I see. Im planning to get a 4K TV in the next few months. Still undecided on what to get. I prefer bigger size compared to other features. 80 incher would be nice but I don't want to pay more to because of a feature that I don't really use like the 8K resolution. Any recommendation?
*
The ue630x series come in 50, 58 and 65 inches. Uhd 4k, no hdr.

The 80 inch is a diff class, 8k.

Perhaps u can check out the 65 inches model, should be cheaper now.

U r right to say 8k material is lacking, in fact, almost nonexistent.

Even 4k is not common at this time, very limited.

But like i always say, a 4k tv with good upscaling is worth it if u play mostly hd and bluray videos.

Personally, i am also very pleased with the 630x for another reason - the google androidtv that's built in.

As a heavy androidtv user, i find it extremely useful to able to sideload my fav apps in the tv, no need a separate box.

My own apps plus those from playstore provides more than enough to watch everyday, mostly in HD.

The usb playback function in this tv is not so good, sensitive to some hdds, won't read.

For that, i use my android box.

Woah.. u just made me realize that 630x didn't have HDR. Now I am more sad. lol

Becos the series was launched in 2015, hdr not in market then.

It is also cheaper than those with newer models with hdr.

A small tip here for ue630x.

There is no new firmware so far, but there is an apps optimzation auto downloaded, ready for activation. Need to go to settings, restart.

If u find any or yr installed android apps having problems like no video audio only, do the restart, all will be good again.

Onr living told me android os on tv are not so nice to use. Any truth behind this, both shop salesman claim it is clunky and laggy unlike android phone.

there are various platforms for smart tv's - lg has own, panasonic has own, samsung has own. sony-philips-sharp adopted google's androidtv platform which is essentially the same found in most tablets, phones and boxes.

still, the older smart tv models of sony-philips-sharp may be of a restricted kind, i.e. it is confined to certain apps, certain features, e.g. can't access google playstore, can't sideload apps. the newer models, incl uhd4k models should have the full google androidtv.

this particular sharp ue630x has androidtv is a 5.1 with >9gb memory for use. it is as fast and easy as my tablet, phone and box. if u know google android, u will enjoy this tv's android, no hassle.

Guys.. after 10+ pages of reading.. seem like sharp UE630X is kind of the first choice for most of the ppl here... I'm currently picking up a 49' or 50' 4K TV and budget is within the range of 2k-3k... is sharp UE630x the only one that is recommended?  any suggestion will do.. thanks in advance!
*
there are dozens of new 4k models every year.

if u hv read the thread thoroughly, u will know that it is a 2015 model, not so new anymore which is why it is cheaper now. like all tv's, the price will go down until a new upgraded successor model is launched.

if u r looking for a fair price UHD4k TV tv with google androidtv, it is a good choice.

but it does not hv HDR found only in newer models.

if planning to playback own videos, USB playback function is somewhat sensitive to diff HDD's.

i have used mine for >1 year now. great colors, great androidtv.

best way to choose a tv is to decide what features u MUST have, what u don't need, check them one by one at the stores and let yr own eyes and wallet decide.

Thanks for your opinion.. I was first thinking about UE630x (4K) or LE580x (FHD) - both are android tv and my eyes seem more comfortable looking at the 4k when both were compared side by side.. end up I paid for the UE630x today at RM2650 and i extended another 3 years warranty making it 5 years in total for another RM426... I do take note on the HDR, but doesn't seem like an important element for me, so just went ahead with a slightly dated UE630x.. by the way.. got a bargain too with RM2650 comes with free wallmount (from the store itself) & free wiresless keyboard/mouse set (promotion by sharp)..

great price, enjoy! thumbup.gif

Yea of coz, I agree with u. The reason why I posted about it is not to make u feel bad. Just want to inform others who might wanna purchase this TV model as well. Enjoy your new TV bro ;-)

the 50ue630x was launched in mid 2016 at rm4.2k.

dec 2016, it was 3.7k.

jan 2017, it became rm3k.

wait another 6 months, it may be 2.5k.

until the model is out of stock, taken out of market, replaced by new model at 4.2k again.

that's how prices go with consumer home electronics.

my brother get 50" UE630x at rm2300. i can't get the 50 inch coz they only had one unit only. refer other shop die2 cant give that price also. i'm getting the 58" UE630x at rm4250 with free mouse and wireless keyboard. is those price reasonable?
*
that price, u get the 50" only 1.5 years ago.

i think the life of this model is near the end, last stocks, i would think.

i would expect a new model to come out this year, with HDR and an upgraded android.

of course, prices for new model with go bakc up like all models when newly launched.

