I keep on switching screen protectors and I keep on wiping with alcohol before applying.

So I think my oleophobic coating has worn off. sweat.gif

When you first initially set up the phone did you choose Malaysia as your region ? If you did then you would get the Malaysian calendar set up already. That's my experience anyways.

I remember reading about this very same enquiry on the net and saw a reply for a work-around where you could go to a completely silent place and record the "sound" and then set that as your ringtone. Unfortunately I don't know of any other method, ha ha..

Hi guys

Just got my first iphone (6s plus 128gb) from Apple online store last week. When I first switched on the phone to activate it, I instantly realised that the top edge of my phone screen is unevenly lit, and there's some sorta dark band/shadow along the top edge. I went to Machine to check the display units, and found that all of them have the same 'problem' as my phone, except one. I checked with the Machine staff, and was informed that this is bcos my phone is still new, and I should use and charge it for few times and it will improve gradually. He even showed me the older iphone 6plus on display that the shadow will disappear as repeated charging and use.

After 3 days of using my new iphone, the 'shadow' still remains there. Quite concern, I'd called Apple Care support this morning and spoken to the technician. Was told that might be due to software issues, as I still haven't updated my phone to the last ios 9.3. It's still the same after I updated it to 9.3. Now, the technician advised me to send my phone to the repair centre for a diagnosis, which I'm reluctant since it's just 4-day-old.

As I'm new to iphone, just want to ask whether is it normal for iphone to have such 'shadowy' screen on the top edge? To me it seems that something's not right with the screen, since it looks like that part is unevenly lit. I looked at my old Sony Z1, but the screen color near the top edge is always in dark color, unlike iphone 6s plus that is in white background, so I cant observe if it's also the same.

What the staff in Machine told me, is it true? But I don't really believe what the staff in Machine told me, since there's one 6splus in display that looks perfectly lit and bright. Should I send my phone to repair centre?

pls help, thanks!

Perhaps what you are experiencing is light bleed? You can search for it on Google and see if it's similar?

You can try other service centres apart from Machines and get a second opinion.

Please check whether your auto brightness setting is set to auto. That's why your screen display is slightly dim if set to auto.

This is a defect.
Unfortunately, if there's no other defects in the phone, I would advice you to keep the phone because my 6S also have an unevenly lit display and after I sent to warranty, I get another replacement(refurbished) phone with same uneven lit display. The majority of display units I see also have this issue
I think there's something wrong with apple display manufacturing.. If you want to try your luck you can...
Just pray that you don't get one with more defects.. (like home button speakers etc)

Thx for reminding! Just googled about my problem, seems like I'm not the only one... Guess both Machine and the apple technician gave me wrong advice.

This is how my screen looks like: Attached Image

After googled about my problem, I also don't think it is due to software issue...

I'm not sure, I just updated my ios according to the instructions of the Apple technician. I heard he mentioned 9.1 or 9.3

Yes, it's always auto, I didnt change the setting. The screen is dim and looks unevenly lit only on the top edge of the screen, as showed in my pic above.
