U r absolutely right. Also, distance learning would also mean minimal time spent with peers and in an MBA that's not what U want

@tishaban,
Yes what U said is true but that way is probably being fostered by the 'big boys'? Er.. what does IE stand for btw? *grins* I've had friends taking up distance learning course due to it not being available here but apparently had difficulty connecting to the facilitators through email. Also, video conference time and 'face to face' meet times weren't exactly convenient either. I do believe it is possible to look at distance learning but only if promises are met and that students are hardworking enough to log onto those forum and connect with each other. Nothing is better than face to face interaction but that is definitely make-upable through other ways of connection [just like U and I] Are U considering this IE MBA? |

@tishaban,
Do U need me to sit U down before Ur gonna start getting ready for that? Otherwise, perhaps U'll like me to just enrol U for the paper?! Yes the cost been reduced due to the method of delivery but still, 35k Euros isn't what I consider cheap. And, I've no apartment I can sell off to raise that kind of $ |

@jasperng,
That figure seems about right. If ur based in MY, that kind of $ is definitely WOWZERS but most INSEAD graduates would have secured a job which can give them their ROI within a year of graduation. Most will also choose to relocate out of MY Damn.. I hope U know what I'm talking about [I seem to be lost in my own thoughts] *grins* @boonboon, If it is compulsory for U to attend face to face classes, chances are that isn't a distance learning program This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jul 1 2008, 04:54 PM |

@PerfectStop,
I believe the MBA offered through CDC Management is the Strathclyde MBA. Olympia College on the other hand is offering the Nottingham Trent MBA. |

@tishaban,
QUOTE If you can qualify, there's absolutely no reason to not apply for a top school, lack of funding is a lame excuse What are U waiting for then?! The cheapest 'Top US School' MBA I found (based on research done in 2007) cost US$66,000 p/year but that is an accelerated programme and U will need to meet certain requirements to get in. |

@pml_318,
U probably have a wider option in SG - there's more than just INSEAD there so do a thorough search on available MBAs in Singapore. In the meantime, U could check out the following: 1) University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business 2) NUS Business School, National University of Singapore Also, now that we know U can afford USD35k, how many years of experience and how old are U? Some Unis do look at that as a criteria; work experience esp for the US-based ones and age is also a requirement for the UK-based ones. This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jul 4 2008, 07:53 AM |

@pml_318,
Act, MBA graduates from SG isn't getting any ROI - there was an article I read previously about that; unfortunately, I'm unable to recall when that article was published [if I'm not mistaken it was published by Straits Times Singapore]. I don't see a problem with the age requirement since U'll be 28/29 by the time U begin ur course. U might have an issue with the work experience though but if U can get them to give U an interview and U proof mature enough in ur thoughts, U should be able to get in. Next thing is to prepare for GMAT Good Luck! PS: Haf U checked how much the Chicago one @ SG cost? |

@pml_318,
If U want good and U want prestigious, the Chicago one should fit ur criteria - except it's not going to come cheap I'm sure *grins* Anyhow, if U intend to continue ur career here in MY, i doubt U'll see the ROI (financially) for at least 3-5 years. Also, whatever U read, those are mere indications. |

@chgchksg128,
The last time I checked out the course structure between both UPM & UM, UPM's structure seemed to be more practical and MBA-skewed whilst UM's seemed to b too academic and skewed towards an MArts and not MBA. Perhaps that could be the reason because those who opt for an MBA would prefer it to be more practical skewed than academic skewed. |

@Babablacksheep,
Enrolment on MBA depends on where the Uni is based; most does it on a per semester basis due to small numbers and availability of classes [u'll realise students join with other classes as long as the subject's d same]. As to 'foreign MBAs' - a handful would require U to spend at least a semester or X number of weeks @ the respective Uni before U can fully complete the course but most will allow U to complete 100% locally. @Gary1981, It might not be the food eragon85 is after |

@Babablacksheep,
Education is about memorising but understanding. It's important that U understand where, what and how the theories come about so U can apply it to what U do. |

@Babablacksheep,
You don't just memorise and regurgitate the theories; U need to apply it to a real world situation. @mrdude, Perception is that it's alwiz harder when it's marked, assessed & moderated abroad. Just be v careful not to plagiarise; it's v EASY to point out esp if the person marking the paper is v well read and updated. |
