just curious, why it's not advisable to go on golden week?

Japanese are Holiday too. Transportation will be fully booked. Almost impossible for you if plan to City Hopping. Onsen Village area such as Hakone will be very crowded. Hotel price will twice expensive.
Golden week means the 1 full week, Japanese are having holiday.
Same story as if we have long holiday in Malaysia. Most places will be crowded. Even accomodation also hard to find.

The good thing is that there are more "things" to see and you will feel the carnival atmosphere. Also there might be some sale as well. For me, I just stay at home and watch TV as I hate crowds.

unless traveler focus in tokyo only or osaka/kobe + kyoto/nara day trip
one of the best onsen i ever stay 2 big indoor onsen + bath, 1 for male, 1 for female 4 private onsen, 2 indoor, 2 outdoor 1 outdoor for woman 2 mix outdoor
the mix outdoor onsen view is stunning you can see Mt. Yarigadake
one of the best kaiseki i ever had sashimi with the fish is still alive, u can see the fish mouth open and close the hida beef taste damn good, i still remember the taste even it is 2 years ago