HDR for me is not essential as i seldom playing ps4 games. yup new models surely will be expensive again. is streaming movie using kodi isn't complicated to set it up? i need to googled back lot of pages back... but any nice tips is appreciated. thanks bro.

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Jan 9 2017, 04:30 PM)
Thank you bro. Are you currently using one?
*
i have the 50" for >1 yr already, made many posts here, so u may want to check them.

like i hv said many times here, the best thing about this 4kTV besides the great colors is the google androidtv 5.1 inside, same as that found in sony and philips 4ktv's. if u know google android from yr tablet or phone or box, it's easy for u as it is the same thing. but if totally new, been using windows/ipad/iphone, never google android, will take some time to learn as it is different.

the ue630x comes with google playstore and google/sharp approved apps like kodi, youtube 4k, netflix 4k, bloomberg, es file explorer. there are less than what u see with other devices where there are like a million apps. however, u can sideload other apps via usb using an app called es file explorer. only when the tv detects a malware or potentially harmful stuff will it reject and not install.

all things about "androidtv box" will apply to the android in the tv.

androidtv box
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3126605/+4200

kodi is one big app, empty by itself, u need to build it. takes a while to learn how to build, use and maintain. not for the impatient or hv no time. when successful, can be highly rewarding, incl 4k video streams.

kodi
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3943906/+1820

i have been using google android for a few years now, so i am familiar with it on all devices. if u have good broadband speed like >25mbps, u can get a lot of good stuff, incl 4k videos. the android built in the ue630x is a good one, as good as those selling rm200-300 in the market now. for certain things, i use the tv, no need a separate box. i use box mainly for usb playback of high video and audio quality files thru home theater.

The tv itself, easy enough to learn by just trying all diff settings and options.

Yes, spend time learning the androidtv.

Its a big bonus.

I do not know how many users are using it but i am certainly a big user of it!

Users of ue630x, if u have 25mbps or higher speed, u can get 4k movies from kodi.

I hv used it for a few days now.

Selection is limited but works well.

Get kodi addon called sanctuary. Inside, find silent hunter, 4k.
https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-install-sanctuary-on-kodi/

Details in kodi thread.

using tv kodi. cant stream 4k. silent hunter and pandora box also keep buffering. i've already fix using easy advance setting also can do anything bangwall.gif . i dun have box kodi. didnt install kodi yet at hyyptv box.
*
for a start, if u know kodi enough, it is never very reliable unless u r using a paid VPN.

the 4k videos in pandora box and merlin project m do not work well.

but most of them in silent hunter work, with some actually 1080 only!

also, unifi being unifi, the performance can vary from place to place, from time to time.

keep trying, u should get some of it.

50mbps may help too.

btw, are the youtube 4k videos working good?

they should.

youtube 4k video working well no hiccups. better i'm playing movie using box now. upscaling picture also nice too. just streaming fullhd movie will do. thanks for your input bro icon_rolleyes.gif i'm learning more on kodi. taking one step at a time.
*
for playback, better use box as the TV usb playback is sensitive to certain types of HDD.

there is 8-9gb memory in the tv, can sideload some good apps too.

when u get round to it, register for netflix, try the 4k videos there. 1 month free trial still on, i think.

btw, r u using ethernet or wifi, how far?

using stock or own router?

wifi with stock router (5m distance). as of now i will avoid paying for paid vpn coz already have uploaded paid ac. can find 4k source also. uncompressed bdmv but dunno my laptop can handle it or not  smile.gif
*
streaming works best with ethernet.

wifi 5m/15ft... i suggest u consider replacing with a better router, makes a lot of difference for max speed and stability.
