any brand suggestion ?

Think the key message is don't get fake oil.

But if you insist a brand recommendation, you can consider these, which I have personally used:
a) Magnetec (I find it don't play nice with Liqui Moly MoS2 additive, white flake tend to form)
b) Shell semi, blue bottle one (quite sound, but a lot of fakes. Better get from trusted garage or petrol station)
c) Idemitsu works fine for me currently, blended with LM MoS2 additive.

The key point is don't use fake oil, don't overfill (I keep the level middle of max and min oil indicator), and change it every 5,000 km (this is personal preference. I tend to stick to manufacturers recommendation)

Reference: Clocking of 310,000km plus on my 2011 Persona Elegance.

Wa bro! 310k still running good?? Any major issue? Anything need to take note??

Mine about 4 years, clocking in 110k
*
Err.. I don't really have anything that's systematically arranged.

So far all my cryptic issues are electronics problem:

-Check Engine Light with knock sensor voltage too low probably due to I tried heel-toe downshiftbon my car.. Once i drive like an Ah Pek then the code won't come back, after clear error code.

-If your oxygen sensor failed: You go to spare part shop they'll give you black color Gen2 O2 sensor. That's not the right one. Insist O2 sensor with green cable. Otherwise you going to be like me who bought 3 black O2 sensor until I gave up and send my car back to Proton Edar.

-Most of the unexplained electronics problem occurs when car battery about to die. If you got strange problem that your wireman cannot diagnose, at the same time battery due to be changed already, you can always try new battery when all method exhausted.

Engine bay there basically nothing much. Just make sure you maintain according to schedule lo... Use distilled water for coolant mix, use original timing belt assembly (zordaq keep on highlight this in their FB page), change water pump at alternate timing belt change, solve crankcase cover gasket oil leak by replacing the gasket with silicone punya, etc etc.

Getting a OBD2 Bluetooth reader is a good investment. I got one Scantool.net bluetooth version in my drive so that I know what's the CEL for..

Which type of obd reader u are using now? May I know how to fix the obd reader in car? Where is the connector?
*
I'm using this:
https://www.scantool.net/obdlink-lxbt/

You'll need app in your phone to link to your ECU.

The port is behind of your engine bonnet open switch.

Just connect there? Any wiring required?
*
Nope. Just plug, pair Bluetooth with your phone, then launch app. This brand got auto sleep function. So you can leave it in car.

If you're hesitating you always can buy the cheap one from eBay to try out first. Last time i bought 3, only 1 worked, but the the one worked spoiled in 2 weeks also. 1.99 usd each only.

Edit: Upload photos.

Will it harm the car electronics system if I am using the cheap obd? Need to remove obd everytime after using it?
*
By right it should have no issue using that. The only thing the proton edar told me is don't plug in too hard, otherwise the obd port will get loosen overtime, making future connection with their OBD cable.

Cheap OBD don't have sleep function as it will drain battery if you leave it be over night. Drain to what extent then i have no idea. So if you decided to try the ones from ebay then just make sure you unplug after each time you use it.

Guys... What are the difference between 2010 persona se and 2010 persona elegance H-line?

Mostly are cosmetic difference. Internally PE got 32bit ecu, which making OBD monitoring support possible.

Other than that nothing kut....

should i use 100% coolant in the radiator ? Or should i mix it with water ?
*
Standard mixture is 50% water, 50% coolant. With water using distilled water as there's no metal ion in it.

I also have the same question, pening already. Should I use 100% coolant in the radiator or mix it water (if yes, how much of water) and what about the coolant reservoir near the battery? To fill in only with coolant or mix with water?

Thank you
*
Coolant reservoir i actually use distilled water. The level just high enough to submerge the pipe from radiator would do.

The rationale is reservoir tank under normal circumstances function as catchment area for expanded coolant during hot engine. When engine cool down, coolant volume will shrink and siphon back fluid from reservoir tank to make up the void.

Thus under ideal situation, it should contain same fluid as in your radiator. But if coolant tak cukup, distilled water also can.

On the proportion of coolant versus diluent, if you check those coolant imported from country with winter season, they actually indicate the more percentage coolant you use, the more resistant of radiator fluid to form ice.

Looking at Malaysia don't have winter, we don't really need 100% coolant. We only need it for anti-corrosive properties. So standard 50% mixture should suffice.

Hi all,

Want to do a fast quick check.

Does IAFM+ in Prevé Executive have the same parts number as persona IAFM unit?

If it doesn't can Prevé IAFM+ be installed and use in Persona Elegance?

Thanks in Advance!

weekly top-up is not normal, i usually top-up once per 2 months i also suspect somewhere leaking. it should be very minimal usage as it's closed circulation system.
*
Agreed, not normal. I hardly top up, got also reservoir tank only.

The most common leaking part is at water pump gasket there. You might want to check there during your next service.

It's a sign of the radiator having issues. Happened to me before and the car ended up overheating due to clogged radiator, better get everything checked from the fan / hoses to the radiator itself.

By the way, my persona's steering felt really tight and heavy to turn especially when it is almost turned to the max left or right. The power steering oil tank is full and no leakage at the hoses nearby at all since I had them replaced a few months ago. Is it something to do with steering rack / power steering pump?

Also the steering is not centered, I have to turn it a few degrees to the right in order for the car to track straight but that steering doesn't vibrate or shake during higher speed, how to fix it?

I'm from selayang / kepong area and anyone has recommended workshop / foreman to go to?
*
Have you done tyre alignment and balancing for the problem?

If this happens, engine oil might look creamy due to emulsification. Easy to trace.

That happens if leaked or large crack. If little, it just get evaporated at the head area. Happened to me before.

Oh i see... How the issue was solved? Mind to share?
