I'm planning to get a job there but im not sure whether it will be permanant
*
if it's not permanent yet based on your planning then it's best not to cancel it until you've probably started working 3 - 6 months and felt that you'll no longer need Malaysia insurance then you may consider again to cancel it.

One more question, let say I have an accident or illness in Singapore, and I admitted to their hospital for temporary treatment, if I return to Malaysia for my returning treatment is it still claimable?
*
If it's a follow up treatment, will be covered as post hospitalization treatment

Hi all, would appreciate some comments here even though I've got someone quoted me already.

Looking for a medical insurance for my baby, the agent recommended ILP instead of standalone medical card.

He's a GE agent, therefore recommended me the following plan:

SmartProtect Essential Insurance 2: RM2400 (RM200/month)
- Life: RM50k
with the following riders:
- IL CIBR: RM50k
- SMX150
- SMX150-99
- SE90K
- SE90K-99
- IL PWE
- IL PBE

I had a feeling that the riders might be too much but he told me that it's good to have all those in as the premium is not much. Since my main objective is to have a backup medical plan (my wife is a government servant, so most likely we'll be going to government hospitals if anything).

Therefore would like to seek a second opinion here, especially if any GE agents here can give some advises.

Thanks in advance.

Since your wife is a government servant thus your family might enjoy free medical benefit albeit only at government hospitals

If that's the case, having a basic medical card will be good for you to have an option to pay for specialist fee to expedite on the medical treatment

You may add on waiver premium if you want to have worry free about your child policy in case you pass away w hike your baby's is growing up and the insurance company will take over the premium payment until certain age.

End of the day it still depends on the proper planning with the life planner as each plan has its own benefit.

I don't know about other insurance company in their claim policy but as for AIA last I've checked is if you're charged in SGD they will reimbursed full in SGD no matter the cost could be cheaper in Malaysia for the same treatment.

Hope this is clear.

just surrendered my insurance policy today. was asked 5 times by the exec if I knew what I am about to do and whether my agent knows about it. I said yes 5 times.

I do not advocate everyone to follow my footsteps but the trust between my agent and I have been broken and I rather lose my insurance than deal with her.

Total spent on insurance since 2014 is MYR 9000. total received upon surrendering myr 3220.

for 54 yrs old male, take medical insurance or medical card?
*
it depends on your budget, if you can afford it, you can consider a full insurance plan which covers until until you're age 80. Otherwise, if budget is restricted then a standalone card will be much more advisable but you'll have to consider in the future on the increasing cost.

good conversation. I have a father who does not have a medical coverage and is a heavy smoker. there are nights I lose sleep when I see him getting old and I am not sure if I can afford medical cost for him and no insurers would want to cover him.

Well only if I pump in alot of money. he is 59 years old this year
*
well if he's 59 and still healthy then I don't see an issue to get a medical card.

Value of money is self perception

Nike might be value money to me, you might like Adidas because of familiarity or branding or maybe you thought it's cheaper.

20% co insurance, definitely will be cheap but you'll fork out more than you save for the premium if it's a major surgery

Hi all,

I am a Malaysian and married to a Vietnamese wife. I am looking for insurance for my wife protection. BTW, she is a full time housewife.
I heard ppl saying that my wife will not benefit the same coverage as for Malaysian, is that true?If true, can I know what are the "EXCLUSION" for my wife as compared to a Malaysian?

Thank You.
*
No such things as "exclusion" just because she's a foreigner. Since she's married to you, it'll be easier for her to apply the insurance.

Is there medical cards that provide dental coverage (e.g. dentures, scaling, braces)?
*
Not really, those are consider cosmetic procedure.

Insurance will only cover in the event of accident whereby it affected your teeth such as falling and hitting your teeth.

oh, that is a shame, as dental tend to be the more expensive for clinic visits. But hey, insurance companies are not in it for welfare smile.gif

You're not suppose to profit from insurance company in a claim but to be financially restored to your original financial position

Err agree with that, but my point is that there are medical cards that can cover clinic expenses (flu, fever, URTI, etc), so was hoping there are medical cards to cover for dental as well. Coz both are for of the same concept, getting one's back to 'normal' state.
*
Yes, which is only in an event of an accident.

it is true medical plan with investment link will have less impact of medical premium increase in future? compared to medical plan standalone.

No one knows, one thing for sure is that we are bound to get sick and you'll need the medical card whether it's investment or standalone so choose the one that you can afford first.

To AIA senior agent,
i need advice I had AIA ilp with life50K, CLR50K, and medical EC100/MC100 65K limit per confinement, 404K overall lifetime limit, paid premium $2400yr for 14yrs and never claim.

I want to upgrade my medical benefit 1.1m, and was quo. with NEW ilp premium $4200 with life25K. If want to top up on existing policy with 1.1m, the cost of premium will be higher compare to buy a new one.

My Q is , if i take the new ilp, then after 4 months i cancel the old policy, will the AIA treat me as new customer? if treat me as new, may cause problem if later want to claim?
*
If you upgrade your medical card, the old medical card will still take effect until the 4 months cooling period for the new medical card is up then the new coverage will kick in.

However if you opting for a new policy then it's advisable to keep the old policy running for at least 4 months before you cancel it otherwise you can't claim. Why don't you ask the agent who quoted you that?
