QUOTE(GHOSTVIC @ Apr 17 2019, 11:27 PM) Bro.. just had my 100mbps unifi and subscribed for netflix which is free for 1st month.. Let's discuss about Netflix here..But i see not so outstanding collection.. even i tried to search some old movies not able to find.. example LOTR,HOBBITS cannot be found I thought it works better than free apps i used to watch movies where hell of collection old movies example popcorn.. But NETFLIX... is it different country has different collection and restrictions ? I thought NETFLIX TV APP has issues, so downloaded app in my mobile and did searching yet same those movies cannot be found. Another thing i tried to play UHD 4K movies but in my smart tv not full resolution, the screen not stretched even setting is 16:9 Most of the UHD 4K OR HDR movies not full stretched.. I even called NETFLIX support service, they claimed it depends on title and not all movies will.play full screen is that true ? Checked the profile setting in mobile app anything related to the quality, since in TV NETFLIX no much settings. Just basic. So in mobile app, checked the profile and changed from auto to high quality but no difference. Below are the example on HDR & ULTRA HD 4K, title saying so but i have no idea whether the movie playing HDR/UHD4K. Puzzle ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() *When free try to read up about aspect ratios as that would explain the black bars appearance or lack of. You see, the top and bottom bars or better known as "footage padding" is referred to as Letterboxing. While if it's padding on the left and right, known as Pillarboxing. Pillar boxing is more commonly seen when much older SD content is displayed on modern (native) 16:9 HD/FHD/UHD displays. So... *Yes, Netflix CS was right.. As it does depend on the title and if it supports (or finalized for public consumption) fullscreen on HD & above screens or not. You'll notice the same when watching certain movies in the cinemas as well. Or a today's documentary with old footage being shown.. The padding must be adding in to maintain a certain and visually appealing ration when watched. That's why you can see the Netflix app (TV or otherwise) is able to utilize the whole screen for it's UI..but playback view depends on the title. Some modern titles will have full-screen view..Try with some Netflix Originals. This is all normal. *Netflix will only show content they have license for and yes, it's region dependent. Some titles, you must do something extra in order to access them.. As we discussed before. But even then, It's impossible (for now) that they have streaming rights to every single movie, even just the recent ones. Streaming is the future and Big Media is only just catching up and they too want a piece of the pie. Take Disney, they want to setup their service (Disney Plus or whatever) and so they are pulling their titles from Netflix. You get the gist. *Lastly, for initial start, Netflix usually won't start at full UHD.. Depends on the strength of your connection and that to their servers or nearest CDNs.. It could start from SD res and how fast it ramps up to full UHD HDR...and stays there till the end.. on and on..? really depends on the above and setting as below..Just log on via browser and visit your account settings..Setup as below image...It should apply to all logged on certified devices.. |

QUOTE(GHOSTVIC @ Apr 19 2019, 08:04 PM) Yes bro you correct.. i tested netflix movies Those are bitrate numbers, NOT streaming speed.... Which is why even for the same res, there are fluctuations between titles.. And yes, as i explained earlier.. Depending on circumstances, it can start much lower and ramp up as it sees fit or it starts off at FHD/UHD.. The latter typically happens if there's enough buffer...for continued playback of the next episode in a series.Found the bandwidth usage increases gradually once playing the movie and stops there after for HD 1080 and 4k uhd 2160 / HDR resolution.. some HDR plays in 1080 some in 2160 for 2160p it takes 15.25mbps 1080p takes from 4mbps to 6mbps ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(GHOSTVIC @ Apr 20 2019, 12:35 AM) pening already... ya was reading it brother That's just about right.. Because it's a streaming service, it can't actually push full/high bitrate 4K..heck not even high bitrate 1080p content. That would be too tasking for the average internet user. Which will cost then subscribers and means less money. So we know, their 4K isn't true 4K. Which is why, Bluray remains king. I've seen a typical 2hr movie file reach 40GB...for just the video stream and a single audio stream. ISPs worldwide will just crumble or end up charging us more and or throttling.. We don't want that.. So Netflix says they use about 7GB per hour for UHD content. So could be less or higher. However, I believe that most who sub to the UHD plan, also know to sub an unlimited quota internet plan. Else, one weekend binge watching session alone and one can burn through over 100GB quota.. Just like that.https://www.howtogeek.com/338983/how-much-d...es-netflix-use/ ya i even thought about why, speed is 100mbps but stops at 15mbps for 2160 streaming. hahaha so the 15mbps 4k streaming, consistent stable connection consumes 13.7gb for 2 hours movie.. that means if the bitrate go higher, the movie must be consuming more data and the quality will be greater.. so if any broadband comes with limited data, should set the playback quality to low ? so the saying of "minimum 25mbps needed to stream 4KUHD movies", is actually pointing to total bandwidth speed ? Calculate file size 2 hours * 15.25 Mbps = 2 hours * 1.91 MB/s = 13.7 GB |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Apr 20 2019, 10:41 AM) right... that's how they do biz, get enough subscribers for high squeezed streaming. I completely agree.. Keeping my account for donkey years is primarily due to their original production, the ease of access to titles and navigation. Waifu is able to navigate Netflix and YouTube apps on the TV far easier than even UnifiTV remote.. Android box? Despite the years.. Never seen her fire it up for use.. Only time it's in use is when I'm around and then we can watch stuff.. Else, nope.. TV apps strictly. As long as she happy.. Pay lor.. qualitywise, only the less discerning can't tell. which is why i don't even want to watch on netflix when i get get a better alternative for certain titles. netflix is great for convenience and easy use for the whole family. not the best choice if u go for high quality video and audio, assuming u have the equipment, of course. correct. now compare that to a 4k hdr atmos/dtsx bluray disc or equivalent of 80gb. the bit rate works out to be 88 mbps - 5-6 times higher - u can already imagine the diff. in other words, u r doing a disservice to yr tv (and good audio system) if u rely on netlfix! QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Apr 20 2019, 12:45 PM) Actually I only watch Netflix for TV series (origin or not origin) and some Netflix origin movie, others movies not origin from Netflix is all HD and 5.1 DD+ only where I don't watch either. If the above still doesn't work? You might have to reset the Smart Hub.. This will definitely clear out any buggy remnants. This post has been edited by voncrane: May 31 2019, 10:10 PM |

