Wondering if someone willing to share insight on KPMG Tax.

My uni batch mate got offer for KPMG tax. Supposed to do medical next week. BUT we just heard from friend in another Big 4 that kpmg tax department is "collapsing", bad bonuses in Feb and now some big restructuring because bosses all fighting and always blame and bully staff. Is this true or exaggeration? Sounds very scary if it's true but need to verify rumour or truth.

Now my friend big dilemma because she's still waiting for other firms to reply her but now dunno if she should do her medical now and reject kpmg if other firms offer her. If big 4 don't take her, are small firms ok? She thinking BDO maybe.

If you are from kpmg can you help confirm the situation in tax? I thought tax normally quite ok.

No idea about KPMG. But I heard BDO is the most chinaman of all.

Thanks. I'm big 4 too but Audit so no idea about Tax industry. More of our batch mates also joined audit. Tax not so popular.

If anyone has more inside information please PM me.

I am currently having my degree in accounting, wanted to ask that is it necessary for audit associate to have professional qualification because I am planning to prosper my audit career in big 4? How far can a degree holder in accounting go without professional qualification in big four ? How to get MIA ? And what if I just get MIA without having professional qualification ? Looking forward for your reply

Why the reluctance to do professional exams?

General answer to that is, AFAIK, big4 would require you to do professional paper even if you can go the local uni route to get MIA membership with 3 years relevant experience. It's their way to ensure quality of the staff and staff retention tool through training bond.

I'm not sure if it's the case for all big 4, but I know at least 2 firms would delay your promotion to manager if you do not complete professional papers. It's very demotivating when your peers who may not even perform as well as you at work to move up faster than you.

Personally I find professional papers is a very good challenge and albeit how tough it was, it's definitely worth doing. After doing professional papers, I felt my accounting degree was such a fraud, I learn maybe not even 1/3 of what I need for my professional development in uni

Which department she applied to?
Currently intern @ KPMG tax
So far my department no problem, just that its not my field of study so wont be continuing after internship period ends.

As almost everyone have a professional qualification, it's no longer a competitive edge, consider it a minimum social expectation. Want to climb far in audit? Just stay. Bosses treasure loyal staffs rather than those threaten to tender on a continuous basis.

Hi, does anyone here work in Transfer Pricing department or knows anyone from TP? Mind sharing your experiences here? smile.gif

I was in Assurance services previously but i can tell u that TP requires you to know in-depth company's taxation+ transaction. TP can be confusing since it covers related party transactions which can be extremely complex for big corporations. If you dont know the basic accounting for consolidation+inter co. transactions, u might not be able to cope with this TP.

You can definitely go in, but now audit firms state in your letter of emplyment that you need to start a professional paper before they confirm you.

And also to advance beyond AM level to Manager Level, definitely need professional now.

Got cases where the role is AM but receive SM pay. There were some AM/M cannot get promoted for many years but become partner within few years after getting the cert. As long as it's not partner role, everything can be negotiated. Becoming partner is different story.

Currently studying ACCA.
Lets say after my course is finished, and I want to pursue for ICAEW.

I know only few chosen companies are eligible to provide the programme.
And I wanted to enroll in Big 4's.

So my question is,
-how do i apply for this aca training? or what procedures?
-how much salary i will be paid for it? Is it considered as training(lower wages) or normal staff(market wages)

Thanks^^

ACCA is one of the professional qualification, so as Icaew.
But ICAEW is harder than ACCA. (I think this is the most simplest way to describe)

According to ICAEW website, only selected companies are available to provide this training no?
http://careers.icaew.com/en/find-your-rout...ing-in-malaysia

But I know Sunway Uni also provides this course tho. So I'm not very sure, thats why Im asking here.
But now on, Im focusing on ACCA, still have a long way yet.
