.. i had some success with android 5.1, got minutes of several 4k videos in merlin project m.
.. what i saw, compared with my own uhd4k-netflix4k-bdmv collection, i will say the video quality is good. as they are compressed, they probably have some losses or are actually upscaled 4k rather than true 4k. but i cannot say they are better than the full bdmv upscaled by my 4ktv, about the same to my eyes.
.. with 30mbps, there should be no buffering issues but i had it.
.. using advancedsettings.xml did NOT help; no buffering with 3D and other videos in the addon; quasar download data also showing very fast, no problem.
...i conclude the 4k video links are currently having heavy traffic or are getting certain blocks or not maintained well.
.. however, if anyone using 50-100mbps are getting them smoothly NOW, it will mean only that speed range can do the job.
.. android 4.4 will give judders, no good.

i will play with it again in the next few days, see if it improves.

anyone with >20mbps, 4ktv, android 5 or higher should try it, for learning, at least.

The true 4k ones will be at least 30gb.

30mbps gives 3.75MBps or 13.5gb per hour or 27gb for 2 hours max if link good, yr speed tiptop, lone user.

Will be touch n go, not reliable.

Will have to upgrade to 100mbps, buy new box!

AVFAN or anyone else who is an expert for Quasar. I have added Quasar (finally!). It works. But... I have tried few recent movies and it shows "No link is found". Is this normal? I used Magnetic and installed EZTV, Torrentz, Kickass and Extratorrent. I Googled and found these results or you guys have any better recommendation?

I simply selected one TV show and links were found. So, these Torrernt add-ons should be OK.

Tried the 4k and 3d. It will move like 5 sec then the buffering stop.  Somehow.  It just got stuck.  Plus I'm on 50 mbps.  Not 30  actually.  Might try again.

u can try sanctuary addon here. have a lot of 4K movie. pandora and silent hunter all in there.. nice all in one addon.

have u set to zero cache? im using 25mbs and it work wonder.. u have to pause a few sec at the beginning and start playing, after that it smooth sail

.. merlin project m 4k and santuary pandorabox 4k - NO good. i think the integrity of the links are compromised, too heavy buffering, whatever u do.

.. sanctuary silent hunter 4k is GOOD! very limited selection, though.

.. those files are all 8-15 gb, 25/30mbps can handle them.

.. can see from the streaming bar that at that speed, it is just enough to do it.

.. unclear if advancedsettings.xml is helping. no harm doing it but please do yr math and not blindly create the xml.

.. full 90 min "4k" movie tested on my 4k smart android tv 5.1 with 500mb free ram - all smooth, great vibrant colors.

(and there are people still saying 4k tv is a waste of time! )

MAGNETIC providers did not work for me on kodi 16.1.
use Quasar MC providers; they are not the same.
but as quasar get frequent updates, it is possible they work now.

the providers have been under regulatory pressure forever; some have shut down voluntarily, some forced to do so, others set up mirrors or new sites. the provider addons may be out of date. in fact, i think all except a few are outdated. so, try all of them!

"Recent movies"... many do not work becos the links are put there in advance, may not be active. some are crap cinema stuff. better use others like most popular, people watching, etc. and if u hv a title in mind, do a search.

"no link found" happens with every first time u click on the title. click it a second time!

Thank you for the link will try.  The cache I set to 100 my on quasar.  Does it apply to all?