QUOTE(miyakochan89 @ Jul 11 2019, 11:27 PM) Hey all. I'm having problem casting Netflix from my iPad to my Smart TV (using Sony Bravia). It just opens up the default Netflix app on TV and stop at the profile selection screen. The thing is I don't wanna use the native TV app cause the wifi on TV is slow, I just wanna cast it from my iPad, and also it's easier to just browse movie from there. Is this affecting only Bravia TVs? That's how the casting feature works.. Tablet casts to TVs or other device and that device takes over. You aren't streaming from the tablet and can't. Even if you buy a Chromecast and your Wi-Fi network is poor, you'll still get poor streaming results. If Wi-Fi is the issue, why not run an ethernet cable directly from your router to the TV and see an improvement.. Using the TV app is almost always superior to any other means. |

QUOTE(miyakochan89 @ Jul 14 2019, 02:39 PM) Is it possible to use USB wifi adapter with TV though? Haha.. I strongly doubt that is possible. Reading thru and the issue isn't buffering or not enough bandwidth to ramp up to say UHD res. But that something somewhere isn't right during casting. I'm going to assume you've tried casting using different devices connected on the same network? TV's definitely the culprit here. How about YouTube casting, does that work proper? If my TV can receive 5GHZ wifi, might be faster. haha. |

QUOTE(GHOSTVIC @ Jul 15 2019, 09:47 PM) ![]() How are you brothers ? just on curiosity we streaming from netflix server outside of malaysia or its located locally ? Pass 2 months i observered speedtest in netflix tv app did show above 90%.. But this month begining i noticed the speed result from netflix app not consistent. However speedtest from Tmnet, ookla shows result 80 to 90mb.. I observed the content streaming in netflix the video rate takes time to reach the optimum.. Example HD content stops at 3.31mbps/1080 2160 4k content.. stops.at 11mbps , before this same video can reach 15.36mbps.. When the movie played the bitrate takes time to reach the optimum level, infact i never seen such lagging.. I am not sure this is due to my bandwidth fluctuation or netflix server streaming content itself. I did complained to UNIFI, they claimed speedtest result in browser are fine no issue and this could be streaming server itself. They did reset my port remotely but still same lag. I did reported to NETFLIX support team they claimed all good and pointing to ISP. Is there any chance Tm unifi throttle bandwidth for netflix streaming ? Is anyone experiancing this kind of issue ? How to address this kind matter, bandwidth issue or netflix server issue ? Unifi 100mbps Wireless router dlink DIR-842 c2 Rj45 cable connection and wireless 5G connection both seems same lag. However speedtest in website looks fine. Does it really reliable as it is just testing nearby servers in local or nearby *Content Delivery Network (CDNs) *Open Connect Appliances (OCAs) *Internet Exchange Points *Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and their Data Centers *Internet Interconnection Locations... Then we also have streaming device, bandwidth, cables and all between. Heck, Netflix even has a short list of best TVs to experience their service on..So yep, all TV's which can run Netflix aren't all created equally. Basically from Netflix down to your screen. For the ultimate experience, everything has to be in tip top shape..To the average person, most of these matter less.. Now onto your question, qualifying ISPs are given the same OCAs as present at Netflix's internet interconnection locations (strategically located places that serve users in the region...). This allows faster and more stable streaming of content. Generally ISPs in countries with medium to high consumption will take advantage of this. It's basically storing Netflix content (fast large servers...bla bla) at the ISP's data center and so when users request to stream a title, the app doesn't actually travel through the internet per se, but is simply connected to the ISP's data centers and voila, instant streaming and rapid ramp up. Those ISPs without OCAs have to be routed to the nearest IIL/IEP as per the region, and stream from that. So you can see... It's hard to exactly pinpoint where the issue might arise from.. Technically, not hard la.. But IMO, since you are still getting good results, neither TM nor Netflix will be fast to accept it's their fault. QUOTE(miyakochan89 @ Jul 17 2019, 01:29 PM) Hey all, how long does it take for Netflix to include new season? The show that I'm watching, the season 4 just ended in May. But I don't see it on Netflix yet. This depends on the content creators and or owners.. if it's a Netflix original, then it will be a shorter time as Netflix doesn't have to wait until the content has completed airing on regular TV channels and or the cinemas (as is often the case with content they don't own and or have joint rights to release at same time). Also since a season finished in May, which is just 2 months ago.. Hey, relax some more la.. Acting, shooting and making content as final production takes hard work and requires much longer than 2 months to complete. I mean, you do want a good show right? and not some Sharknadon't reproduction.. |

