need an android box for that as long as your TV accepts custom DNS settings.. Read the thread for more information.. It's all in here.

Subtitle languages depend on availability per media title and not regions. So, Yes..

for netflix, smart tv is better - it can do hd for 1080p tv and uhd if tv is 4k.

android boxes... common boxes can only do sd, not even hd. besides nvidia shield and amazon fire tv which are netflix certified.

this is the thing... if u do not pay for a reliable and workable vpn/dns, u can't get the good stuff.

local content is not good enough for the price charged, imo.

i had a couple of good months but stopped now, see if the content will improve.

but that does stop me from watching netflix originals in 1080p.

house of cards s04 and daredevil s02 - both excellent, enjoyed them tremendously. thumbup.gif

I believe having Nvidia Shield or Amazon Fire TV Android boxes alone is not enough for Netflix 4K. Your TV's HDMI need to support HDCP 2.2.

I have both in my NAS already. HOC S04 in 2160p and DD S02 in 1080p cool2.gif But with only a 1080p TV to watch. cry.gif

Is DD S02 in 2160p? I only have 2160p version of S01.

Anyway, Kodi in my Nvidia Sheild plays the 4K material from my NAS with no hickups. Just not enough time to sit down and watch.

I don't know if it's correct or not but Kodi says the playback resolution is 4K. Just recently watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny in 4K. Not bad.

Many things off limits already... But the TV unfortunately fall in the purvue of one of the home minister as she uses it more than I do. So if the home minister thinks there is no need to upgrade, then budget not approved. laugh.gif

I found out the hard way when I added the Yamaha soundbar last year... I told her how she always complains about not being able to hear conversations clearly from the TV and that the soundbar would be the solution. Of course it took a while convincing but when she heard how better the sound was, she just kept quiet. It also helped that pointed to her how cheap I got it from the Yamaha warehouse sale and I guess she conceded that it was a "necessary" buy.

So the same kind of reasons would need to come into play to get a 4K TV. bangwall.gif