QUOTE(GHOSTVIC @ Jul 21 2019, 12:30 AM) Thanks for the reply brother... Sure.. I can relate to that..Netflix is a great streaming service and should only get better with time and as our average internet speeds are more stable and increased. So until then and for such cases, I just wait for the Blu-ray version instead. You get proper high bitrate 4K HDR playback. When i fixed my mind for hdr or 4k content bit rate should be optimum in short duration time , if i observe it takes time to reach or drops while playing really bothers me alot.. |

Nearby server test giving good result but when play netflix speed drops. They seems reluctant to take further action. 10 days after complain still no action. In addition to what AVFAN has suggested.. Use a different device and test it's speeds to Netflix's servers. Same or different from that of the TV? |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jul 25 2019, 06:27 PM) there is a tv series available on netflix... Diriliş: Ertuğrul While it interests me.. However, 70 episodes per season? started in 2014... season 5 just completed... but only first 4 seasons in netflix... i hope season 5 will come soon. a very long drawn historical fiction drama-thriller. every season is >70 epis long, 42 mins per epi. i'm done with season 1, 2... boy, it was long... but interesting enough.. will continue. factual history has little record of the main character Ertugrul... but it is great to watch how he was depicted in the 13th century. a time when the turkmen tribes of anatolia (current day turkey) were under siege from the byzantine empire in the west and the mongols in the north. the perils of betrayal, spies, infighting vs the strengths of loyalty, heroism, spiritual strength. of course, we know the ottoman empire eventually emerged to change the landscape of the east-west wars over territory and jerusalem for the next few hundred years. then, WWI, WWII... and what we see today in modern turkey. an interesting way to catch up with history if u like.... i'm not a historian but i can follow much of what is being shown and illustrated in this series. apparently it has been the most followed tv series on central asia and the middle east. a recommendation to anyone interested in turkish-central asian history. 3.5/5. |

QUOTE(GHOSTVIC @ Jul 31 2019, 12:44 AM) Finally the technician arrived to check my unifi quality. They fixed tester at my end and at dp box. According to them my signal loss very low. That means fiber cabling perfectly done. Unfortunately, after reading all you've done, etc.. It does appear to be an issue with your line connecting and maintaining a stable fast connection with Netflix's servers. Also seems like not much you can do except to keep complaining and hoping TM does sort it out on their end and makes good to your place.Surprisingly at noon i did speedtest infront of them about 5 times all result hit 90Mbps. According to them even though its broadband we still sharing with rest subscribers, if users get increased the bandwidth utilization become higher and we see drops. Basically the broadband is not dedicated line. If TM allocate 2Gbps for the exchange it will be shared to rest of the users. So no solution unless more complains on low speed due to insufficeint of bandwidth, TM need to increase. [attachmentid=10293543] Im watching "Moneyheist" which i got addicted now. What i noticed is the series stated as 4k ultra HD. But when play it the resolution is always 3.83mbps/1080. I quickly checked other 4k content all stops at 15+mbps. I wonder why moneyheist just stops at 1080 when the content stated as 4k. I reported to netflix not to put wrong info.. Can you guys play that series and check if seeing same as me. It plays in 1080 or 2160.. Lastly, Yep.. Money Heist or as I prefer it to have been called "La casa de papel" is really good stuff.. I haven't seen the S03 yet. Looking forward to it. QUOTE(funnyTONE @ Jul 31 2019, 09:54 AM) Question: if I bought Netflix gift card off 7eleven, is the value applicsble to just one-off payment? There will be a remaining balance. Usually, better to pay with card as exact amounts will be deducted automatically.. But if really no choice and you prefer the GC route? then you have to make sure there's always sufficient balance for the service to deduct when the time comes. Else, service will be interrupted. Then you have to head out an buy another GC to enter on the site.E.g. gift card worth RM100 deduct family plan for July RM51. So will there be a remaining balance or will it be gone?
